Strike Industries is working on a sexy new receiver system including pistols and rifles that’s compatible with Heckler & Koch MP5 trigger groups. With this design the uppers are the firearm where the lowers are the accessory component.
“Last night, Strike Industries unveiled their new SI 2017 Pistol/Rifle which is created by combining this aluminum upper receiver with an MP5 Trigger Group and barrel,” reports Soldier Systems. “In case you’re wondering about the stock, it’s from a SIG MPX as they’ve incorporated the MIL STD 1913 rail to the rear of the receiver.”
“It’s an interesting project as MP5 trigger packs do not have serial numbers and are not considered firearms. Consequently, this means that the S.I. 2017 component will be the serial numbered item.”
“There aren’t a lot of details yet, but it will be on display in booth number 20,114 at SHOT Show 2017.”
It’s a neat-looking design featuring a modular stock and handguard system that allows the user to convert it from pistol to rifle or NFA-regulated short-barreled rifle. Strike Industries says that the gun uses stardard MP5 barrel assemblies and that all of the components are drop-in.
There’s more in store around just around the corner. “First and foremost we are keeping the system true to the standard MP5 being one of the most widely used platforms for LEO/MIL worldwide,” said Strike Industries to the Firearm Blog. “We don’t want them to have to retrain to new operating procedures so still no bolt lock back.”
“Compatible with the already widely available MP5 lower receiver, bolt and trigger pack, what we are aiming to provide is an updated modular upper with, barrel, handguard and stock configurations for pistol, SBR and rifle options — user choice.”
“It will feature continuous top rail, M-Lok rail system, integrated flip up front and rear sights on all length options except the shortest length due to structural limits and feature an ambi charging handle. More updates coming soon!”

Strike Industries is an experienced firearms accessory manufacturer but this is a much more ambitious — and exciting — product. Hopefully when the final product rolls around it will be competitive with other pistol-caliber carbines.
The pistol-caliber carbine is making a huge comeback for recreational shooters, some competitions and self-defense. Many of these carbines are built using AR components so it’s nice to see designs like this MP5 hybrid which employ some really unique features.
If this is priced right, Strike Industries’ upcoming little project will be very popular. We’ll be sure to follow up with more specifics and details as they drop.
FAL.
More than you know.
Are there really that many dinosaurs still in the military market using pistol calibre subguns? And if they are, why are the using such an antiquated platform? With so many better options out there it\’s time to relegate the MP5 to curio and relic status.
Says the FAL guy.. hahahahaahajhaa
AWESOME !!!!!!!!

I for one prefer not to use artillery for rabbit hunting. Sometimes it’s better to go small and efficient, rather than loading yourself down and overkill. The MP5 is a battle proven firearm in countries spanning every continent. How many subguns have you used across globe? Have you ever owned or operated an MP5? Those of us out here that have will disagree this is no more than a relic. I guarantee you that this will lead to something. Best rest your arm on the chair and leave the real work to the big boys! Oh I see your a Fal fan! Ought to try another and wise up.
I want one ! Hope my S&H & Fleming sears work in them !
