Earlier this year I competed in a National Rifle League match in my home state of New Mexico. The match lasted two days and was very challenging. The format was a field style match that tested all of the competitors. Aside from the competition, I got to meet some fantastic people and walked away from the event a better marksman.
The National Rifle League will be wrapping up the 2017 Season with the 2017 National Rifle League Championships. The Championship will be held from January 20th – January 21st at Nellis Air Force Base, and will be hosted by Sin City Precision.

NATIONAL RIFLE LEAGUE ANNOUNCES THE 2017 NRL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2017 NRL Championships will be hosted by Sin City Precision in Las Vegas, Nevada!
December 7, 2017 – Santa Ana, CA – The National Rifle League, a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the growth and education of precision rifle shooting through a range of outdoors-related public interest activities, announced today that the 2017 NRL Championships will be hosted by Sin City Precision in Las Vegas, NV.
The 2017 NRL Championships, presented by Caracal USA, will be held on January 20th – January 21st at Nellis Air Force Base. This is the final 2-day national level match of the NRL’s inaugural season, and will consist of the top Competitors, Ladies, Young Guns, and invites from the NRL Board of Directors, as well as 7 top shooters from other Precision Rifle Leagues.
“On behalf of the National Rifle League, I am pleased to be alongside Jared Flanagan in capping off the 2017 NRL season. Representing Sin City Precision in the 2017 NRL Championships, presented by Caracal USA, is an honor for us,” Tyler Frehner, Director of Match Operations, NRL. “The inaugural season has been awesome and exceeded my expectations in many ways. The community of shooters, range officers, and sponsors that have showed their support and created a sense of strong community, has been amazing. It has renewed my passion for the sport and made me realize the humanity of the community around me. The 2017 Championship match makes a huge mark on the precision rifle industry. It signifies that the sport is growing and will continue to. Expansion of the sport has been one of our goals and I feel that it is happening with the NRL firmly at the helm.”
Jared Flanagan will be the co-match director for the 2017 NRL Championships. Jared has had 4+ years of experience in stage designing, range officiating, and competing in precision rifle matches. He says that competitors should expect to be challenged and have a lot of fun. There will be an emphasis on fundamentals such as building solid shooting platforms from various props and targets. Tentative COF appears to be 21 stages, and squading will be in the order of qualifiers.
Competitor invitations for the NRL Championships were sent in November, and qualifying competitors must register by December 19th to reserve a spot, otherwise the next highest qualified shooter will be invited to register.
