The company that purchased Remington late last year is getting ready to re-open and re-launch as early as March 1, 2021 — in a couple of weeks! The company, the Roundhill Group, acquired a federal firearms license and has set up a website.
The website is RemArms.com. Company representatives said that the first firearm to go back into production will be the Model 870 shotgun.
“It’ll be the 870, that’ll be the first gun,” said Roundhill partner Richmond Italia. The new owners hope to bring back at least 200 employees to their Ilion facility in New York, eventually employing or re-employing as many as a thousand workers at the original location.
“As for the balance, we will just confirm that the others have not just been delayed or lost in the mail and then we will continue to offer employment to fill all 200 positions,” Italia told the Times-Telegram. “Our hopes are to consolidate in Ilion and go back to an 800-employee facility.
“That number is highly contingent on our negotiations with the county and the state of New York, and, of course, the union,” he added.
“We’re deep in negotations with the state, trying to come up with some sort of compromise to build a new facility,” Italia said in another interview. “If we are able to come to terms and we do build a new facility, we will consolidate everything in New York, which will bring the company back to 800 to 1,000 employees, eventually.”
Probably the biggest concern among Remington’s customer base is the future quality of these renowned products. After all, it was under a different capital management group that really caused the company to come apart in the first place.
Roundhill partner Jeff Edwards has some reassuring words about that. “We have the means,” he said. “We have the passion and we’re going to give them the tools so they can go do their jobs and stay out of their way.”

“It just seemed like the right thing to do,” Edwards told All Outdoor. “I grew up with Remington products in my hands, and I’m just really passionate about the product and the people they have.”
“They suffered from, I hate to say it, but poor ownership,” he continued. “They’d fix one problem and then a new tidal wave of financial burden would come. It’s an iconic American brand, one of the oldest, continuously operating manufacturing companies in our country, and they make great stuff if they are given the resources and the time to do it.”
While it really is too early to know how a re-forged Remington will perform, it’s not too early to have some hope for the future of the historic American manufacturer.
I’m going to root for America’s longest lasting gun company. I own a 7600 and I’ll buy the first one they build in 243 or 308. It is for my purposes the best rifle for everything but open warfare.it feels good in the hands and is fast and accurate as far as I can see.

One of the big mistakes Remington made with their Marlin division was to move the manufacturing to another State and the older master gunsmiths from the original company refused to move. The new Remington has an excellent opportunity to start from the ground up in TX, MT, or even FL and escape the idiocy NY. But please, if you do relocate, leave your bad habits in NY. Liberal policies and firearms don’t mix well.
WHAT IS THE LOVE FOR THE STATE OF NEW YORK? They need to go to a pro gun state where taxes are cheaper and the stupid overzealous gun laws do not exist. Other wards they will be filing for bankruptcy again in a short period of time if they stay in New York.

Will little Mario, and Litigious James allow Remington to operate in New Forked ? Why would they want to reorganize in a state where the powers that be made it clear that they did not want them ? I love Remington products, and I am glad that it looks like they are going to reorganize, and come out of this, but is the “Empire Strikes Back State” the place to do it ? I agree that NY should not be the place to start over. Go South or West where firearms are appreciated and the quality of life is better anyway. Let any former employee relocation and help with moving expenses. In the long run everyone will be better off
I also believe that they are making a huge mistake by staying in New York and then trying to deal with the Union. These two groups are a bad bad mistake. They together will ruin any chance of making a comback. I sorry will not buy your product for those 2 reasons. Both state and orginization are Communist backed. SORRY

The ammunition side of Remington was purchased by Vista Outdoor Inc. They are now 2 separate companies.
I agree with not using New York. That would be inviting legal disaster. I love Remington to the point that my grandson is named Remington! But, New York is NOT the place to attempt a comeback.
The Roundhill Group doesn’t have anything to do with Remington ammunition or setting up the website for Remington ammunition. That’s all Vista Outdoor Holdings, the owner of Federal, Speer, CCI, Hevi-shot, etc.
I grew up in “Remington Country”. When you bought a gun it was Remiington..from slide action 22’s to slide action shotguns to slide action rifles. Bolt action, semiautos and the wonderful XP pistol. But I left N.Y. and took my business with me.Taxes,high cost of energy, imbeciles in city,county, state government made it impossible to tolerate. A man has a short window in life to be successful and its extremely hard in a place that wacks you across the shins at almost every opportunity. The smartest thing I ever did was GTOF out of New York State. I wish them well but I think in 5-10 years time they will be bankrupt.

Instead of negotiating with the state of NY, (who doesn’t want gun companies anyway), negotiate with Huntsville AL, to get back into the factory they had there. Offer relocation to any employee who wants to move. Businesses and people are fleeing NY state and city in droves for all kinds of good reasons. Roundhill Group wants to go back in?
