Savage unveiled a new 22 LR rifle at SHOT Show 2023. They are calling it the A22 Takedown. This take-down rimfire rifle provides a lot of versatility by easily collapsing making transport easy.
Aimed to fit into a pack, the A22 Takedown is a great fit for outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, boating or just hitting the range.

To take down this rifle, simply pull the bolt carrier to the rear, then twist the handguard.
After this, it pops right off and is ready for transport. In a matter of seconds, I was able to take the rifle apart and then put it back together.
Savage designed this to be a quick process that provides a true return to zero.
A really nifty feature savage included was a lot of storage space on the A22 Takedown. The buttstock provides dry storage for three additional magazines.
Simply pop the top open using the tab, and then access the extra mags. There are actual inserts to keep the magazines locked in place, and not rattling around within the stock.

In addition to the storage in the buttstock, Savage also included a watertight compartment in the handguard. This is sealed with an O-ring and is quite a bit larger than the inside of a traditional AR15 grip.
The A22 Takedown utilizes Savages user-adjustable AcuTrigger. This is tuneable from 3-5lbs to provide some adjustments to meet the users’ preferences.
A custom 0-MOA top Picatinny rail is included and allows shooters to still use the iron sights when an optic is not attached to the rail.
There is a deep groove through the rail section which I didn’t notice at first. I appreciate this feature as it still is useable right out of the box, whereas a lot of rifles have no sights unless aftermarket ones are added.
This rifle also features a threaded barrel so it is suppressor or muzzle device ready.
The Savage A22 Takedown has an MSRP of $479 and is shipping now.
Designed as a very flexible platform, this rifle is quite competitive in the takedown market. To learn more about the Savage A22 Takedown, click HERE.
