Last week, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam said there would be “consequences” for the 90 or so 2A sanctuary counties that refuse to enforce new gun-control laws.

As to what, exactly, those consequences will be, Northam did not say. But at least one fellow Democrat said that the governor could call in the National Guard to ensure compliance.

“And ultimately, I’m not the governor, but the governor may have to nationalize the National Guard to enforce the law,” Virginia Rep. Donald McEachin (4th District) told The Washington Examiner.

“That’s his call, because I don’t know how serious these counties are and how severe the violations of law will be. But that’s obviously an option he has,” he added.

Now, the Virginia National Guard is responding to concerns from citizens about the prospect of armed troops going door-to-door to confiscate their guns.

“We understand and respect the passion people feel for the U.S. Constitution and 2nd Amendment rights. We will not speculate about the possible use of the Virginia National Guard. I encourage everyone to be patient while we allow our elected officials to work through the legislative process,” said Maj. Gen. Timothy P Williams, the Adjutant General of Virginia in a statement.

“We have not received any requests from the Governor, or anyone on his staff, about serving in a law enforcement role related to any proposed legislation.

“I expect our Soldiers, Airmen and members of the Virginia Defense Force to be professional and respectful in their discussions about this subject. As private citizens, our personnel are free to express their opinions to their elected officials, but they should not engage in any political activity while in a uniformed status.

“We will provide regular updates when appropriate during the General Assembly session. Please utilize your chain of command to direct any questions or concerns to my office, and we will do our best to address them,” he concluded.

The Virginia General Assembly will convene in January to vote on at least 8 new gun-control proposals, including a ban on so-called “assault weapons.” Since Democrats have a majority in both the House and the Senate, it is expected that all 8 measures will pass.

Gov. Northam has said that he plans to sign each bill into law. Stay tuned for updates.

Elected officials are sworn to uphold the U.S. Constitution. That would include the 2nd Amendment. So those that support anti-2nd amendment legislation are committing treason. Therefore these are the people who we should be fighting against. The ones who DO NOT support the Constitution. As much as these people (mostly democrats touting gun control ) they are violating the Constitution. So, anyone advocating fees, bans, or any other proposals of civilian gun ownership restriction are enemies of the United States. They are however free to move to someplace that fits their needs better, like North Korea.

  • Rick March 7, 2020, 7:36 am

I too hope the powers now in Virginia ultimately fails in their attempts to take individual citizens guns. And I too have been ready to support the Constitutional rights of Americans in any state.
However if you think you can just go to Virginia or other state when there is a crisis involving Federal or State authority, think again. They will close the state borders. It has happened. Ya gotta plan a massive movement of committed folks willing to fight and die crossing borders of states that have closed them.
Try organizing a large group for that and you can count on the Federal alphabet agencies infiltrating big time and arresting or trying to arrest the organizers. Ya gotta plan carefully.

  • CARL DAUBENSPECK January 1, 2020, 6:57 pm

Well there you have it – a thing called CONSEQUENCES! When you vote stupid you win stupid prizes.

Expect the rest of the free union to support you but don’t get caught up in any self righteousness.

This is YOUR dilemma Virginia so you need to get on the stick and vote these idiot Socialist anti- constitution crap heads OUT!!

  • Phil December 26, 2019, 2:00 pm

I think the dummy meant to say , mobilize not nationalize .

  • TL December 24, 2019, 5:36 pm

I guess Virginia can’t claim they are “for lovers” anymore since they hate the US Constitution and the 2nd Amendment so much.

  • Neal R Miller December 23, 2019, 11:28 am

The first duty of the National Guard is the protect and defend the Constitution of the UNITED STATES.
Gov.Ralph is Michael Bloomberg’s Whippin boy. Both Ralph and Little Mike Are Enemies of the United States.
Gov. Ralph should be impeached. little mike should be charged with treason.

Are you suffering from Democrat Depression ? Turn Republican and make it all better. IT WONT HURT A BIT !

The President might federalized the NG, if the governor attempted to use the NG to seize weapons, in the name of combatting terrorism. The governor’s mansion and state capitol could find themselves surrounded by the NG, weapons pointed inwards. Lincoln charged and arrested the entire Maryland assembly for sedition.

