RISE Armament T121XR 6.5 Creedmoor Rifle – SHOT Show 2018

in Authors, Long Range Archive, SHOT Show 2018, Thomas Gomez

RISE Armament, traditionally known for their awesome drop-in triggers premiered their new T121XR rifle at the 2018 SHOT Show Range Day. Building upon the success of the .308 Winchester 1121XR Precision Rifle, the T121XR is an AR-10 patterned rifle that is chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor.

The T121XR that I shot during Range Day had a 20-inch 416R stainless steel barrel and a Magpul PRS Adjustable stock. The trigger was simply amazing because it was the RISE RA-535 Advanced-Performance Trigger. The RISE RA-535 is a single stage, 3.5 lb trigger that has a very crisp release, little to no overtravel and a very fast reset.

The RISE T121XR rifle. For an Ar-10 patterned rifle, it felt very compact. I am a big fan of the new Magpul PRS stock.

The T121XR

I am a huge fan of 6.5 Creedmoor. After you shoot it, you will never go back to .308. I had minimal problems getting a first round hit with the T121XR at 960 yards. Compared to some Ar-10 pattered rifles I have shot recently, the RISE Armament T121XR was fairly light and compact. The T121XR would shine for hunting or Precision Rifle competition. You could lay waste to a pack of coyotes or feral hogs with this rifle. 20 inches is the minimum length I would personally go for a 6.5 Creedmoor. For the 960 yards, I held 8 mils for elevation. That is impressive, and typically what I hold for my custom bolt gun, which is chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor and has a 24-inch barrel.

Note the throw on the safety selector on the T121XR rifle. It is very easy to go from “fire” to “safe”.

RISE did a good job with the T121XR rifle, and it is a system that I would love to take out to the ranch and take out to a mile. Getting an AR-10 patterned rifle to run is a little bit more difficult than an Ar-15 patterned rifle. After going through the rifle, and assessing the build quality, I have a lot of confidence that the T121XR is a high-quality piece of kit. RISE guarantees that these rifles will be SUB-moa. The T121XR has an MSRP of around $2,500. Expectation is that you’ll be able to pick this rifle up in the near future.
