Like practically every other rifle that debuted at the 2018 SHOT Show, the Sauer 100 Pantera is available in 6.5 Creedmoor. Unlike everyone else, however, the Sauer 100 Pantera can be purchased in the 6.5 PRC cartridge. The 6.5 PRC, or 6.5 Precision Rifle Cartridge was launched in 2017. Long range guru and custom rifle maker George Gardner assisted in the development of the 6.5 PRC, and the bullet is optimized for the high BC, 143 and 147-grain ELD/ELD-X bullets. Think 6.5 Creedmoor in short magnum case that goes an extra 300 feet per second.
Last summer my colleagues Clay Martin, Phil Massaro and I spent several days behind the Sauer 100 Classic XT rifle chambered in .223. The Sauer 100’s we shot were easily sub-moa rifles and handled a non-stop firing schedule over the course of several days. From beginning to end the rifles simply performed.

Impressions & Pricing
Over the last couple of years, Sauer has introduced more products geared towards the American market. Sauer is mass producing a rifle chambered in a new state of the art cartridge. Bold move! It was the only production rifle I saw chambered in 6.5 PRC. Hornady is offering two loads for the 6.5 PRC. A 143-grain ELD-X Precision hunter, and a 147-grain ELD Match. The Sauer 100 Pantera has an MSRP of $1,599. I’m looking forward to getting this rifle in for review in coming months and seeing how well it performs.

Not a darn thing on the Sauer website about the new product. May be a nice looking rifle, but poor marketing efforts…
