On the slim (but not impossible) chance that Sen. Chuck Schumer becomes Senate majority leader following the November elections, the Democrat from New York has vowed to pave the way for a left-leaning high court.

“My number one goal, should I become majority leader with your help, is to get a progressive Supreme Court,” said Schumer last week at a policy conference put on by Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network, reports RollCall.com.

“A progressive majority on the Supreme Court is an imperative, and if I become majority leader, I will make it happen,” Schumer said. “I will make it happen.”

In the context of the speech, Schumer was referring to the likelihood that a progressive court would restore a portion of the Voting Rights Act relating to federal preclearances for states that want to amend their voting laws or practices, e.g. pass a voter ID law.

Prior to the landmark Supreme Court case, Shelby County v. Holder, before a state imposed a law requiring one to show an ID to vote in an election, that state (if it was a state with a history of discrimination in voting) would have to get approval from the federal government.

Back in 2013, the court, in a 5-4 decision led by Chief Justice John Roberts ruled that there no longer was a need for federal preclearance because the arguments for it were “based on 40 year-old facts having no logical relationship to the present day.”

Schumer bashed Justice Roberts for his decision to strike down the antiquated preclearance provision.

“One of the first things he [Justice Roberts] did is eviscerate the Voting Rights Act,” Schumer said. “I sometimes wake up at night wondering what these Supreme Court justices are thinking.”

But should Schumer take charge of the Senate, thus giving him the power to grease the wheels for a Hillary Supreme Court appointee, Shelby County v. Holder, in his estimation, would be overturned.

“I know that the NAACP legal defense and all of the other funds will go right to that court and it is my belief, based on reading of the law, that the Supreme Court’s decision will be reversed,” Schumer said.

Well, if Schumer has his eyes set on overturning Shelby County v. Holder, one can bet his bottom dollar that the Schumer, a rabid anti-gunner (author of the Brady Bill, author of the Clinton-Era ban on black rifles), will also expect the progressive court to overturn the landmark District of Columbia v. Heller decision, which ruled that the Second Amendment is an individual right, not continent upon militia service.  He’s been on record calling it a “horrible decision.”

As we’ve noted, should that happen, it’ll be the beginning of the end of one’s right to keep and bear arms.

they aren’t now and probably never were, but weren’t they supposed to be unbiased and merely help interpret the law not make it for one party or the other. Seems to me we have lost the whole idea of the separation the departments of Government. The States have lost to much power to the Supreme court and that has got to change back to the way the Founding Father designed it. The courts have usurped too much power for themselves at the Federal level, and it needs to stop. The States need to declare their rights to self rule in all but Constitutional matters.

Chucky Scum-er, and his ilk, will stop at nothing to promote their liberal agenda. They have already corrupted the voting laws, so that illegal aliens can vote. In my state, all you need is a driver’s license (or State ID), and state that you are a resident of the precinct for the last 30 days (and almost every illegal alien has a driver’s license), and “state,” that you are a U.S. Citizen to register to vote. Pander to the illegals, and you have their vote. No ID is required at the polls. Like the days of machine politics, where the battle cry was, “Vote early, vote often,” with hoards being driven to different polling places and rewarded with a bottle afterwards.”

Chucky Schumer, the Democrat senator for New York and good friend of Hillary, Billy and Chelsea, and Bloomberg would absolutely make his best effort to put the worst possible liberal gun control idiot on the Supreme Court. The main reason would be to overturn decisions that have been made recently and have been severely criticized by Schumer and Hillary. They do not care about the opinions of millions of Americans. They want the decisions overturned and changed to decisions they feel would take away the Constitutional rights of the Second Amendment. Bloomberg is also from New York and he would be a terrible influence on Schumer and Hillary. Schumer, Bloomberg, and Hillary are all ROTTEN TO THE CORE.

The rumors are going from bad to worse. A rumor can’t get much worse than this. It is almost beyond comprehension that the liar and corrupt self serving democrat Hillary with liberal liar husband Billy could be elected president and the liar and liberal democrat idiot Obama could be selected to be on the U.S. Supreme Court for life. Americans would surely lose some of the Constitutional rights we have always had and we may never be the same again. Think about it. Does any of this possibility make any sense?

WE ABSOLUTELY NEED TO ELECT TRUMP AND THE REPUBLICANS!!!! Don’t forget about democrat idiots Obama, Hillary and Billy, Tim Kaine, Pelosi, Feinstein, Boxer, Schumer, Gov. Brown of California, Gov. Brown of Oregon, Gov. Inslee of Washington, Bloomberg, Soros who owns Progressive insurance, Maura Healey, Harry Reid, etc. Don’t forget about the State Department private server classified emails that Hillary mishandled. Don’t forget about the ambassador and three Americans killed in Libya who received absolutely no help from Clinton and the State Department. (Remember, “JUST FORGET ABOUT THAT!!!) (BENGAZI – WE HAD THE TIME, SHIPS AND PLANES. WE DID NOT HAVE THE LEADERSHIP!!) Don’t forget about releasing many terrorists from Guantanamo and talk about giving possession of Guantanamo back to Communist Cuba. Don’t forget about democrat idiot Obama executive actions that will be removed when Trump is elected, etc.

