In the Summer of 2019, Shield Arms announced a new magazine for the Glock 43x and 48. By itself, this information did not appear to be newsworthy. However, if you looked deeper at the announcement, you knew something potentially big was coming.

Overall, I am happy to say that reports of Glock’s death have been greatly exaggerated. I don’t know what happened with anyone else’s gun, but I do know what happened with mine. It ran like a sewing machine and looked mostly factory new after it did.

And if you ever need it, you will be quite happy to have a big boy gun with 15+1 rounds on tap to handle your problem.

Some of you out there reading articles on building firearms are thinking “This is all well and good, but I don’t have a machine shop in my garage.” If that’s the case, I had you in mind when I decided on this build.

It feels like a Glock, it shoots like a Glock, and it runs like a Glock. If Combat Tupperware is your duty gun, home defense gun, or CCW gun, you absolutely need this.

The GST-9 is a modular frame that accepts two different grip extensions. One is shorter, resulting in a grip the same length as a Glock 19. The other is longer, configuring the grip to the same length as a Glock 17. Naturally, magazine compatibility changes when you swap these grips out. When in Glock 19 configuration, you can run Glock 19 magazines and larger. Ditto for the Glock 17 configuration of course.
