I would really like to see a yearly review of thermal optics (scopes, binos, monos). Very hard to find honest reviews of these products. Most “reviews” are just a rehash of the manufacturer’s specs and claims. It’s scary to invest thousands of dollars in something that is usually bought on-line, only to be disappointed
I agree. I bought an ATN night vision scope based on the hype once. Thankfully, I could still return the POS.
Although this scope is well above my affordability index (and illegal for hunting in California), it has a remarkably low sticker for what it offers. You guys should definitely review this one.
I could be wrong, but I was told thermal scopes are illegal to even install on a firearm in Minnesota, let alone hunt with them. And Minnesota is much more gun friendly than California. Go figure? If anything, a thermal scope will allow a person to see what is rustling in the bushes much better than a conventional scope. Guessing the legislators figure that hunters would shoot at anything that throws off body heat…even though you can clearly see the shape/size of what you might shoot much better with thermal imaging.
