The Incog X, a collaboration from Safariland and Haley Strategic Partners, marks the 10th anniversary of the Incog IWB series with a newly redesigned, RDS-compatible holster that stands out for deep concealment and adaptability. This version offers practical upgrades and a thoughtful approach to concealed carry, considering comfort and ease of use.

Comfortable, Skin-Friendly Build

What immediately sets the Incog X apart from standard IWB holsters is its microfiber suede-wrapped Boltaron body. Unlike Kydex, which can feel hard and heat up quickly, the microfiber-wrapped Boltaron offers a cooler, more comfortable feel against the skin—especially noticeable during the Texas summer. This suede layer manages heat better, reducing the sweat that typically comes with wearing an IWB holster in warm weather. It’s a welcome detail that enhances all-day wearability without sacrificing durability. For me, it was the most immediate and unforgettable aspect of the holster

Adaptable Design for Multiple Carry Positions

The Incog X’s versatility is one of its standout features. It allows for a wide range of carry positions, whether appendix or strong side, without compromising accessibility. A particularly useful aspect is the improved clip strut design. It includes three sizes of concealment shims (1/8”, 1/4”, and 3/8”) that make it easy to fine-tune the holster for different body types and clothing. The shims are tool-free, snapping into place with ease. A finger tab on the holster allows for quick installation or removal, making it efficient to adjust on the fly.

Broad Compatibility with Popular Pistol and Light Setups

The Incog X is designed to accommodate a wide range of firearm and weapon light combinations, making it an available choice for different setups. The model I tested was specifically for a Glock 19 paired with a Streamlight TLR-7 weapon light, which fit snugly and securely. However, Safariland offers this holster for various configurations, including models from popular brands like Arex, Glock, PSA, Shadow Systems, SIG Sauer, Smith & Wesson, Springfield Armory, Staccato, Wilson, and ZEV. This wide compatibility gives users the flexibility to find an Incog X holster for multiple pistol and weapon light setups.

Passive Retention and Smooth Draw

The Incog X relies on passive retention with adjustable tension. This allows you to dial in the right amount of hold for your firearm. The tension adjustments offer a good range for a secure, smooth draw, even in close-contact scenarios. The retention system on this model covers the trigger guard and ejection port. This helps balance retention strength with an accessible, fluid draw.

Optional Magazine Caddy for Added Functionality

A nice bonus is the optional mag caddy that attaches directly to the holster. This feature offers an all-in-one setup that keeps a spare magazine at hand without adding bulk. It attaches securely and is fully adjustable for tension, giving added convenience without a separate mag holder. For years, I’ve carried with holsters that include an integrated mag holder. I appreciate having those extra rounds at hand. The mag caddy also helps minimize the pistol’s outline, reducing any visible printing against my shirt.

Final Thoughts

The Incog X is designed for users who prioritize both concealment and adaptability. Its ergonomic design and microfiber-wrapped Boltaron provide noticeable comfort improvements over traditional Kydex, making it a solid choice for users seeking a more wearable holster, especially in hot environments. For concealed carriers looking for a well-thought-out, versatile IWB holster with comfortable materials and reliable retention, the Incog X is a practical and reliable option.

It is available directly from Safariland with a price between $92-$123 depending on the pistol/light combo, and if you choose to get the mag caddy as well. This falls right in line with other IWB holsters, and I have no hesitation recommending it for solid retention and everyday comfort.
