Quick bit of history for you. Did you know that Spyderco was the first manufacturer to include a pocket clip on a knife? Yup. They were.
Truth be told, Spyderco has always been on the cutting edge (forgive the tired pun) of blade design and innovation. Arguably, no one does more to push the boundaries of knife technology than Spyderco. To put some metrics to that claim, Spyderco launches upwards of 40 new models each year! Pretty impressive if you ask me.
What’s also impressive, actually maybe it’s revolutionary, is the Spyderco Nirvana. It’s named that for a reason. Translated literally, Nirvana means “blown out,” as in a candle or, in this case, as in my mind. Yes, the Spyderco Nirvana is mind-blowingly beautiful.
It’s not new; it was released last year at Blade 2015, taking the award for most innovative knife. But what is new or newsworthy about the Nirvana is that it will be available in the coming weeks!

There are a number of things that make the Nirvana cool, starting with the lead designer, custom knife maker Peter Rassenti, who worked with the Spyderco team to bring the Nirvana to life. Rassenti custom work is extraordinary.
Of course, his impeccable craftsmanship is typically reflected in the price tag of his knives — which brings me to the next point, the MSRP of the Nirvana is about half as much as one of Rassenti’s custom blades, which usually come in at around $550-plus.
Next, you have the S90V stainless steel blade and the handle made from a single piece of 6Al4V titanium! A single piece! Along with some jimping on the thumb ramp and the butt, the integral locking system and the broken glass finish on the handle, you have one really special piece, ideal for EDC.

I am not seeing all of these $500 plus knifes made in Asian Countries ,
Made in Taiwan? S90v? Maybe-Maybe not, $550. WOW! Spyderco sure knows what I am looking for in a fine knife. For 1/5 the price I can get a Kysor. Sal turned into a shyster.