  • Kane December 21, 2019, 10:31 am

Many on the left claim that the “militia” of the 2A is the National Guard and now that supposed “militia” may at some point be used to disarm citizens of the US.

    • Jake December 22, 2019, 12:53 pm

Per usual, many on the left are stupid and uninformed. The National Guard dates from 1895, over 100 years after the adoption of the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Obviously, this was not the militia referred to in the 2nd Amendment.

      • Skyler Bagley December 25, 2019, 1:44 am

I’m Pro 2A but your way off brother…
National Guard was established in 1636.
I don’t like it but the liberal argument of militia is valid. The real debate is on individual and state sovereignty. You might want to read up a little more.

  • Mark - Bristol, IN. December 21, 2019, 9:51 am

Constitutionally the government does NOT get to use OUR military against OUR citizens. Not going to happen. AND my advice to the Virginia dims that attempt such a thing would be to get on a space ship and leave planet earth or go to some foreign country and seek political asylum because if the folks of Virginia don’t get you, there are plenty of folks nationwide that will come visit you and do it for them and do it with extreme prejudice and glee.

    • kane December 21, 2019, 10:36 am

Posse Comitatus including the Navy and USMC.

    • John December 22, 2019, 1:06 am

The Democrats are insane and nothing more than a bunch of tyrants ( noun
a sovereign or other ruler who uses power oppressively or unjustly. ) as they gradually eat away at your rights guaranteed by the Constitution. They see it as having more power to control the population. Given enough time and power, they will destroy what we knew as the USA, and will make decisions that will affect your life and ability to provide for your family. They (Democrats) are guilty by reason of insanity and Speaker Pelosi, who is a perfect example of this, is no longer mentally capable of continuing in office.

    • mike December 22, 2019, 7:46 am

But it has happened before. Military used against citizens in the past. Happened in Washington DC in the 20’s IIRC. Perhaps it was before WW1, sorry, been a while since reading up on it. And yes folks were killed. Not to mention Kent State as well. I dont support the protestors at Kent State but the military should have never been called in. And dont forget the use of Guard units during riots in the 60’s as well.

    • Jux December 22, 2019, 1:12 pm

There is no constitutional provision that prohibits a states governor from utilizing its National Guard to augment local law enforcement. POSSE COMITATUS only applies to Title 10 (Federal Forces)

  • Larry December 21, 2019, 4:40 am

Let me first say, your brothers and sisters here in Kentucky are waiting to see what happens in your state cause this will not stop there, we support you and i know we will be there if this thing goes off. Second, if you think about it, this all goes back to when FEMA, and the “Postal Service”, as well as the IRS, bought over 8 billion rounds of handgun ammo and screwed up the purchasing of our own personal ammo a few years ago, and also why the Dems want open borders, as long as they have a steady stream of illegals coming in and then not upholding our laws like not being allowed to vote but they are, then unless there is some sort of uprising which they are expecting, is the only thing that will fix this issue. They want the illegals voting because we as Conservative(Republican), Americans will VERY soon become the minority and if we arent careful Trump will be the last Republican Presiddnt cause we could never be able to out vote them. We need to fight, FIGHT!! Dont bitch on these sites, or bitch and send memes on FB that will not get anything done. This country heres you, STAND, FIGHT, we will be in this together….

    • Rodger L Burgess December 21, 2019, 10:46 pm

Excellent summary….If the time ever comes, those against our Citizens Rights, Our God and our Constitution, need to really read the history of our country and our states.
WE THE PEOPLE WILL RISE TO THE OCCASION JUST LIKE WE DID AND HAVE, THROUGHOUT HISTORY, and BOW ONLY TO GOD, NOT LUNATIC POLITICIANS, WHICH NEED TO BE REMOVED!

  • Douglas December 21, 2019, 1:38 am

I would hope that if the Governor would issue such an unlawful, unconstitutional order to the national guard, that the Military would arrest him and place him under arrest for treason. ..or will the National Guard comply with an unlawful order? I guess we Will continue to speculate, even though the guard wants it to be a big surprise!

