Savage Arms has been making their Model 212/220 bolt-action turkey guns as special orders for a while, but now they have made it a standard model and they are available at retailers. It’s targeted at turkey hunters, and it’s got some attractive features gobbler stalkers should appreciate.
Machined Model 110 Action
The action is that of the Savage’s Model 110, and it’s machined from solid steel. It’s a bolt-action gun, and the whole thing should offer more precision than the average pump shotgun. For turkey hunters who take their craft seriously, this will feel like a serious gun.
It’s got a matte black 22-inch barrel and the adjustable stock is patterned in Mossy Oak’s Obsession.
AccuStock, AccuTrigger & AccuFit
Savage boasts that their AccuStock is similar but more durable than custom glass bedding. The entire action is seated in a machined aluminum chassis. The AccuTrigger is adjustable by the user and is crisp and sharp and is reported to be one of the best factory triggers on the market. It’s adjustable from 2.5-6 pounds. The AccuFit stock comes with different inserts for length of pull and comb height so that you can fit the gun to your body. These features combined on a shotgun should offer remarkable consistency and precision.
Magazine Fed, Optics Ready
The Model 212/220 comes with a polymer two-round magazine. Additional mags are $30 on the Savage website.
The gun comes with a Picatinny style rail already mounted so it’s ready for whatever optics you choose. Perhaps a 1-4x scope with an illuminated reticle for those early birds in the underbrush. I might even try something a little stronger for the late shotgun season on elk.
Winchester Chokes
This gun comes with an extra-full choke so you’re ready to concentrate pellets on your tom’s head. Both the 12 gauge and 20 gauge models use Winchester’s choke thread so you can also switch it for the custom XXX turkey massacre choke of your choice. Or, swap for a cylinder choke and go after big game with slugs.
Savage’s Model 212/220 turkey bolt action shotgun offers a lot of precision details for turkey hunters. And when you consider all the custom fit and the trigger, the MSRP of $779 for 12 gauge and $695 for 20 gauge sounds pretty fair. Check it out at Savagearms.com.

Now if they made it in a rifled bore for slug/a bit loads, this would be a great deer gun for people in states that do not allow rifles.
They do, its called the 212 Slug Gun. I have one and they are very accurate. I currently have a 212 Turkey on order and just waiting for it to arrive for our states spring turkey season.
