President Obama, once again opening his yapper about the need to “do more” to stop gun violence.
It’s always interesting to note the ways in which anti-gunners demonize firearms. Take president Obama for example, while addressing the National Governors Association on Monday, the gun-grabber-in-chief made the following remark, “On Saturday, another one of our communities was terrorized by gun violence.”
Obama was referring to a spree killer who murdered six people and left, at least, two others wounded in Kalamazoo, MI, over the weekend.
What bothers me about that remark is that it’s misleading. Guns didn’t terrorize Kalamazoo, the crazed shooter, identified as 45-year-old Jason Brian Dalton, did! By shifting the blame from Dalton to firearms, Obama is perpetuating the myth that guns, in and of themselves, are responsible for violence — not the individuals pulling the trigger.
Communities, therefore, aren’t terrorized by gun violence, they’re terrorized by crazy people (“crazy,” as in murderous, sociopathic, etc.) who are armed with all sorts of weapons, yes, including firearms. We stop crazy people, we stop the violence. It’s that simple. But, of course, Obama has other ideas.
After mentioning his executive actions to expand the background check system, Obama said, “It’s clear we’re going to need to do more to keep innocent Americans safe.”
Without directly stating the obvious, Obama means gun control. He means restricting the rights of law-abiding gun owners. He means banning many commonly owned and widely popular firearms. He means gutting the Second Amendment.
What he doesn’t mean, what he doesn’t really care to do, is the obvious. Stop crazy people.
Now, let me be clear, I know I said stopping crazy people was “simple,” yes, as in simple to understand. We all know what we need to do. In practice though, it’s a bit more difficult. We don’t have a reliable means to stop crazy people before they start acting crazy. However, what we do have is a surefire way to stop them after they start acting crazy.
You know where I’m going with this. Guns. That’s right. Firearms are capable tools for putting a stop to a crazy individual. Again, we all know this. It’s why all of our communities are protected by good guys with guns. We we ought to be doing, then, is encourage more responsible citizens to exercise their right to keep and bear arms. It’s really just common sense.
However, I’m positive that’s not what Obama had in mind when he made a plea to the governors to come together on this issue.
“I’ve got to assume that all of you are just tired as I am of seeing this stuff happen in your state,” said Obama. “So, that’s an area where we also need to partner and think about what we can do in a common sense way, in a bipartisan way without some of the ideological rhetoric that so often surrounds that issue.”
We’re definitely tired. Tired this administration’s constant grind to demonize firearms and disarm the law-abiding.
Maybe some Barry Soetoro aka BHO will answer for the illegal gun running scheme he conducted on Mexico.
It’s not the gun that kills as much as the bomb. Bombs kill many more indiscriminately then do guns. Can we ban the bomb or the knife or the sword or poison or a blunt object or even a fire bomb? We are a country with over three hundred million guns, of which most are legal and owned by over 80 million citizens. When a person is bent on killing, the weapon they use is unimportant. Did Timothy McVeigh use a gun to kill a 160 people or Mohammed Atta use a gun to kill 3,000 people.
The bottom line is, that guns also prevent a great deal of crime and deter many people that think twice about going up against police or military that can shoot back. Towns with armed citizens have lower crime rates. We tend to emphasize all gun killings, but rarely speak of those that were saved by guns. Removing all the guns will make criminals ecstatic, as they will have a field day, since gun laws do not apply to them. All dictators and despots around the world always disarm their people so no one can fight back. Does anyone really know which side Obama is on?
It is time the Oboma mouth acts as an example.Disarm his security people.Advertise that they are no longer armed. Tell the nuts that he is a gun free zone. Lets see how far that goes?
Most of the people who are killing with guns, knifes, bombs, cars are brain damage and no one can stop people who are willing to kill our fellow Americans. The only way to stop brain damage people is to have a side arm ready to use anytime of day or place. so you can stop brain damage nuts that kill people. Every person in this Country who can pass a brain test should be able to have a side arm of there choice to use when ever. They must also show the use and know how to use the side arm of there choice. We may have less killers on the loose if we all become protectors of each other. I know of many people who are CCW in Church today because the Pastor said the Law does not protect you when you have killers running around this Country.
Keeping guns out of the hands of criminals like those in DC would go a long way to ending mass murder on a scale most aren’t willing to even look at. The injustice of such hypocrisy is a thing even a baby will fight against! Wait till the adults get involved.

My Thoughts are this, and my customers which ARE gun carrying citizens of Kalamazoo will echo these thoughts, Mr. Obama go to your own town of Chicago and talk about gun violence gone out of control and leave our city alone! Do NOT use our loss for your own political gains! The families of the victims here are not concerned one bit if the person PRAYING beside them are Democrat or Republican. Contained between the lines of your comment is the notion that our nation was built upon two things that scarcely ever receive mention: namely, freedom includes the the responsibility for family members, neighbors, co-workers and the private community to sniff guys like this out and urge if not tease and constrain a different sort of behavior out of them. I probably have 40 or so firearms in my collection and for as long as I’ve owned them, they have not killed anyone. A couple are rifles from WW-II and such and they might very well have killed a few people, but they have been very well behaved since that time and I trust them well enough to even leave them loaded in a room and know that they will not go out and hurt someone on their on.

Ronald Reagan relaxed the mental health laws that we had protecting us, and ironically, was shot by a crazy person. Nobody then, and nobody now, bothers to make that correlation. Our government makes choices. Choice 1: Mandate mental health screenings at the 9th grade level to detect and treat the mentally ill BEFORE they run amok, then fund it. Choice 2: Invest in multi-billion dollar ships and jets that are a failure. What do they choose, why number 2 of course!
“Our” government doesn’t care about the people, just their own specialized weapons. Obama has already said some blither comparing our country to other countries when it came to mental health, failing to realize that those other countries can’t compare to us. But why beat a dead horse? We already know he’d sell us out, and has tried before.
One of the reasons the laws were changed was that police were abusing the 3 day psychiatric evaluation law, to take people off the streets. That led to a lot of lawsuits. The solution? Have a panel of 3 on-call psychiatrists available to every police station, so that someone suspected of being mentally ill can be evaluated, then if they agree, give him the 3 day psych-eval.
If we don’t change our mental health laws and treatments, no amount of gun control will do anything, as psycho don’t obey laws. He probably knew it was illegal to shoot people, yet he did it anyway, so THAT law sure didn’t do anything. More will have the same effect. Nothing.

If he didn’t expressly say “gun control,” he very well may have meant better mental health assessment and treatment. They seem to be more concerned with keeping people with criminal history and mental health issues from doing something stupid rather than keeping average Americans from their right to gun ownership.
So, the real issue is this: if you have mental health issues or a history of crime you obviously will disagree with these measures. For the rest of us, would we prefer that people die from the inability to protect themselves or from the rash actions of people who are not capable of responsible gun ownership?
I’m not a proponent of gun rights to all simply because the bill of rights said so. Some Americans have splintered from the generally well intentioned people they used to be and the scum of the earth have emerged. If you’re incapable of controlling yourself and you prey upon the weak, you don’t deserve the right to protect yourself. Nonviolent offenders are another story.
Then again, it all means nothing if we don’t crack down on illegal possession and sales.
