The best gun is the one you have with you. Here’s a gun small enough to have with you and with the capacity to make it worth carrying.
Switch Gun, by Standard Manufacturing
We’ve seen small, folding .22’s before, but Standard has taken it to the next level. While others may be capable of shooting a .22, the new Switch Gun has a five-round cylinder and a grip that’s large enough to get a hold of.

Standard is known for making guns that break paradigms, but they do it with results that are effective. This gun is made from stainless steel and polymer. It folds in half where the grip meets the frame and at just 3/4″ thick, it’s very concealable.
But the thing that really stands out here is that the Switch Gun unfolds at the press of a button. Slide the switch on the left side of the frame, and it pops open and locks tight (kinda like a switchblade knife). The tab at the top of the grip is lifted to unlock and fold it back up. It stays folded until the switch is released, and it stays open and rigid until you want to fold it again.
It’s single action only and you get five rounds, but there’s not a super quick way to reload. There’s a takedown pin under the barrel that allows the cylinder to come out of the frame for reloading. It’s also noteworthy that it shoots .22 Mag, not the significantly smaller .22 LR.
The Switch Gun is certainly one of the smallest guns on the market and it stands out with a higher-than-usual capacity. Standard Manufacturing’s Switch Gun is available now. MSRP $449

Way too pricey . Wanted to give to my Electricians and helpers. Toooooo high! But love the gun
The price is way to high, $449.00 for a 22 mag doesn’t even have any stopping power and takes to long to load. I would pay $250.00 for the novelty of it
My 1st thought was NAA’s tried and true version. Granted, this one has the folding feature that allows for a much larger grip, which is certainly a plus. The price makes that advantage much less attractive. Yes, it has a certain “cool” factor, but the reality is that all of these “mouse guns” serve ONLY (1) purpose: very close range (“bad breath distance”) defense. I’ll stick with my Beretta 950BS. Sure, it fires the despised .25acp round, but has a longer barrel, holds (9) rounds and is as concealable as virtually any handgun ever made. I’ve carried mine daily as a back-up for 34yrs, I’ve fired hundreds of rounds thru it, I’ve never had any issue of any kind AND it’s much more accurate than you would ever think possible.
21st century Parisian Apache, wheres the blade? Yeah, so a longer barrel reduces its hideability. Just as its current cost reduces its buyability. But ya gotta say, cool, why dident i make that! Whats next? chuck the NAA cylinder for a 6-shot Bearcat? Arent they made in disconnecticut, too? I have an old german sa/da .22, 8-rounds, with crane’d cylinder, and only about an inch across the cylinder; realistically not that much more gun, and speedloader-capable. for more gimmick, another switch would flip the top to reload s&w/webley-fashion. Send me my royalty checks in cash, please, no fitbitcoinage
Cute but not worth that kind of money and I would hate to the ballistics with that way to short barrel. I carry a Kel-Tec P3 380. Weighs a wee over 11 ounces with one in the tube and 6 in the magazine. two hundred rounds through it and never a jamb. Very accurate at 15 yards. Fits in my back pocket and I forget it’s there. “Is it my wallet or my Kel-Tec?”
It’s not made in USA, it’s made in CT. Why would anyone buy anything from that anti-gun communist state?
No. Thank. You.
First generation thunderstruck had a problem with it not being accurate at all because of a short barrel. generation two as a half inch longer barrel and that made the difference.
Looks very cool – BUT, the only way I’d buy off on one of these vs a North American arms which I can buy on sale for $200.00 would be if this gun is at or UNDER the same price – NO WAY I’d ever spend $449.00 or anywhere ever close for this item – sorry guys but this will be a financial flop on your bottom line.
At that barrel length a 22LR would be smarter.
I have to agree with Bill. The concept is great but the fact that it has less than a 1″ barrel would not allow a 22 mag to burn all or even most of the powder. Take down reloading is also a disadvantage. Concealability is a plus as you could keep it in a cell phone holster. The price? Probably should be in the $200-$250 range.
I’m all about new toys and cool gadgetry, but what can this do that NAA mini’s haven’t already been doing for years?
More overpriced junk. A barrel length that is far too short to allow the 22 mag to achieve a useful speed combined with a reloading sequence that leaves you vulnerable combined with the price of a real gun. WTF?
