SIG Unveils Custom Works Concierge Service for Built-to-Order P320
The new service allows users to build totally custom P320s.

SIG Sauer fans have never been short of options. The do-it-all gun company produces a huge variety of firearms, optics, suppressors, and ammunition, and now customers can take advantage of that variety by ordering a purpose-built P320 from the comfort of their computer screens.

SIG’s new Custom Works Concierge Service allows users to build their own firearm starting with a fire control unit for one of the company’s popular handguns. From there, customers choose a grip size and style, a slide, barrel, guides and springs, magazines, and optics. They also have the option to engrave text on the side of the handgun depending on the slide selected.

The Custom Works Concierge Service team will assemble and test fire the handgun to ensure proper functionality and accuracy, and ship it in a premium case to a local gun dealer of the customer’s choice.

“We wanted our customers to be able to create exactly what they want in this platform,” said Olivia Gallivan, SIG Sauer’s Custom Works Services Manager.

The online interface will feel familiar to anyone who has used similar tools for custom car builds. SIG offers plenty of options in each category, so users can select the colors, styles, and parts they’re looking for.

The Concierge Service allows customers to build a P320 to fit their use and budget. Here’s the top end of the spectrum.

For those less familiar with firearms, the tool does not allow users to choose parts that are incompatible with one another. For example, if someone chooses the AXG Carry Medium grip, the system does not allow users to choose the 3.6-inch Pro-Cut slide since those parts wouldn’t fit together.

The ensures the final product is functional and safe while still delivering in the aesthetics category.

“Every single Custom Works P320 that goes through this process will be test-fired on our range,” Gallivan said.

All firearms produced by the SIG Custom Works shop also come with a full warranty. Unlike a P320 built with aftermarket parts, these handguns are backed by SIG’s promise that the gun will function as it should.

The service ain’t exactly cheap. We selected the least expensive option in each category, and we ended up with a $919 gun with a 3.9-inch barrel and no optics. For comparison, you can find a no-frills P320 on GunsAmerica for less than $600.

Still, the combination we selected isn’t available as a pre-made firearm on SIG’s website, so if customization is what you’re looking for, that’s exactly what you’re going to get. In addition, all Custom Works guns, no matter the cost, are built by a single SIG Sauer gunsmith, and customers interface directly with the company about their firearm.

“We’re going to make sure you get a quality firearm out of our warehouse and into your hands,” Gallivan said.

At the high end of the spectrum, we built a pretty sweet P320 with a cut slide, threaded barrel, and optic for $1,929. It’s the kind of thing, as SIG says, we’d consider an heirloom firearm (though that wouldn’t stop us from shooting the heck out of it).

SIG Sauer is the only gun company that currently offers a comparable service. Others have scaled up custom shops and performance centers that allow a certain amount of customizability, but none offer the same level of flexibility along with an online builder tool.

The modularity of the P320 makes the Concierge Service possible. Its ability to mix and match slides, barrels, and frames—all without having to serialize a new firearm—has made it one of America’s most popular firearms, and this new service is the culmination of that design.

Gallivan has big plans for the future of the Custom Works program.

“We’re going to take it from what it is now and make it even more of a custom program,” she said. “Even more custom options for this program will be available. We’re constantly thinking about ways to improve the process and make this an interesting path for a customer who wants to do something like this.”

Right now, SIG estimates 4-6 weeks of lead time for orders.

I finally got the Sig Pro Cut slide compact 3.9 in coyote brown. I really wanted the black but now I love brown upper and black lower module combo. Next, I need the Romeo II and I will then probably be finished upgrading my P320. I will still often use the original slide with strictly iron sites as much as the Pro Cut w/Romeo II since the pistol is supposed to be “compact” in the first place.
