SIG Sauer is best known for military-style hardware, ranging from submachine guns and sniper rifles, to the new Army M17 pistol. It is easy to forget they also make 1911 pistols, some of the best around. The first time I shot a Sig 1911 over a decade ago, it was hard to miss the value of the included high-end features. This year, SIG released a special edition “ We the People” model, a sure win for collectors.

Originally, the Ghost Gunner could only complete AR lowers. But back in October, Wilson launched an updated version that expands its capabilities. Ghost Gunner 2 can now produce ARs, of the -15 and -10 variety, as well as 1911s and Glock-compatible pistols.

CMP members and affiliates will have to wait just a little longer before they will be able to purchase these historically and militarily significant pistols.

This just in, a clarified version of the CMP’s plan to surplus 1911s.  

The inflated cost, like the process, is another way to guarantee that these guns end up in the hands of serious collectors and hobbyists. Not your average Joe Public.

Remington is now shipping their newest double-stack 1911 to stores now. That’s not all as the company is working on a new series of magazine-fed shotguns.

Once CMP receives 10,000 orders, customer names will be loaded into the Random Number Generator.

If Congress does nothing else this year (which is possible), at least they’ll have helped thousands of government-issued M1911s find good homes.
