The XD(M) was originally designed as a service handgun, but when it quickly caught on in competitive shooting’s Service Divisions, Springfield Armory decided to make a good thing even better. Small touches like a longer barrel and sight radius, fiber-optic front sight with a color selected to improve contrast with the targets used in competitive shooting and lightening cut atop the slide—just behind the front sight—make the XD(M) Competition Series a whole different gun. XD(M) Competition Series pistols come with a 5.25-inch, match-grade barrel instead of the standard XD(M) barrel lengths of 3.8 and 4.5 inches. For a limited time they are shipping with three magazines, instead of two. All of the Competition Series features a higher-visibility red fiber-optic, but a green pipe is included in case that color works better for the shooter. The rear target sight is fully adjustable and the sight radius has been increased to 7.25 inches. The XD(M) Competition Series is available in 9 mm, .40 S&W and .45 ACP. All are 8.3 inches in length, 5.75 inches tall, and the 9 mm tips the scales at 29 ounces, with the .40 S&W and .45 ACP coming in at 32 ounces. Magazine capacity is 19 in 9 mm, 16 in .40 S&W and 13 in .45 ACP. Finishes available are black and bi-tone.

Love IT!!!! I have been so impressed with Springfield. I got the 2011 1911 and the my CCW is the Compact XD .40. I lave both guns and take them to the range every time. Springfield really stays on top of their line keeping their prices very competitive and producing top notch products.

Man these things are so popular, even my wife wants one! Seriously, they move off the shelf fast. Especially if you have a USPSA or IDPA club in the area. Go out to your local club, offer a small discount to the competitive shooters, and you’ll have them going out the door faster than you can get them in.

Have powder river precision do a custom gun for your shop to put on display, and they’ll be bringing them back in for custom work. Then you can convince them to buy two. One to shoot while the other is getting worked on 😉

Keep a decent selection of IDPA legal and USPSA production and limited holsters, belts, and mag pouches specifically for it. You’ll have even better markup on the accessories. Its win win.

Was that a cocking indicator I saw when he pointed it at himself at 1:24?

All of the newer springfield “x” series pistols have a cocked indicator, palm safety, and a chambered round indicator. I have the xdm 3.8 .40 and absolutely love this gun. It is the most accurate hand gun that I have ever shot. Cleaning and disassembley are both simple. The 3.8 is great for concealed carry for me. It holds 11 and one in the standard mag. Comes with 2 mags, mag extension, dual mag holster, paddle holster, 3 sized back straps, cleaning brush and gun lock.
