If you’ve looked at optics very much, you know that one of the top manufacturers is Swarovski Optik. They are known for extreme clarity and low-light visibility. Swaro has just released a new riflescope that brings these recognized qualities at a price point that is lower than you’d think. True Pearce took a close look at the new Z5i at SHOT Show 2020.

The Z5i boasts an illuminated reticle with a 1″ tube. The 1″ tube is lighter than larger tubes. The illumination controls are positioned on the eyepiece for easy adjustments. A ballistic turret is optional.

The Z5i’s reticle is illuminated — rare for a 1″ optic.

These are four of the seven reticle options for the Z5i.

The illuminated reticles come in seven patterns. You can choose simple crosshairs or several different range-finding options. What’s more, Swarovski has created an online calculator that tells you the thickness of the lines and widths at various distances and magnifications. They also offer the Ballistics app for your smartphone.

An online calculator or smartphone app will help you relate your reticle to the real world.

This is Swarovski’s brightest 1″ optic, featuring 92% light transmission on the 2.4-12x50mm scope. The front lens element is 50mm across, which gathers a lot of light.

If you’ve been using a 3-9x44mm scope, this scope will be an eye-opener because of how much brighter the image appears. With that wide lens and a minimum 2.4x magnification, you also get a much wider field of view which makes it easier to find your target.

The Z5i comes in three sizes they call the Forest Hunter (2.4-12×50), the Mountain Hunter (3.5-18×44), and the Prairie Hunter (5-25×52). These scopes are shipping now and MSRP starts at $1,588.