This election is absolutely the most important election we will ever see!!!! ROTTEN TO THE CORE CORRUPT HILLARY and IDIOT DEMOCRATS would be a TERRIBLE PRESIDENT AND SUPPORTERS !!!! We would lose rights we have always had and we may never be the same again. THINK ABOUT IT. DOES ANY OF THIS POSSIBILITY MAKE ANY SENSE ????

    • DRAINO September 17, 2016, 7:44 am

PREACH IT, BROTHER!!!! Not voting for Trump WILL MEAN Hillary’s election, which will be the end of our rights and country. PERIOD. And the blame will be ALL on the “never Trumper’s” if that happens.

  • Ralph Solli September 16, 2016, 12:25 pm

So for all of you who are serious about protecting the 2nd Amendment, but because of your “principles”, and “conscious” won’t support Trump, be prepared for Hillary to appoint the most liberal left wing justices to the Supreme Court that we have ever seen. That will ensure the dismantling of our 2nd Amendment rights and eventual implementation of an Australian style gun confiscation program. I refuse to be part of that so even though not my first choice, I will support Donald Trump because we can’t afford a tyrannical president and her liberal Supreme Court.

  • gary September 16, 2016, 11:09 am

Supreme Court has over the years continually over stepped its power and grabbed more and more power for the feds from the states. To go to DEMOCRAP side will just finish the SOCIALIST plans for this country of OBAMIE and BILLARY and all the socialist DEMOCRAPS. I hope it does not come to that. There is no place left to go as free as we where.

My not necessarily #1 goal(but high priority): see Chuckie out of office, in disgrace, with a serious federal indictment hanging over his head. He’s been in office so long there’s bound to be some corruption there, not to mention that he’s simply an authoritarian scum unfit to be a dog-catcher, let alone a US Senator!

  • rev_dave September 16, 2016, 10:08 am

Schumer is a seditionist pure and simple, and the antithesis of Liberty itself. It will be a great day for America when he dies.

  • RetNavet September 16, 2016, 9:49 am

Chuck U. Schumer is scum of the lowest order and always has been…I only wonder when this rat-faced bastard will publicly admit to being the offending participant in the terrible biological/mating experiment gone wrong with (D-NY) Congressthing Rosa Delauro that produced their illegitimate offspring Anthony Wiener

  • Ram6 September 16, 2016, 8:53 am

I find it interesting that these extreme “progressives” like Schumer only seem to care for one slice of the American electorate. A senate seat is a statewide position. There are millions in New York State who disagree with Schumer on the issue of gun control. They also believe that the Supreme Court shouldn’t be making decisions based on politics but on the plain language of the constitution. He seems to not care one whit about those citizens of his state, only the extreme liberals who dominate the elite environs of NYC. This is why our country continues on such a divisive course. With liberals it’s always “my way or the highway” as they believe that no other view is valid.

Chucky needs to change his name to Itzhak and move to Israel.

  • GRA September 16, 2016, 8:21 am

This sorry bastard needs to disappear. The sooner the better. He’s the epitome of sedition in our nation.

  • Robert September 16, 2016, 6:05 am

So “Up Chuck” wants a progressive supreme court. Why not be honorable and give ALL of the people the real reason. It’s more about defining law, when to apply a law or modify a law or enforce parts of a law. Stating that IDs is wrong because it makes some not be able to vote…YET……Voters who’re NOT legal to vote CAN vote. So citizens are losing their power of the vote. Up chuck should be more worried about keeping his job…But in New York State….Up chuck has a locked in for life job. But people DO change……

  • DRAINO September 15, 2016, 8:22 am

Yet another politician(like Reed and McConnell) that needs to be removed and go the way of the retirement home. Unfortunately, we tax payers are the ones who have pay for this morons retirement. I think that’s something that needs to change also. We should get to vote at the end of their stay in office whether or not they get any retirement. May make them think about how they do business.

    • Old Sailor September 16, 2016, 3:49 pm

I disagree Draino. They should not stay in office long enough to retire, therefore they should get no retirement. Two terms and out. No retirement, no nothing. They want retirement, let them save like the rest of us. It’s supposed to be about public service, not about how much they can line their pockets at the taxpayer’s expense.

      • DRAINO September 17, 2016, 7:56 am

Well, they currently get money (or a retirement) and other benefits for life once they are elected. I would agree with abolishing these privileges. But, as an incentive for good and proper service to the people who put them in office…..I would be willing to entertain the idea of giving them a reasonable financial/medical perk that would be voted for or against by the people AFTER their service is complete. But one thing for sure……term limits are a MUST!!!!
