In a move to protect taxpayer dollars and 2A rights, Congressman Andrew Clyde (GA-09) introduced the Medicaid Funds Integrity Act.

The bill aims to block federal Medicaid funds from being used for “gun violence prevention” programs that push a gun control agenda.

Targeting Anti-Gun Medicaid Initiatives

The Biden-Harris Administration recently announced executive orders allowing Medicaid to finance “firearm safety” counseling.

States like California, Connecticut, and New York have already enacted laws enabling Medicaid reimbursement for these services. Rep. Clyde’s legislation seeks to shut down such efforts, calling them a misuse of taxpayer dollars.

“Americans’ hard-earned tax dollars have no place furthering the Left’s unconstitutional gun control agenda,” Clyde stated. “Rather than supporting law enforcement and empowering lawful gun owners, liberal states are determined to divert federal Medicaid dollars to fund false ‘violence prevention’ programs.”

Clyde argued that Medicaid funds should be reserved for healthcare, not politically charged initiatives aimed at restricting gun ownership.

Strong Support from Gun Rights Advocates

The bill has gained immediate backing from prominent Second Amendment organizations.

Aidan Johnston, Director of Federal Affairs for Gun Owners of America, emphasized the risks of politicized programs, saying, “Programs like this are bound to be weaponized by anti-gun administrations… Gun control has nothing to do with healthcare.”

Hunter King, Director of Government Relations for the National Association for Gun Rights, echoed similar concerns: “Allowing federal funds to support gun violence prevention programs under Medicaid is a gross misuse of taxpayer dollars, aimed at advancing radical gun control agendas.”

A Growing Coalition of Support

The Medicaid Funds Integrity Act has drawn support from over two dozen Republican lawmakers, including high-profile names like Reps. Andy Biggs (AZ-05), Dan Crenshaw (TX-02), and Chip Roy (TX-21).

Organizations such as Gun Owners of America (GOA) and the National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR) are, as mentioned, also championing the bill.

What’s Next?

Rep. Clyde’s bill challenges the expansion of gun control through federal healthcare programs. By focusing Medicaid dollars on their original purpose—vital healthcare—the legislation underscores a broader debate over government overreach and the preservation of constitutional rights.

Supporters see this as a necessary step to safeguard taxpayer money and stop backdoor attempts to infringe on the Second Amendment. Opponents are likely to frame it as a setback for efforts to address “gun violence,” setting the stage for a heated battle in Congress.

This isn’t just a fight over funding—it’s a fight over the proper role of government in addressing public safety while respecting constitutional freedoms.

What are your thoughts? Should Medicaid funds be used for “firearm counseling,” or is this a misuse of taxpayer dollars?

When will the Supreme Court repeal the 1934 NFA Act and the 1968 Gun Control Act. Both Acts are unconstitutional and violate the Second Amendment.

In no way should Medicaid dollars be used for these purposes ,it is almost as criminal as giving social security payouts to undocumented and illegal aliens .lpayed in for 50 yrs and I’ll be damned if I will stand for this kind of radical leftist agenda.

My guns could use some counseling. I am certain several of them are depressed since they have not been used enough lately.

I would have appreciated more specific information about the programs Rep. Clyde intends to block funding for. Very little actual information in this article.

Typical waste of taxpayers money on political agendas instead of delivering Healthcare as the program was supposed to do. Another thing for Elon and Vivek to investigate
