In the blitz of demand for Ruger’s polymer pistols, it is easy to forget that America’s gunmaker has the widest line of firearms in the industry. For SHOT 2013 Ruger has introduced three new bolt rifles based on the reliable M77 platform. All three guns have a new heavy caliber muzzle brake from Ruger called the “radial-port” muzzle brake that is said to reduce recoil significantly, and we can’t wait to get one of these guns in to give them a try. The Ruger Guide Gun has an estimated street price of about $900 and is available in several .30 caliber magnums up to .375 Ruger. The new Hawkeye African with the radial-port muzzle brake is available in calibers up to .416 Rigby and is expected to be the same price. Both of those guns have open sights installed, and it appears there will be a left hand in .375 Ruger. The Magnum Hunter is currently available in only .300 WIn. Mag. at $829 expected street price, and comes standard with a Hogue overmolded stock. We also expect a few new Ruger #1 rifles this year, including maybe a .284, but they weren’t ready for the show. There is also a new lightweight American we hope to get to later in the week. Expect an exciting year for Ruger hunting rifles, made in America by Americans. This is a sneak peek with our host Julie Mac from Media Day at the Range, SHOT Show 2013.
When is Ruger going to make a lever action rifle ??? Would be nice to see 30-30 , 357, 44 mag in a 20 and 24 barrel produced by Ruger!!!
It appears to be very similar to my Savage Bear Hunter 375 Ruger. Mine is 3″ longer, .25 lb. lighter, and has a muzzle break that can be rotated to an off position. I took my elk with a 225 gr Hornady Interlock traveling at 3100 fps (muzzle velocity). It was a 321 yard cross canyon shot, prone with a bipod. I know that it sounds crazy to shoot a gun with around 37 foot pounds of recoil prone but after many frustrating trips to the range during load development I figured out that the scope tapping my eye during recoil was what caused me to flinch. This does not happen prone. I abandoned the bench for prone with a bipod and my groups shrank considerably. It is true that you don’t feel the recoil. I also don’t hear the shot like I would at the range. But, what do I know, I’ve launched a TOW missile at a T-62 without hearing protection. Still, I want a Ruger Guide Gun in 375 Ruger, just not exactly sure why.
I’VE BEEN A RUGER FAN FOR 45YRS. I’M ALSO A LEFTY THAT CONTINUES TO FEEL LEFT OUT BY RUGER. DON’T BE SO HARD ON U D DICK I BELIEVE HE IS MENTALLY CHALLENGED. AND DOESN’T KNOW HOW TO REMOVE A REMOVABLE MUZZLE BRAKE! AND DOESN’T KNOW ABOUT AMPLIFIED HEARING PROTECTION THAT PLUGS INTO THE EAR.
Unlicensed drivel is a dick with every comment because he equates rudeness to toughness. Which, means (I guarantee it!) he is nothing but a small “man” with HUGE insecurities.
“Ruger proves again they understand hunters” … How so? They offer “African rifles” in non-african calibers… there’s a REASON that .416 rigby, .404 jeffrey, .505 gibbs, .500 jeffrey, nitro chamberings, .458 winmag and lott are DG african rifle chamberings — the lower pressures insures action cycling and extraction in 110 F african heat – these chamberings are not african chamberings – they’re high-pressure ruger chamberings that can get you killed, perhaps even with a PH with a double gun. And they’re putting loudeners on hunting rifles, which makes no sense… the last thing on earth you need as a hunter is something that makes you go deaf from shooting in the hunting field AND adds weight… absurd really, when you think about it (the muzzle brake craze on hunting rifles). You don’t feel recoil in the field, and you need to go to a lighter chambering if you can’t handle it at the bench for extended practice sessions… unless you just have a penchant for tinnitus and relatives/ spouses having to repeat everything.
What is WITH this loudener craze? You don’t feel recoil when hunting.. gonna be a lot of deaf and tinnitus-afflicted hunters in a few years.
I want a 10/22 mag.
HEllo site hello my site ı from turkey ı have got a hunter shop. my turkey
