This year’s NRA Show brought an intriguing surprise from SIG at their booth—a prototype of the SIG Cross rifle adorned with elegant wooden elements.
True stumbled upon this gem, featuring a walnut stock and handguard, accented with brass spacers for a touch of luxury. Even the bolt handle sports a wooden insert, showcasing SIG’s attention to detail.

However, SIG is playing it coy—they’re not sure if they’ll go into production. They’re turning to the public for input. The rifle, if produced, would likely command a price north of $2,000, given its upscale materials.
So, what’s the verdict from the firearm community? Is this wooden-accented SIG Cross a stroke of genius or a step too far?

Yup,
I’m Adding it to my watch List!
308 is Nice, but a 300 winmag would blow things outta water for me!
For $2000? Nope. Too rich for my blood.
Yes with FDE, or OD Green hardware.
The wood stock Sig is a work of art. Something a collector would want to hold and caress. The price point is probably too high for average gun buyer. A bolt action for the avid hunter, but I would hate to bang up a piece of beauty hiking over hill and dale, looking for that trophy buck.
Natural wood without question!
“Black Rifles” never appealed to me. As a Veteran, I want to enjoy hunting with a rifle that doesn’t remind me of combat!!
I’m all for the wood furniture, it makes the rifle more aesthetically appealing, but the cost had better be south of a grand
This is nice, and looks great. It would be MUCH better if Sig focused on getting the 277 Fury and 300 Win Mag variants done. 277 Fury is >3 years late, bordering on never happening.
Yes, I would/will buy one! While there is a practical reason for Tupperware furniture on various firearms, I still like wood and metal parts. I’m kinda old-school and love new stuff that looks like my old stuff used to….
Only if it’s left-handed, but would probably prefer the standard model (also left-handed!). So, I guess I’m not getting one unless the left-handed folks at Sig stage a coup.
I told them at NRAAM I’ll buy one!
What caliber is the Sig Cross? I would be interested. I own a LOT of rifles all with wood stocks. I own a Sig 365Macro and am impressed by Sig Saur products.
Right now only 6.5 Creedmoor and 308 Win. The 277 Fury and 300 Win Mag versions are vapor ware. 277 is 3 years late.
No way. It’s for back country use.
My last three new Sig products all had broken MIM parts in less than 500 rd…actually, much less than 500 rd. All at or above $1k!
No new Sigs!
Friends don’t let friends buy Sig.
Well, I really really like it. A lot. I would buy one. Seriously.
I love wood on any gun. I think it really makes this gun stand out. Beautiful in my opinion!
Yes please. Always looking for a beautiful rifle!
I am all in. There should be more wood stocked guns both long and short available. I am tired of all this plastic crap flooding the market.
Absolutely I would consider buying one of those rifles, a fine finished rifle like that I would think a lot of people would like it. The price is probably going to be a variable in people with the current situation we’re in, anyone should be proud to own one even myself I’m a lever gun guy love the wood on mine and a couple of bolt guns.
I use my Ruger SFAR .308 last here for deer, so I could see myself using it for my hunting then having show and tell back at camp after the hunt.
Good luck with the rifle
Respectfully
James
I would love that wooden furniture on the SIG Cross, wood gives the firearm a traditional appearance something forgotten in the tactical class. You folks can send me one, I will test her out and give her a nice seat on my wall.
Very nice. I would buy one, even though I have one already just for the fact it is a wooden stock. Plus I love the performance of the Sig Cross I have now.
