I’m a big fan of all things 10MM, and Speer got my attention recently when the ammunition maker announced the new Speer Gold Dot 10MM Auto Personal Defense round, firing a 200-grain Gold Dot bullet.

If you have ever shot a .45 ACP all day long, you know the training value of soft recoil. The new Syntech is the softest shooting factory round I have ever picked up.

All the tactical reasons aside, it is also just fun. Streak comes in green and red, perfect for the Christmas season. Or Star Wars style battles. Maybe we could drop cases of green off to Antifa, and all us can just use the red.

Traditions Firearms is launching an expanded series of projectiles for muzzle-loading firearms just in time for hunting season.

So there we are. Your total urban defense ammo loadout by my calculation costs you just over $1,200 dollars. If you happen to have more on hand, awesome. But between now and when you need it, I strongly recommend you use some of that extra ammo to hone your skills.

The new 5.7mm guns are offered in pistol and NFA-regulated short-barreled rifle configurations and they use standard Five-seveN magazines.

The Mag Pump magazine loader is a pretty impressive engineering feat. To use it, push a magazine in, dump a box or handful of ammo in the hopper, and start pumping the handle. It’s literally that simple. The ammo doesn’t need to be oriented or sorted, the loader figures it out and puts it into your magazine in the correct orientation.

I love to look at Professional Hunter’s firearms; they show the rigors of day-to-day hunting life and are often beat nearly to death. While we all have our safe queens, I appreciate those beat up, well-hunted guns that invariably have a story to tell, be it that one shot that even surprised the owner, of those hair-raising tales of dangerous game at close quarters.
