GENESEO, ILL. (12/13/21) – Springfield Armory is proud to announce the release of the new XD-M® Elite 3.8″ Compact OSP™ in .45 ACP. It combines big-bore power with cutting-edge performance to provide concealed carry users with an extraordinary defensive pistol option.
The compact and powerful pistol packs in 10+1 rounds of the proven .45 ACP. Featuring fully ambidextrous controls, the excellent META™ trigger, removable short flared magwell and much more, this new XD-M® Elite harnesses fight-stopping performance in an extremely capable CCW-sized package.
In addition, the fact it is an OSP variant (which stands for “Optical Sight Pistol”) means it can accept the red dot optic of your choice using available interchangeable optic-mounting plates. Additionally, the pistol is available from the factory packaged with a HEX™ Dragonfly™ 3.5 MOA red dot optic. MSRP on the pistol alone is $653, while the pistol packed with the HEX Dragonfly has an MSRP of $843.
“The XD-M Elite family has proven itself through its combination of rugged reliability and top-tier performance,” says Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing for Springfield Armory. “And now with the XD-M® Elite 3.8″ Compact OSP™ in .45, shooters have a powerful CCW pistol that is ready for every day carry duty.”

About Springfield Armory®
In 1794, the original Springfield Armory began manufacturing muskets for the defense of our young, free Republic. The Armory functioned as a firearms supplier for every major American conflict until 1968 when the government sadly closed its doors. In 1974, nearly two centuries after its inception, Springfield Armory Inc. in Geneseo, Ill. revived the iconic heritage of the Armory to carry on its legacy.
We strive to honor this responsibility as guardians of the original Springfield Armory legacy by manufacturing the highest quality firearms to enable responsible citizens to preserve their right to keep and bear arms in the defense of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
With an unmatched emphasis on craftsmanship, performance and exceptional customer service, our mission is to forge superior firearms and provide the tools necessary to defend individual freedoms and equality for those who embrace the rights and principles secured by our Founding Fathers. Has Springfield figured out that most potential buyers have four fingers on their “shooting hand”? This could be a great gun were it not for that horribly-located front flair on the mag well. (If you have your pinky removed, you’ll love it.)
Hopefully you can pop off the magwell and use the slightly higher capacity magazines like its 10mm brother.
Combine that with Springfield’s new 35 round magazine
and it will look like a Pez dispenser.
