Hornady is a company founded and operated by hunting and shooting enthusiasts. This closeness to the market allows them to keep their fingers on the pulse of the shooting industry, and better understand what the consumers wants; allowing them to offer many new products at each year at SHOT.
With the continuing trend of increasing suppressor sales, and states allowing suppressor use for hunting, it only made sense for Hornady to offer new subsonic ammunition. The new ammunition includes both rifle and handgun calibers.

My favorite of the new loads, is the 410 grn Sub-X bullet in the 45-70 government, which should prove popular for all the lever actions with threaded barrels. Firing from the closed action these will be very quiet, while delivering serious energy from a bullet designed to expand even at lower velocities. The other new rifle products are for the 30-30 and 450 Bushmaster. The subsonic handgun loads are all heavy XTP bullets for 9mm, 40 S&W and 45ACP.
In addition to those handgun loads, Hornady released a new Handgun Hunter line of ammunition. Each of these loads utilize new copper alloy Monoflex bullets, whose design leverages on the years of GMX and Monoflex rifle bullet experience. The design is advertised to have 95% weight retention and full expansion at handgun velocities, based on my experience with their Monoflex rifle bullets, I would believe it.
Hornady is also almost doubling the number of ATip bullet options available for competition shooting. These aluminum tipped match bullets boast very high ballistic coefficients for outstanding long range, wing bucking performance.
Other SHOT 2020 products include new offerings in 9 other product lines, including the Outfitter and Frontier lines.
Hornady also continued its focus on expanding its line of security items through its Rapid Safes products and its SnapSafe company. The new Rapid Safe Night Guard is a safe for the top of your nightstand that has a digital clock on the front and usb charging ports included with RFID opened spring assisted drawer.
The drawer can be opened by using the Rapid Access RFID fob, a touchpad combination, or a key. The digital touch pad lights up when touching the tempered glass face. The Night Guard is powered by AC adapter and/ or batteries to ensure access.
Other new products that are operated in the same manner are the Ready Vault safe, that can hold 8 rifles and up to 14 handguns, Snap Safe Trunk Vault, and several sizes of Under Bed Safes.
