Changing the game with the CSX, Smith & Wesson just released its all-new micro-compact hammer-fired 9mm featuring an aluminum frame and boasting a 12-round capacity.
While it has an external hammer, external safety, it still is not a 1911. Coming from the factory with a flush 10-round magazine, extended 12-round mag, the Smith & Wesson CSX is a mighty contender for the micro-compact pistol space.
Being truly ambidextrous, the CSX features an ambi external grip safety, slide stop, and reversible magazine release. The steel thumb safeties are pinned to the grip and hinge below the hammer. This allows for easy use with varying shooting grips and hand sizes. The low-profile slide stop works perfectly when needed, and can be operated without shifting your shooting grip.
Utilizing a flat-faced trigger, the CSX has a good break and added trigger safety. In addition to the ambi thumb safeties, and the trigger safety bar, this pistol also utilizes an internal firing pin block to give users even more confidence when carrying.
Incorporating rugged slide serrations, this pistol is easy to operate even with gloves or in slippery situations. Also included are serrations on the top of the slide which reduce glare when trying to acquire a sight picture in bright conditions. Using what the industry calls a tactical rack rear sight, the rear sight has a very useable squared front edge to help with racking the slide.
Besides having the same great grip texturing on the frame as found in the M&P lineup, the CSX features interchangeable backstraps including an extra set straight from the factory. This allows the user to adjust for his or her hand size.
The single-action external hammer of the CSX provides a consistent and crisp trigger press. While striker-fired pistols are more difficult to tell if they are racked and ready to go, hammer-fired pistols visually display their ready status to give additional confidence to the user.
The CSX has an MSRP of $609. Click HERE to read more details posted over on Smith & Wesson’s website.

This looks to be interesting. I wonder what the Performance Center version will be like and if they’ll offer it in the new 30 Super Carry which S&W are supporting or with an optics cut?
No frickn optics cut slide….. C’Mon already CATCH -UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank I will trade my Glock 43 off and get one.
Looks like a well designed pistol, a metal frame with the weight of a polymer! It’s missing an accessory rail in front of the trigger housing and an optics mount on the slide. No sharp edges and carries like a 1911, with the right holster, should make a nice EDC
Cute! Do they make them for men? (chambered in .45 ACP?)
Seriously, though. I kinda like the style of this one.
