The .22LR is about as American as apple pie and it’s safe to say that no other .22 rifle is as American as the Ruger 10/22. Since the 1960’s, the Ruger 10/22 has been responsible for the countless shot-up cans, the taking of small game, and general fun having then just about any other .22LR made. This is for good reason. Similar to the AR-15, the 10/22 is manufactured in a way that makes it easy to swap out components to go from plinker to tack driver in no time.

BY Jon Hodoway Published: September 29, 2017 { 12 comments }There are lots of great companies competing for a slice of the AR-15 market, but it’s sometimes hard to find a rifle that is different. Enter Rock River Arms. I was torn between two rifles: the LAR-15 QMC (Quick Magazine Change) and the LAR-15 BTB (Better Than Basic) Carbine. I couldn’t decide between which one to test, so Rock Rivers graciously sent both.
The Perfect Entry Level Optic: Burris XTR II 4-20x50mm
BY Ian Kenney Published: September 27, 2017 { 5 comments }When the cost of a precision rifle can reach into the thousands of dollars it tends to be a little less practical, and unnecessary, to spend as much on the scope as you spent on the rifle. Starting out though, when you’re on a budget, finding a suitable optic for precision rifle competition that won’t break the bank isn’t easy. However, Burris is making the search easier with their XTR II line of scopes that are tailor-made for the beginning shooter at a price that some will find very easy to swallow.

BY Thomas Gomez Published: September 27, 2017 { 2 comments }Long range shooting is a discipline that requires quality gear. Typically the equipment needed for long range shooting is expensive. Now and then a company will offer a piece of kit that is well made and moderately priced. One such product that I have tested extensively over the course of this year is the Bushnell Legend T-Series Tactical Spotting Scope.
Gun Buybacks Are Waste of Time, No Evidence They Reduce Crime
BY S.H. Blannelberry Published: September 27, 2017 { 19 comments }When it comes to feel-good window dressing that politicians use to show that they’re “fighting crime,” it doesn’t get any more ridiculous than gun buybacks.
Intro to Precision Rifle Series — Mindset, Equipment & Skills
BY Ian Kenney Published: September 26, 2017 { 2 comments }Precision Rifle Shooting (PRS) has been gaining a lot of ground in recent and with that an increasing interest in precision rifle competitions. I started shooting precision rifle competitions about 12 years ago and back then, the competitive landscape was different. There weren’t as many matches around as I was getting into it and there certainly weren’t any standardized rules about what was and wasn’t allowed.
High Threat Concealment Quick Response System: P320 X-Five with 84 Rounds On Tap
BY Clay Martin Published: September 26, 2017 { 6 comments }Several years ago, the first article I wrote for Guns America was about the VTAC Brokos Battle Belt. In a full tactical scenario, that model is hard to beat. But it does have limitations. The bulk that makes it comfortable with full up armor and the weight of charges and hand grenades are fine for [...]
Mossberg’s Waterfowl Slayer — The 930 Pro-Series Waterfowl
BY Alfredo Rico Published: September 26, 2017 { 2 comments }Having the right tool for the right job helps eek out the most enjoyment of the sport. When I was invited to go waterfowl shooting, I didn’t want to risk water damage to the wood on my upland shotgun. Falling in the water or being pelted by hours of rain is not uncommon when waterfowl hunting, so I knew I needed a shotgun designed for the wet environment of a waterfowl blind. Enter the Mossberg 930 Pro-Series Waterfowl, a 12 gauge, gas operated semi-automatic shotgun designed to take the abusive environment of waterfowl hunting.
