In late 2019 I decided it was time for a new rifle. There are many very good factory competition multigun rifles on the market now but I decided to put together my own rifle, with each and every part exactly what I wanted.

My affinity for scary black rifles began eons ago, back in 2003, as an honorary member of the Tarleton State High Power Rifle Team. From there, my interests morphed into local 3-gun competitions where I took my DCM rifle and changed out parts to make the gun more viable for match shooting—something of a Franken-gun, really, but it ran well, and it was a tack driver.

In 3-gun matches, shooters use a rifle, a pistol, and a shotgun. Any of the three present challenges, but loading a shotgun quickly tends to be a skill that separates those who win from those who do not.
