Stupid Is As Stupid Does: NY Leaders Want to Mandate Microstamping In Response to Tragedy

in 2nd Amendment – R2KBA, Current Events, This Week, Uncategorized

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul on Wednesday announced several actions she’s taking to “combat hate” and “prevent gun violence.”

“The horrific and despicable act of terror committed by a white supremacist this past weekend in Buffalo showed that we as a country are facing an intersection of two crises: the mainstreaming of hate speech – including white nationalism, racism and white supremacy – and the easy access to military-style weapons and magazines,” Gov. Hochul said. “This is a wake-up call and here in New York we are taking strong steps to directly address this deadly threat.”

Here are the changes Gov. Hochul is making:

  • Signs Executive Order to Establish a New Domestic Terrorism Unit within the Office of Counter Terrorism with Focus on Deradicalization and Threat Assessment Management; Establishes State Police Unit Devoted to Tracking and Responding to Extremist Violent Threats on Social Media
  • Signs Executive Order Requiring State Police to File Extreme Risk Protection Orders with Probable Cause Under NYS Red Flag Law to Prohibit Potentially Dangerous People From Purchasing and Possessing Guns
  • Proposes Legislation to Close “Other Gun” Loophole by Revising and Widening the Definition of a Firearm to Get Dangerous Guns off the Street
  • Will Work with the Legislature to Pass Legislation to Strengthen Crime Gun Reporting and Require Microstamping of Semiautomatic Pistols to Help Law Enforcement Better Track Guns Fired During Crimes
  • Issues Referral to Office of the Attorney General to Investigate Social Media Platforms Used by Buffalo Shooting Suspect to Broadcast, Promote and Facilitate Violence

“We will continue to confront this epidemic head-on, stamp out extremists who threaten our communities, strengthen the toughest gun laws in the country and do whatever it takes to keep New Yorkers safe,” Gov. Hochul added.

“Whatever it takes” is code for a whole-hog expansion of the surveillance state and the further dismantling of the Constitutional rights of law-abiding residents.

In a nutshell, Gov. Hochul is actually:

  • Authorizing authorities to spy on disfavored citizens who use social media
  • Incentivizing state police to confiscate guns on a mere probable-cause standard (less than a preponderance-of-evidence standard which is generally considered to be greater than 50 percent) via ERPOs
  • Blanketly prohibiting certain gun parts and kits to stamp out home gun making
  • Mandating microstamping, an inherently flawed technology, to starve the availability of lawful handguns vis a vis California
  • Pushing state prosecutors to censor free speech online

All will fundamentally make New Yorkers less free and more under the jackboot of the ruling elite. And none of it will make New Yorkers safer.

Mark Oliva, director of public affairs for the National Shooting Sports Foundation, pointed out to GunsAmerica that all the tools to catch the killer in Buffalo were already on the books but authorities dropped the ball.

“Before Governor Hochul makes demands to further restrict the Constitutional rights of law-abiding New Yorkers to keep and bear arms to protect themselves against deranged and racially-motivated attackers, she must answer to her citizens why the laws already in place were not full-implemented to protect the victims in Buffalo,” said Oliva.

“The suspected murderer was brought in by New York State Police for a mental health evaluation but was never brought before a judge for a mental health adjudication after he made threats against his school. Law enforcement and school authorities neglected to invoke New York’s Extreme Risk Protection Order, or ‘red flag’ law,” he continued.

“Had authorities followed through on their obligation to protect their communities, this murderer would have been prevented from purchasing a firearm by being listed as a prohibited individual in the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). The laws and the tools to prevent this tragedy were in place, as they were in Parkland, Florida. This is another example of authorities not using the tools available to prevent these tragedies,” Oliva concluded.

New Yorkers are already behind the eight ball with respect to Constitutional rights. But things are about to get a whole lot worse.

  • EasyEddie May 23, 2022, 10:47 am

I may be going out on a limb here, but I’m thinking the list of ‘Potentially Dangerous People’ will simply be everyone in New York State who is a registered Republican or Conservative. The ancient Chinese curse has come true…we find ourselves living in interesting times.

Alas, Maoist is too time-diluted to mean much, anymore. Dosent grab one’s attention like “……… Suprecimist”. One must keep-up with the current “…..speak” mode-o’-day to sound relevant to the masses, you see

I didn’t think they had trouble tracking this guy, and since he used a rifle, why do you need microstamping on handguns? If the handgun is stolen, all you’ll find out is who the guy was that filed the police report about his stolen handgun! IDIOTS!!! Not to mention revolvers. Do you think the shooter is going to dutifully eject his used brass for the police to find? Maybe you should all find someone who actually knows something about guns to talk to before speaking and coming across as a stupid politician…Perhaps if we change laws to allow doctors to put crazy people on the list of who’s not allowed to buy guns, that would help. It would actually stop a lot of these bat-shit crazy shooters, and it’s something you politicians could actually DO.

She is obviously not an intelligent person. To chose and try to take guns from law abiding citizens is not possible per the second amendment. This twat is just like Shannon twat, both should be removed for breathing perfectly good air. They are, amongst other things, the cause of the need for climate control. After all, no one spews bull$hit better than these two and bloomdick!

This is a clown show. White supremacy is very low on the list of threats to the black community, according to Candice Owens, but this governor Hochul clown just has to invite a race hustler to strengthen their “white domestic terrorist” narrative. You have to be special kind of stupid to believe in the “gun violence” narrative. People have always murdered, regardless of the weapon. More are murdered by hands and feet and knives than guns and especially rifles. The only way you’ll stop murder, regardless of the tools used, is by eliminating humans from this earth. Otherwise, tools are needed by the peaceful to protect and defend their lives from the violent and evil.

The left will not thank you for reminding them that murder has been around since cain-and-abel; they want you to Believe that evil only came about with the establishment of the republican party and it’s vile Freedom platform.

I think the most disgusting thing about these Democrat states is how they ram through executive orders and flawed legislation after incidents like this. Let’s have psychopaths determine which freedoms are stripped away. Very dangerous premise.

Hochul is just Cuomo part 2. Another Progressive-Socialist totalitarian who never will let a good crisis go to waste.

    • Harry May 21, 2022, 5:44 pm

Another idiot trying to disarm law abiding citizens! Wake up NY!

  • Jerry May 20, 2022, 10:13 am

Can i make up a new term? Red Supremicist. Its shorter than Social Democratic Supremicist, tho Leftsupremecism could be a useful descriptive, since they are beyond believing they are better; jes ask’em, they’ll tell ya! And these selfsame proclaimed pacifists will beat you up (or bus in a paid mob) if ya dont agree. Oh! The names you will be called! I got over being called names, and other words, back in der kindergarten, and learned to laugh at them. O’course, that seems t’ honk’em off even worse…….makes me smile, jes’ thinkin’ ’bout it…

Really no need for a new term , Jerry .

“ Maoist “ pretty much applies to the people you are speaking of .
