Overview
Silencerco’s Maxim 9 made some serious waves when it was first announced two years ago, and now it is actually in production. For those of you who may not be familiar with it, the Maxim is an integrally suppressed pistol. Originally based on a Beretta 92, and then an M&P, the production model now accepts Glock magazines and sights. The gun itself is all Silencerco, but good move on making it support arguably the most prolific magazine on the market. The Maxim comes in long or short configuration, and the long is user capable of being reduced to the short size. In short mode, the pistol is hearing safe with any 147-grain ammunition. In long mode, it is hearing safe with ANY 9mm ammunition. That is pretty cool in its own right.
Impression
The biggest advantage to this pistol is the overall length. Most suppressed pistols look like the Joker pistol from Jack Nicholson’s original character. The overall size of the Maxim in both models is close to a normal size gun with a flashlight attached. The new model also comes with an RMR cut already in the slide. If it works as advertised, this is going to be a game changer in suppressed pistols.
Price & Availability
The Maxim 9 is available now and is priced (in both long and short versions) at $1,499. For those looking for a ready-to-go system with an integrated suppressor, the Maxim 9 definitely deserves a very close look.

Except for the new toy factor, it looks like a solution looking for a problem to solve.
Looks to be a legitimate game changer. This gun has a nice, long sight radius and futuristic supressor and comes in at a decent price. accepting standard mags is always a good move and makes said mags more available. where can i get one?
Amusing comments as usual. I’ve shot it and it’s amazing. It is less than 140 dB for the person who asked the question. It is also quieter at the shooter’s ear than at the standard testing point because of the design. This is a truly unique system and impressive in person.
Also gotta love Clay’s muzzle discipline even when he knows the gun is empty. You don’t see that at SHOT every day with all the ninjas running around Flag City.

If it makes you feel better , I\’ll buy one just not now with ATF wait time being over 8+ months ! I have 6 pending since May of last year ! Nothing like being the first kid on the block with one ! This is like buying a 45-70 or a 50 S&W as your first gun to shoot ! Silencerco makes the best / Sparrows on all my 22\’s
Hearing damage begins at 85db and higher.
Passing wind according to LGBT is 110db. you should shouldn\’t have your head so close !
I agree with Billy Bob. I have a Gentech for the KPOS Glock 19, I bulit. The only reason to justify that purchase is splitting the cost 700 suppressor + 800 for the gun. You could buy a Kimber or better for that 800. The wait for NFA is the same. Trust me I know about that. And you get portability, that’s a lot of mass on the Maxim. Nothing bets small footprint and portability.
ATF FORMS should not take more than a MONTH from the time you MAIL it till the time you get it BACK !
Form 4\\’s are taking 8 + to a YEAR to get back ! Spend $50,000 for a 1921 Thompson from a person in another state
pay $200 to get it transferred to a FFL dealer your state (8+ month wait for ATF approval ) THEN WAIT ANOTHER 8+
MONTHS TO A YEAR TO GET IT TRANSFERRED TO YOU ! WHILE YOU WAIT YOUR $50,000 gun is bouncing around
in someone else s safe and WHO KNOWS IF THEY ARE TEST DRIVING YOUR GUN or letting it rust or get banged up
while they take guns in and out of the safe ! IF IT IS STOLEN from the person who sold it to you ,does he have insurance or
the money to pay you back ? If it is STOLEN from the dealer does he have insurance or money to pay you ?
After waiting a YEAR & A HALF and the PRICE has GONE UP to $60,000 are they going to pay for the WAIT and the CURRENT PRICE ? What happens if the DEALER GOES BANKRUPT with your gun in his inventory , by law it\\’s his till ATF says otherwise ! ATF DO YOUR JOB OR GET HELP TO DO YOUR JOB !
Lol…Kimber. Let’s go with “or better”.
What the Db. lever & velocity with different weight ammo ? Can you shoot lead bullets in it ? Can you take it apart to clean the gun & suppressor (does it come apart too ) ?
Why would I want to wait a couple of months for it to get transfered dealer to dealer them wait amother 8+ months to over a YEAR TO GET IT ? When I can buy a MULTI CALI suppressor and use it on RIFLES & PISTOLS ?
A bit bulky for conceal carry, but then again any suppressed weapon may not be suitable……..
