Sol Invictus Arms, the company behind the semi-automatic AA-12 shotgun, is working on a new series of AR-compatible pistols chambered for 9mm Luger called the TAC-9. The new TAC-9 comes in two configurations and both take Glock-pattern magazines.
Originally developed for motorcycle patrol officers, the TAC series is small enough to keep on a bike but offers more firepower than a typical handgun. For now the TAC-9 comes with either a 5.5- or 8.5-inch 4150 chromalloy steel barrel and can be purchased as-is or with an SBM4 stabilizing brace and tube assembly.
The TAC series is not based on any AR-pattern firearms although it does use an AR-15 fire control group. It doesn’t use a buffer system and can be fitted with a folding stock or brace. The rear trunnion is modular and can be set to work with folding stocks or AR-style buffer tubes.
Like many AR-pattern pistol-caliber carbines and pistols, the TAC-9 comes with a flattop rail for optics and a free-floating handguard to promote accuracy and improve handling. The handguard has slots for accessories and both TAC-9 configurations come as shown with linear compensators.
The TAC design also incorporates a modular barrel system that allows users to swap pistol barrels for carbine-length barrels and eventually even change calibers. Down the line Sol plans to follow through with other parts including models chambered for .40 S&W, .45 ACP and 10mm Auto.
The suggested retail price for the TAC-9 is $705 for the straight pistol models and $824 for pistols with braces and adapters installed. Depending on the configuration TAC-9 pistols start at around 6 pounds unloaded.

And while these were made with law enforcement in mind, these have appeal for shooters everywhere. The TAC series greatly benefits from using AR-based trigger parts but gives shooters more flexibility with its interchangeable barrel system.
Pistol-caliber carbines are becoming very popular in the shooting world and not just for plinking or hunting small game. They are increasingly popular on the competition scene and justifiably more and more common for self-defense and home protection.
If Sol Invictus can follow through with a complete ecosystem of parts and accessories the TAC series is sure to gain traction. Even as it is, the TAC-9 looks like a fun gun that could be capable of some more serious work.

All these articles but no estimate on release date?
.45ACP using Glock 21 mags would be good, even better might be one in 5.7×28 using FN mags 😉
