LWRC was showing off three new guns this week at SHOT. Two were what we expect from LWRC, a company that makes some of the best AR-15s available. One, though, was a complete surprise, and it is by far my favorite gun from the the show so far. Check out this compact .45 ACP sub gun. It will change the way you think about LWRC.

Unsuppressed, you can figure the noise level at about 165 decibels, varying, of course with rifle type, barrel length, etc. That’s louder [...]
10 Things to Look For In A SHTF Shotgun
BY Tom McHale Published: December 1, 2014 { 23 comments }I started thinking about my ideal qualities of an SHTF shotgun. You know, when the masses become all cranky and protesty because the Kardashians stopped doing reality TV. Sig Sauer’s Single Action Sensation: The P226 Elite SAO
BY Tom McHale Published: September 12, 2014 { 28 comments }The Sig P226 Elite SAO has classic Sig internals – not the hinged recoil action and barrel bushing we’re accustomed to seeing in a 1911. Yet it offers the benefits of a constant, light trigger to aid in accurate shooting. Unlike the 1911, it offers a double stack magazine so you get 15 rounds of ammo, plus an extra in the chamber. Oh yeah, and it’s chambered in 9mm.

It is a basic level of security perfect for a desk, a bedside, or the car.
Kineti-Tech Sound Redirecting Muzzle Brake: Gear Review
BY Dave Higginbotham Published: September 10, 2014 { 15 comments }Don’t stand beside someone shooting an AR. It is loud. Even with ear protection. And if you’re the one shooting, watch where you put that support hand. Don’t reach too far forward. Or, better yet, pick up a Kineti-Tech muzzle brake and sound redirecting sleeve. This combo solves both problems. And it is an easy DIY.

Prepping 101: Are We Being Played?
BY GunsAmerica Actual Published: August 23, 2014 { 58 comments }I make a habit of checking assumptions when I believe something that a lot of other people believe. When I am online these days, all of the ad tracking systems have me pegged as a “prepper,” and I get ads for everything from freeze dried food to gold bullion. I have become a commodity, and it has made me feel like perhaps I should do a little research into just how imminent this global collapse is likely to be.