    • interventor December 21, 2019, 3:20 pm

Sedition, not treason! Per the constitution: “Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort.”

    • Doc Loch December 21, 2019, 4:53 pm

I remind everyone who wonders about such things, to REMEMBER what happened in New Orleans following hurricane Katrina. The “national guard” responded by following their illegal and immoral orders. They DID NOT uphold their oaths of office! They DID confiscate legally held firearms. They “jus folled ordas!”

Throughout history soldiers have always “just followed orders.” There has been no incidences in the world that I can think of (please fill me in since my memory is not all that great) where currently serving military personnel disobeyed direct orders on a large scale and refused to do what they had been commanded to do. Individuals, yes, of course, but by an large they have always done what they were told. Prove me wrong!

      • perlhaqr January 25, 2020, 8:36 pm

Well, I certainly can’t *prove* you wrong, although I hope that you are. And perhaps I may be indulging in rampant pollyanna-ism (which would probably be the first time in my whole life), but it seems to me that there may end up being some difference between CA NG members confiscating firearms from folks in LA, and VA NG members confiscating firearms from folks in VA.

I’m certainly not going to *count* on it, but I’m sure going to hope.

    • Jenn December 21, 2019, 6:26 pm

This same Governor who says it’s ok for a mother to kill her baby after it’s born. The Lunatics are running the Asylum! These DemonicRats need to be locked up!

    • Jeffrey Hansen December 22, 2019, 3:40 pm

When you join the military, you take an oath to uphold the constitution of the United States. You don’t take an oath to obey local govt.

  • Bill Pruinski December 21, 2019, 1:36 am

The only reason the govt. wants to dis-arm us is because they obviously have a plan for us. I believe every law abiding American citizen is responsible to arm ourselves and be prepared. If we lose our 2nd amendment rights then we can kiss our constitution and our freedoms good by. The govt. wants to turn our national guard and police forces into hired goons to do their bidding.

    • John December 22, 2019, 1:10 am

      Thomas Jefferson Quote
“For a people who are free, and who mean to remain so, a well organized and armed militia is their best security.”

  • anthony mazziotti December 20, 2019, 9:02 pm

NICE A GOVERNOR WHO WANTS TO USE THE NATIONAL GUARD AGAINST HIS ON STATE. NOW ARE YOU HAPPY ABOUT VOTING DEMOCRAP. THIS WHAT YOU GET. ARE YOU REALLY HAPPY?

  • Dee Leon Oldguy December 20, 2019, 8:54 pm

And don’t forget – any member of the military is reminded that it illegal and punishable under the UCMJ to obey an illegal order. Somehow I think ORDERING the military to confiscate something protected by the US Constitution would be considered illegal. It is, after the ARMY National Guard.

  • Smitty December 20, 2019, 8:45 pm

I was born and raised around military bases in Washington state and I know many Armed Force People and they all own guns that are on the VA ban list will they draw down on their ownfamilies to take their personal “assault” rifles ???

  • Ed Sunderland December 20, 2019, 6:09 pm

The National Guard is being placed in a bad situation but I haven’t heard a solid comforting answer either. We either have a constitution to be held up or not. Virginia and Washington, California and a few others disregard the 2nd even though gun death has been falling for years with the personal ownership of even more guns.
This sin’t about guns it’s about control. Since robbers, thieves, terrorists and murderers use guns in acts of evil the governors think taking away guns and rights of everyday citizens is the answer. It’s actually a poke on the eye of law abiding citizens. A show of absolute power over the unwashed masses. This schmuck and other liberal governors need to be removed through recall and resistance.

  • Leonce LaRouche December 20, 2019, 5:35 pm

I thought the National Guard pledged to respect and uphold the Constitution of the United States, and I remember right so does this sack of shit Governor!

Section 242 of Title 18 makes it a crime for a person acting under color of any law to willfully deprive a person of a right or privilege protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States.
For the purpose of Section 242, acts under “color of law” include acts not only done by federal, state, or local officials within the their lawful authority, but also acts done beyond the bounds of that official’s lawful authority, if the acts are done while the official is purporting to or pretending to act in the performance of his/her official duties. Persons acting under color of law within the meaning of this statute include police officers, prisons guards and other law enforcement officials, as well as judges, care providers in public health facilities, and others who are acting as public officials. It is not necessary that the crime be motivated by animus toward the race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin of the victim.
The offense is punishable by a range of imprisonment up to a life term, or the death penalty, depending upon the circumstances of the crime, and the resulting injury, if any.

