Late last year, Olight added the BALDR Mini to its lineup of pistol mounted weapon lights. Olight took the successful PL-Mini 2 design and integrated a green laser to create the BALDR Mini. This year they added a red laser option, and it comes in black or desert tan.

Since it is a fact that most deadly force encounters happen in dim light where it is hard to see, having a light source you can use to illuminate your target is essential.

Flashlights that are powered by a battery go back to the early 1900s and the first weapon-mounted light did not appear until 1912 when George A. Seely of San Francisco invented his Night Sight For Firearms. We have come a long way since then.

I have a bunch of flashlights. The Blackfire Waterproof Clamplight has replaced most of them and has become my go-to work light.

In an outdoors market awash in flashlights, I recently found one light I’ll be hanging onto for my hunts: the Polysteel 600R LED Flashlight from Coast Products.

The PL-Mini2 puts out an impressive 600 lumens and has a max. throw distance of 100 meters. It will fit on anything from a Springfield XDE to a Glock 17.
