OVERVIEW

SIG seems like they are poised to try and take over the world right now, and from the new products I have seen this year that wouldn’t be a bad thing. At range day, we caught up with Tom Collins, head of the suppressor division, to hear the latest. Tom is a fellow member of the funny green hat club, so he knows a thing or two about going bump in the night. No surprise then when he told me the new SRD22X rimfire silencer is the quietest one on the market.

SIG SAUER RIMFIRE SILENCER: THE SRD22X – SHOT SHOW 2017IMPRESSION & AVAILABILITY

This is a pretty amazing can. It has a titanium tube to cut down on weight, and stainless baffles for durability. It can be used not only with .22 LR, but also .22 Magnum and .17 HMR. It is a thread-on style suppressor, and has a removable baffle stack. That last bit is important, as .22 cans get very dirty very fast. It is light, agile, and on shelves now. In fact, SIG is supposed to have 42,000 cans on shelves by June.

Shouldn’t suppressors be about $199 at the most ? I will bet the mentality changes when the Hearing Protection Act passes.

  • Ben March 6, 2017, 12:10 pm

    $445? Really?

This is not a TEST. This is an ad. What I want to know is what was the average decb. with and without the suppressor.?

    Cool but costly.

A $445 silencer for a .22? Is this for people who have a shooting range in their basement and don’t want to wake up the cat?
