At SHOT Show 2022, Rock Island Armory (RIA) announced its very first striker-fired pistol, the aluminum-framed STK100. Featuring a 1911 grip angle, RIA told us that this pistol has “all the advantages of metal for the price of a polymer.”
Rock Island’s claim to fame with this pistol is in its frame. The STK100 features a patented clamshell design, which combines two aluminum halves together to make the complete frame. This design helps keep manufacturing costs down, and the savings are passed on to the consumer.
This all-aluminum frame features a praised 1911 grip angle and includes ample texturing for a tight grip in adverse weather conditions. Using an extended beavertail also allows users to get a higher and tighter purchase to reduce muzzle rise after a shot.
Right from the factory, the STK100 comes with lightening cuts and a top window in the slide. The slide also utilizes both front and rear slide serrations, as well as some on the top near the front sight post.
RIA incorporates my favorite type of rear sight as well, a serrated anti-glare blacked-out rear sight paired with a single, front white dot sight using a tenon cut with a retaining screw. These sights work well, but for those who would like to upgrade to a red dot, the STK100 is ready to go with an optic plate covering the Vortex Venom patterned slide cut.
The trigger has an acceptable take-up, clean break, and a very short and positive reset. Chambered in 9mm and using a standard 17-round Glock magazine, the STK100 is going to be easy to feed. With many interchangeable features and widely-available aftermarket Glock parts, the STK100 is going to be a great option for many!
Available and shipping now with an MSRP of $599, the Rock Island Armory STK100 combines the benefits of metal-framed durability, at the price of polymer.

it just looks “cheap”…… as for the price there is just toooooo much out there to justify $600+ for this bulk???
Looks like a nice G19 Gen3 copy. Unless there is a substantial difference in price, why would anyone buy one? Dropping the price from $500 to $400 is a step in the right direction. With the PSA Dagger at $300 there has to be some justification for the price. An aluminum frame? I’d rather have polymer.
We Have Enough 9mm’s on the Market!,We Need some more 10mm’s!,Better Stoping Power,in the Woods Hunting, and on The Street in a Case of Self Defense!,or Home Invasion!
I’m not much of a 9’er, beyond Hi Power for effectiveness, P-38 for simple manufacture.
Anyway, we all poo-hooed the Beretta 92 for an open slide, right? How are ports, being even harder to clear, now OK?
Another 9mm handgun. (yawn)
Unfortunately this dosnt seem to have run its course and probably never will. The offspring of the same father impregnating multiple women. Row after row of blocky plastic semi autos have the same effect on me as watching concrete harden. The only thing exciting is the reintroduction of the Hi Power.
I am looking to buy one for my wife..can she conceal it in her purse..and how heavy is it…can I see it first…is it in stores in New Hampshire
Good question on the weight… on the other questions this article is just meant to introduce you to a new product. The column writer has no idea what is happening at your local dealer. Go there and ask questions and find out.
Let me amend that. The question about weight was answered. Look at the specs. You can do it.
0.82 kg
So they made an Aluminum Glock. That’s what should have been led with. I never understood Glocks until I owned one. They are just plain reliable and sturdy, hopefully the Rock Island version is as well.
