Nighthawk Custom, a world-class leader in premium 1911s and other firearms, just announced a Commander-sized pistol in their Ambassador series, the new Delegate. Offered in both 9mm Luger and .45 ACP, the Delegate is a choice everyday carry 1911.

The Delegate is a forged steel-framed pistol with stainless steel components built for a lifetime of use. Like other Nighthawk guns, the Delegate isn’t just made to last, it’s also tightly hand-fit with match features that make it just as capable at the range or as a competition pistol, in addition to being a solid 1911 for self-defense.

The Delegate has a 4.25-inch match bull barrel with a deep flush-cut crown. The slide features front and rear serrations and sports Heinie Ledge sights with a tritium lamp up front. It has an extended magazine release and serrated left-side manual thumb safety, an adjustable medium, skeletonized and serrated trigger, and a lightened combat-style hammer.

It’s a slender pistol that measures in at 1.3 inches wide at the controls and less than an inch wide at the slide. It comes standard with thin Railscales G10 grips, a left-side manual thumb safety and a flat, finely checkered mainspring housing. The beavertail is extended with a “memory button” and the frame is fit with a flush slimline magazine well for fast and confident reloads.

Weighing in at 38 ounces the Delegate isn’t a featherweight pistol, which will help with felt recoil and allow for fast follow-up shots. Overall it measures in at just over 7.7 inches long and 5.5 inches tall, with up to a 9+1-round capacity in 9mm.

Built to order, Nighthawk offers the Delegate with a number of options and extras, including custom lettering, barrel fluting, a choice of Cerakote finishes, optional ambidextrous safety levers, alternate sights, and even a slide machined to accept mini red dot sights.

Like other high-end Nighthawk Custom pistols, the price is up there, starting at $3,899 before options. Still, Nighthawk is one of the best names in the industry, and a lot of time and effort goes into these hand-crafted pistols.

Nice gun. But if it’s so expensive that you’re afraid to carry it, what does it accomplish?
No wonder people buy a (ugh) HiPoint!
