SIG Sauer is bringing the Army’s new handgun to the commercial market. Say hello to the P320-M17!
Based on the SIG Sauer M17 that was awarded the Army’s Modular Handgun System (MHS) contract back in Jan. 2017, the P320-M17 is a striker-fired pistol chambered in 9mm.
The P320-M17 sports a coyote-tan PVD coated stainless steel slide, a coyote tan carry length modular grip (available in three sizes), a manual safety, and SIGLITE front Night Sight and removable rear plate. Just like its enlisted brother, the pistol features black controls and an MHS-specified optic cut in the slide.

“It was truly an honor for SIG SAUER to be chosen as the U.S. Army’s choice with the M17. When the selection was announced, civilian interest in the pistol was immediate,” said Tom Taylor, SIG’s Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President in a press release.
“We are proud to bring this P320-M17 to the marketplace to meet the substantial civilian interest, and the high demand, to own the pistol the Army uses as well as the other branches of the U.S. Military,” he added.
The gun will start shipping to dealers next month. It comes with two 17-round magazines. Those who want a P320-M17 without a manual safety, they’ll have to wait. SIG says those “will be shipped at a later date.”
The M17 Collector’s Case.
SIG is also offering an M17 Collector’s Case for $199.99. It will be sold separately at the SIG Store. The case is “a solid cherry box, with dark mahogany stain, a tempered glass top, a brushed nickel latch, and a keyhole back for optional wall-hanging. The M17 Collector’s Case features a slate-grey flocked foam insert with an affixed U.S. Army logo, and precision laser placement cuts for the P320-M17 pistol, and included P320-M17 certificate and P320-M17 Official Challenge Coin.”

Beautiful! I’ll take two!
I think the CCW market would have preferred an M18 version. Those with big pockets. But at that price I can buy a G19, 6 xtra mags, and a thousand rnds of ball. Or buy 2 M&P’s – one in 9 and the other in 45. The magazines for the Sigs are a royal rip off, same with the FN.
I won’t be buying one.
Hopefully these are more reliable then the last batch they sent to Aberdeen Proving Grounds for testing.
