The Troy PAR, or Sporting Rifle, is an odd gun. The pump action, AR inspired rifle has some exquisite engineering, and lives up to Troy’s reputation for quality and accuracy. And now they’re releasing the gun in other calibers. And if that isn’t up your alley, the little PDW just might be.

TrackingPoint makes rifles that don’t miss. It is a tremendous concept. Tag your target and pull the trigger. When everything lines up again, the gun will go bang, and whatever is down range is going down. How far do you want to shoot? And how much do you want to spend? TrackingPoint can handle both.

Ploymer80 makes 80% lower kits. Now they’re making them in .308, too. How easy is it to put one of these together? We’ll find out. By the time you read these words, they should be getting ready to ship. Who wouldn’t want to cut their own AR-10 style lower?

If you’re considering purchasing an AR-15, odds are you’ve looked into Daniel Defense. If you haven’t, you should. Their guns are a cut above. Their dedication to producing their own pieces and parts places them in a separate class of manufacturers, and allows them much tighter control of quality. and it shows. They’ve just released a new competition rifle that’s bad-ass, and they have bigger things coming this spring.

Stag Arms is known for their no-nonsense black rifles. These are hard working guns that privilege performance over fashion. Now they’re out into 9mm. But Stag isn’t content to offer yet-another-pistol-caliber-AR-pistol. They’re making full-sized carbine, and stretching out the performance of the 9mm.

Rhino Arms brought a shotgun prototype to the show last year, and it got our attention. When we got to SHOT this year, I went looking for an update. We’ve got the update on the shotgun, and more. Much much more. If you don’t yet know the Rhino name, get ready. These guns look good.

We stopped by the Kimber booth at this years SHOT Show to see what new products they had for 2015. Some of the stand outs to us are the Adirondack rifle in .300 Blackout, Solo Sapphire, Micro Raptor and the Onyx Ultra. Still, it is hard to pick one favorite in the Kimber booth.

Some pistol caliber carbines seem like someone simply converted a 5.56 AR to 9mm, and forced everything to work. The UDP-9 from Angstadt Arms is an obvious exception. This pistol maintains AR familiarity, but doesn’t take the 9mm for granted. Is this the best in its class?

The AR-15 is hardly a heavyweight rifle. Still, the speed of the .223 allows it to punch above its weight. Still, if you carry one all day, day in and day out, you may complain about the rifle’s weight. And now Battle Arms Development has designed a new rifle that weighs in under 4 pounds.
