Responding to a new generation of threats, DroneShield is announcing a new, long-range man-portable drone defense system. Called the DroneGun Tactical Drone Jammer, the anti-drone weapon is supposed to be effective out to over 1,000 yards.
Designed to stop consumer and hobby-grade drones, the Drone Jammer works by blocking communication signals to drones with a focused beam of radio frequency interference. Unlike other DroneShield products, the Tactical Drone Jammer is completely portable while still delivering good range.
These small, affordable drones have many fun and positive uses. But like any new technology, plenty of people are looking for new ways to exploit them and break other systems.
Drones are being used to move everything from contraband to explosives. They’re a risk-free way to deliver drugs, phones and bombs. This poses a real problem for law enforcement, corrections, and military personnel everywhere.

When a drone loses its signal, it will usually either land safely in a vertical drop or return to its launch position. Both cases are a win. If there are explosives on board they can be approached and safely destroyed. If the drone starts to head home, it can help track down its users. In both cases, the safe landings ensure that investigators will have something to start with evidence-wise.
The DroneGun Tactical runs off two rechargeable lithium-ion power packs and has a run time of about 30 minutes. With a total weight of just under 15 pounds with a spare battery it truly is portable. The gun, case and all its included accessories weigh 35 pounds.
DroneShield designed the whole unit to be user-friendly. The company stresses that the device is completely straightforward and requires no special training to use.
The jammer can block one or more frequencies simultaneously including 433MHz, 915MHz, 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz frequencies. It can also optionally block GPS functions.

Don’t get your hopes up about picking of these up to mess with your neighbors, though. Jammers like these are tightly-regulated — essentially banned — by the FCC in the U.S. Special exemptions have to be made even for government users.
“This device is not, and may not be, offered for sale or lease, or sold or leased, in the United States, other than to the United States government and its agencies, until such authorization is obtained,” explains DroneGun Tactical.
“The use of DroneGun Tactical in the United States by other persons or entities, including state or local government agencies, is prohibited by federal law,” the company said. “Laws limiting the availability of DroneGun Tactical to certain types of users may apply in other jurisdictions, and any sales will be conducted only in compliance with the applicable laws.”
With that in mind, it’s clear that there is still a market for these systems in the U.S. and around the world. From battlefields to prison yards drones are a growing problem for security everywhere.

One can’t help but wonder though, if it will follow the madness of a market like the radar-gun/radar-detector market in law-enforcement. Build a radar gun… build a FuzzBuster… build a better gun… build a better detector… go to laser… detect THAT!…
As drones become more and more relied upon by law enforcement, jamming will grow ever more an issue and is likely to bleed over into the civil market as well.

Well I can see a problem but seriously my drone will fly 34 miles in length or up to 12,000’ high . If a criminal wants to be a criminal dropping a package well beyond their reach that’s easily done . Today it’s very easiy to purchase extender chips from other country’s . The USA now forbids these chips based on criminals uses . So I’m wondering when will we also make all vehicles illegals as well I mean after one big truck ramming a crowd can kill a lot of people as we’ve seen . Drones are now deep in America , like building a big wall 😂 on the border drones now bring in more drugs than pack mules . The wall will slow down drugs passing over our border and slow down on illegal immigration! If drug dealers had to “drone over” all of the drugs coming in, it would slow things down considerably. Also, the US Government could install signal blockers along the length of the wall so that drones wouldn’t work. Things will get worse again along the Southern border as soon as a Democrat is elected president. A wall is a good idea, unless we are planning to invade Mexico and make them US territory! We need to have the death penalty for drug dealers, drug users, and drug money launderers in my opinion, or else we really aren’t going to be effective in decreasing the drug trade.

I guess you’ve never been bird hunting! Bird shot count is in the hundreds of pellets, and falls harmlessly to the ground when shot high into the air. You can hear the pellets hitting the ground all around you, and all you do is lower your head to ensure none hit you in the face. If a load of 6’s can kill a pheasant at 40 yards, they’d likely take out a hobby drone at the same distance. That said, you could only do this in a place where you can shoot a shotgun already. No standing on the back porch in suburbia and blowing your neighbor’s drone out of the sky.
