California residents now have access to the Taurus 856 T.O.R.O. and 605 T.O.R.O. revolvers, following their addition to the California Department of Justice’s “roster” of Handguns Certified for Sale.
This announcement marks a significant expansion of available firearms in the state.
The Taurus 856 T.O.R.O. and 605 T.O.R.O., known for their innovative features, are the stainless-steel models of the series.
They boast compact grips suitable for concealed carry (CCW), a black ramp front sight, and a unique Optics Ready Option – a unique feature in the mass market for CCW revolvers.
This option allows users to mount a red dot sight, using an optic plate that attaches to the top strap of the revolver and accommodates sights with the Shield RMSc or Holosun K-series footprint.
Caleb Giddings, Taurus’ General Manager of Marketing, expressed excitement about the inclusion of the T.O.R.O. revolvers on California’s roster.

He highlighted that Californians now have access to three of Taurus’ recent revolver products, including a 357 Magnum, a 38 Special six-shot, and the hand-built 856 Executive Grade.
Giddings emphasized Taurus’ commitment to providing quality defensive firearms to law-abiding citizens in California.
The introduction of the T.O.R.O. revolvers to California is a continuation of Taurus’ tradition of innovation, addressing common concerns about small frame revolvers, particularly the sights.
The Optics Ready Option offers a solution to this issue, enhancing the usability and accuracy of these firearms.