  • Wil Scarrow December 20, 2019, 2:27 pm

IMHO, no one can ‘legislate’ away our God given rights.
The Virginia National Guard members have to take the following oath:
“I do hereby acknowledge to have voluntarily enlisted this __ day of ____, 19_, in the ______ National Guard of the State of ______ for a period of __ year(s) under the conditions prescribed by law, unless sooner discharged by proper authority.

“I, ________, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and of the State of ______ against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to them; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the Governor of ______ and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to law and regulations. So help me God.”

The governor also has to say something similar.

I feel any legislation that tampers with our God given rights is, by definition, unconstitutional.

Therefore, any legislation against our rights is null and void.

    🙁

  • Ron Evartt December 20, 2019, 2:21 pm

That’s what you get for electing anti-Constitutional Dem’s!!! They’ll destroy this country!!! “Will Not Be INFRINGED” means nothing to the Dem’s, as well as the facts about gun ownership. Those who control the guns control the people!!!

  • T1zymrgst December 20, 2019, 2:10 pm

IF Virginia governor, Northam, signs laws for gun confiscation from lawful gun owners who have NOT been identified as an imminent threat to others or themselves, he is essentially in violation of the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. Didn’t he take an oath to uphold the laws of both the U.S. Constitution as well as the Virginia Constitution – which includes the right to bear arms under Article I?

IF Gov. Northam demands Virginia citizens to turn in ANY of their lawfully purchased/gifted firearms, and especially to do so without just compensation, then I believe Virginia will truly become at that very moment America’s first very real “battleground” state. Only this battleground won’t be over partisan divides, but We The People patriots who will fight such government efforts to disarm the citizenry. Civil War? Yes. Perhaps it is about time.

This isn’t a partisan issue (Republican vs. Democrats). There are many patriotic Democrats who still believe in and defend our Bill of Rights. Socialists and Globalists in both parties, though loud, and bolstered by an internationalist press no longer working for informing local communities are still a minority, but they are growing more powerful every day. If Americans wish to maintain their freedoms and liberties, we must fight them in the courts, fight them at the ballot box, and hurt their internationalist corporations financially. Meanwhile, GEAR UP, LOAD UP, TRAIN, and PREPARE for the spilled blood that will inevitably come.

  • Samuel Stephens December 20, 2019, 1:43 pm

  • Mike Hockett December 20, 2019, 1:41 pm

There’s a lot of old battlehardend vets out here too with 20 or more years. A lot of those years spent in combat so don’t think it’s going to be a piece of cake to come & get the guns from everyone. These damn politicians might want to think about that too. If shtf they’ll be the first targets. Just saying. Listen to the people. You don’t want to piss off the wrong ones.

    • Douglas December 21, 2019, 1:40 am

Not only just in Virginia, they want to come from everywhere to help. It’s gonna be great!

Amen Douglas, and this would be a show down from the millions of U.S. Deplorables.

WE BOW ONLY TO GOD, NOT ANTI AMERICAN POLITICIANS WHO HAVE NOT READ THEIR HISTORY BOOKS, OUR CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF THE AMERICAS, OR THEIR BIBLES!

  • John December 20, 2019, 1:35 pm

Two old sayings; “History repeats itself” and “Time will tell” and all we can do is wait and see if these are still true when they come to confiscate the American public’s firearms. No words written on paper will ever stop an armed LEO from following their orders. The State National Guard is there for one thing only, follow orders, right or wrong. What happened during Katrina should be clear enough to all but the brain dead.

All this macho talk about the people rising up and making things right again, even a civil war, is just a bunch of weak rhetoric and saber-rattling. History shows clearly that unstoppable tyranny causes guns to go underground and gorilla bands to rise up and practice a hit-and-run campaign to harass the enemy, similar to what the Afghanis did to the Russians before finally overcoming their persecution of a free and sovereign people by a stronger enemy force. Because we’ve waited far too long our foes, foreign and domestic, see this as an opportunity to overwhelm the people and our Constitution. “Give us liberty, or give us death” are still good words to live by.

