It is quite possible to build an AK from an 80% receiver without a lot of equipment. It does not require a whole lot of special skills to do either. Hopefully, this will inspire some of you would-be AK builders to give it a shot.

There are two booming markets in the United States for handguns: Concealed carry pistols, and out-of-the-box competition pistols. And Smith & Wesson has been a formidable name in both for many years.

Bullets are flying off shelves, and it probably isn’t going to get any better anytime soon. So I am taking this opportunity to address a question I have had since the last ammo crunch. Is there a way to train with my AR using rimfire only?

1,000 Yards from a $500 Rifle – Ruger’s American Predator

When I unboxed the Predator, I found a skinny little tapered barrel, a light composite stock, and a surprisingly smooth action. I say surprising because there was really nothing remarkable about the rifle other than the action. Admittedly, I did not have high expectations for the predator. It is a deceptively modest gun. The FN 5.7x28mm is an amazing round designed for a precise ballistic niche. Wither launched from a street-legal PS90, a FiveSeveN handgun or a CMMG AR, the 5.7 is soft shooting and hard-hitting. It is a joy to shoot and accurate enough for varmints or range work.

If there ever was a wildly underutilized and misunderstood piece of gear in the gun world it’s probably the Individual First Aid Kit, IFAK. If you can start a bleed you should be able to stop one.

Scoping Things Out: Selecting and Testing A Rifle Scope

It wasn’t until the 1920s that telescopic instruments used as aiming devices began to be widely accepted in the United States, but since then scopes have become the primary means of aiming rifles. In fact, they have become so popular and there are so many choices, it is difficult to decide which to buy.
