Study Proves Armed Citizens Stop Mass Shootings

in News

Every time a mass shooting happens, the media won’t shut up about it—wall-to-wall coverage, emotional appeals, and a predictable push for more gun control.

But when an armed citizen stops a mass shooting? Silence.

That’s exactly what Colion Noir called out in his latest breakdown, highlighting a new study from John Lott’s Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) that completely dismantles the anti-gun argument that good guys with guns don’t stop bad guys.

According to Noir, this study wrecks every excuse gun control advocates throw out against armed citizens.

He lays out how the data proves that law-abiding gun owners are far more effective and responsible in stopping mass shooters than the media would have you believe.

The Data the Anti-Gun Crowd Won’t Talk About

In his signature no-nonsense style, Noir goes straight for the facts. The study reviewed every reported case of a concealed carry permit holder stopping an active shooter from 2014 to 2023, and the numbers tell a story the media refuses to cover.

  • Out of 180 cases, only one involved a bystander being shot—just 0.56% of incidents.
  • Armed citizens did not interfere with police at all—zero cases of getting in the way.
  • Only one permit holder had their gun taken away—again, just 0.56%.

And then Noir delivers the comparison that makes the gun control lobby squirm.

  • During the same period, 27 police officers were killed while trying to stop active shooters.
  • More than 100 officers were wounded in shootouts.
  • Four police officers mistakenly shot the wrong person—including other cops.

The same anti-gun politicians and media figures telling Americans to “just call the police” seem awfully quiet about the fact that law-abiding citizens made fewer mistakes than trained officers.

As Noir puts it, the gun control crowd says civilians can’t be trusted with firearms because we’re not professionals—yet the data clearly shows that armed citizens aren’t the problem. They’re a solution.

More Guns, More First Responders

Noir doesn’t just talk about what the study proves—he talks about why it happens. The answer is numbers and proximity.

“There are way more armed civilians than police officers,” Noir points out. “If something bad happens, who’s more likely to be there first? A cop who’s 5, 10, 20 minutes away? Or the guy in the store who’s already armed?”

Even in cities like New York, where police are everywhere, crime still happens because cops can’t be everywhere at once. When seconds count, police are minutes away.

That’s why, as Noir highlights, countries like Israel actively encourage civilians to be armed. Their government understands that the best first responder is the one who’s already there.

“It’s not some wild theory,” Noir says. “It just works. It’s been working. And this study proves it.”

Why the Media Stays Silent

Then comes the real kicker—Noir doesn’t just expose the data, he exposes why the media refuses to cover it.

“When a mass shooting happens, the media runs wall-to-wall coverage for days,” Noir says. “But when an armed citizen stops the shooting? Nothing.”

He points to a case in Virginia where an off-duty federal agent took down a mass shooter in just 20 seconds—but mainstream outlets barely covered it.

Not CNN. Not MSNBC. Even the so-called “neutral” outlets don’t cover it.

“Why?” Noir asks. “Because it destroys their narrative.”

According to Noir, the media isn’t in the business of telling the truth—they’re in the business of pushing an agenda. And that agenda almost always leads to more gun control.

Noir’s Final Take

Noir ends with a clear message: the data doesn’t lie. Armed citizens save lives, and the numbers prove it. The only question left is why the anti-gun media refuses to talk about it.

Colion Noir isn’t just talking about defending America—he’s challenging the media and gun control advocates to face the facts. Because whether they want to admit it or not, the numbers show that a good guy with a gun isn’t just a slogan—it’s a reality.

I think a good guy with a gun stands back in the shadows to try to determine what’s going on and whether there is a need to intervene. As opposed to a PD arriving on scene with gun in hand and accelerating everything that is going on. From the bad guy(s) to him/herself. Everything speeds up. The bad guys understand he is being challenged right now. So does the LEO. The uniform draws action. sometimes bullets. That’s the nature of open carry and a uniform. If it is a plainclothes officer who is already on scene, he/she would act more like the CCW private citizen. Stand back and observe first if no imminent killing going on. I think private citizen defensive shooting classes should not focus on moving towards an active shooter but on moving away, or staying put if cover is good, and getting you and your people to cover. We should not be taught how to clear a room but instead how to move into defensive positions. We need to be on defense only. Let the tactical people with training hunt the bad people down. Just protect and get away if possible.