  • Dennis H. December 20, 2019, 1:24 pm

  • Michael Christensen December 20, 2019, 1:15 pm

I do not know the guard oath of enlistment, but if it is like the regular military oath, you swamear to defend the constitution of the United States of America first before all others. Guess what, the 2nd is part of the Constitution so if they obey their oath they will not partake in this.

    • PATRICK WHITED December 21, 2019, 11:19 am

We swear the same oath as our other counterparts. Just with the governor added in there.

  • redneckcowboy December 20, 2019, 1:08 pm

How many national guardsmen and women are going to fire on their brothers, sisters, parents, cousins, and close friends to violate the oath they took to protect and uphold the Constitution of the United States of America, which the second amendment is part of. With the political climate as it is, without the second amendment there will soon be no Constitution. Think about that, guardsmen and women if you are given an illegal order by the leftist governor of your state. He can not over rule the constitution of the USA, even though he may try given the thinking of the democrat communist party.

    • Richard December 20, 2019, 10:35 pm

If you really believe that “National Guardsmen” won’t do as their told-YOU ARE being delusional. They as well as the rest of us have been placed into slavery to/for the Govt.(both Demorat AND Repugnantcan). Why do you think that Civics is no longer taught in school? They-the Govt. Don’t want people to be aware of their own Constitutional rights,AND more importantly-THEIR GOD GIVEN RIGHTS-The Govt. (ALL OF THEM) ONLY want you to be aware that they(the Govt.) is all powerful-and this goes from your city councilman to your local policemen all the way up and thru ALL of the layers of. the State and Federal government and their associated bureaucracies (including the military). We Americans have sold our precious freedom and Personal sovereignty for some pie in the sky ideas-driven by and invented by-You Guessed It-Govt. Officials……. BUT IT MAY NOT BE TOO LATE…..YET. BUT-shrill cry’s of-from my cold dead hands and 2nd amendment -don’t mean squat. THE ONLY THING THAT TYRANTS UNDERSTAND IS FORCE.STOP TALKING AND START ACTING,BAND TOGETHER BE SMART—THOROUGHLY VET YOUR FRIENDS AND ASSOCIATES-AND IF THEY DON’T PASS MUSTER-THEY ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS-IF YOUR ARE NOT ABLE OR WILLING TO GET LOWDOWN MAD DOG NASTY AND ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY THOSE WHO SEEK TO TAKE AWAY YOUR PERSONAL SOVEREIGNTY,ALONG WITH ALL THOSE WHO JUST STAND IDLE ,YOU ARE JUST RUNNING YOUR MOUTHS. PREPARE/TRAIN/AND THEN ACT.

  • Grant Stevens December 20, 2019, 1:07 pm

Clear and simple. Until the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution is repealed, every law, regulation and court order that infringes upon the unalienable right of American citizens to keep and bear arms is null and void. Those “public servants” who propose, write, support and enforce such laws, regulations and orders are in violation of their oaths to the Constitution and are traitors to the Republic.

  • USVet54 December 20, 2019, 12:52 pm

If not, shouldn’t HE be impeached and removed for obstruction of justice and failure to perform his duties??

  • Otto Lode December 20, 2019, 12:38 pm

Again the dims underestimate what they are up against the Nat Guard is greatly out manned and out gunned by the armed citizens of Virginia I bet by factors of 1000 to 1 I don’t know how many guardsman are in VA nor do I know how many armed citizens live there but I bet if you do the math each guardsman will have to seize 1000 guns w/o being shot before, during or after the operation

  • Mike Wilson December 20, 2019, 12:15 pm

I would like to ( and should be able to ) say The National Guard would never be used to commit Unconstitutional gun confiscation, But, Democrats are pushing for Tyranny, don’t give a crap about our rights ( unless you are an illegal invader ), and already Unconstitutionally confiscated guns during Katrina. The Democrats are pushing The United States ever closer to another civil war.
” Amendment II – A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. ” The 2nd Amendment is pretty clear and is the only Amendment is the only one that says ” Shall Not Be Infringed ” in it. Something The Democrats seem to not understand or follow. Every Red Flag Law and gun restriction on law abiding citizen’s right to keep and bear arms is Unconstitutional.

