Overview

Barnes Precision has always produced outstanding rifles, you can see them regularly in my videos for GunsAmerica.com. They are pretty much my go-to standard for testing ammunition, and what I use in my training courses. This year, we are seeing some incremental improvements to the company’s legendary BPM handguard, with the addition of M LOK cuts in the sides. This cuts down on the weight and shows one more manufacturer on the M LOK train. I don’t have a personal preference, but M LOK seems to be trouncing KeyMod this year. Score one for Magpul.

New for this year, Barnes has released a 16-inch CQB model in 308. The BPM 308 is a relatively lightweight affair, and the patented muzzle break makes it recoil like a much less manly gun. 16 inches cuts down on some velocity for long range, but if you want to melt someone at CQB range, 7.62x51mm is an excellent choice. Look for a test on this later this year, wearing a 1×8 optic, for the ultimate truck gun. Looking for something a little different in your ARs? How about the Maritime CQB in 5.56? This is a rifle built for harsh environments. The entire upper, lower, and parts kits have been treated with Robar NP3 for exceptional corrosion resistance.