Folks, Back to the Constitution and yes, posse comatitus.

1/ Trump is fully worthy of impeachment With Conviction and ouster by Senate for 2 articles passed by House. He broke the principles & safeguards of The US Constitution. Before you cuss me, keep reading:

2/ Posse comatitus is the law that will prevent the crazy governor of VA from going off the rail. The population is guaranteed free from unreasonable (= unlawful) searches & seizures). Nothing could be more unlawful. The VA Attorney General or some eminent scholar from the U of VA Law School could certainly explain this to him and knock him off his high horse before he tried to call up the Guard for ANY SUCH DUTY, before he screws up royally.

3/ IF ignoring the law under posse comatitus and Ignoring the Second Amendment are attempted, the Guard Force has every reason to refuse that order. I dont think there will be bloodshed, Most people including most gun owners are not crazy. But there may a mob after the Governor’s ass.
Even though citizens disagree on the extent to which the 2nd Amendment protects the Citizen’s right to bear arms, we should all agree s that posse comititus clearly outlaws the governors proposed action,

4/ If the Governor orders VA Guard units to assist, yes, the President can & should nationalize the Guard. I’m no expert on law or history, but believe that when Little Rock (Arkansas) High School was desegregated about 1957, President Eisenhower Called up the Guard (under Federal control). The sole purpose was to prevent Governor Faubus (sp?) from using the Guard to interfere in any way with the Court Order. Think a unit of 101st Airborne was sent in. Desegregation was accomplished peacefully. Guard control was returned to the State.

I totally agree with Bart. Work the thing out beforehand. Whatever arguments that are presented based on the US Constitution & Amendment, with respect to a State’s National Guard force , Posse Comatitus is a Law that is Crystal Clear and should prevail.

The Posse Comitatus ACT (PCA 18 U.S.C. § 1385) only applies to Federal military forces (Title 10), not National Guard units on state active duty (Title 32). PCA would only apply to national guard units if they were to be federalized, which would change their status from Title 32 to title 10.

    • Kane December 21, 2019, 10:43 am

I believe that the Posse Comitatus Act pertains to the Army and the Air Force specifically but NOT the Navy And Marine Corps.

So do they show up with Nazi armbands? Like when the jews were disarmed? whats next? death camps? History does at times repeat itself so who do we address as mein fuhrer? I can tell you this, the national guard will never confiscate anything nor infringe on constitutional rights. If they did this, it would be concord all over again. I can personally tell you that no national guard soldier would spill one drop of innocent American blood, they live and die to protect this country and it’s constitution. They also swear an oath to protect: (“I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic). An order like this would represent a threat from a domestic enemy as it would be in conflict with the constitution which they (national guard) swear an oath to “protect”. So if an order like this came down, do we prosecute the ordering individual (governor) for treason as a domestic enemy?

Like I’ve said before. The only way these anti-American libtarded gun control measures work, is if the law abiding citizens remain law abiding!! Our dumbass governor and all the ignorant liberals fail to realize this! If you want to turn the heart and soul of the American population into criminals, then so be it? Hey libiots watch what you ask for!! In grand libiot hypocritical fashion, they assume and presume to think that they know what’s best for everyone else!!! Liberals pick and choose what laws they want to obey! Ok NORTHTURD! Enforce our laws and deport illegals immediately!!! Ok NORTHTURD!!! Look how hypocritical you are!!! You support sanctuary cities that allow illegals to hide from our laws!!! So…..Are sanctuary cities only good for liberal agenda?? As ignorant as you are Northam, even you can see the hypocrisy in this!! You cannot expect anyone to follow UNCONSTITUTIONAL LAWS when you yourself do so on a daily basis!!!
THE LIBIOTS OF AMERICA FAIL TO GRASP THE SERIOUSNESS OF WHAT THEY WANT. GUNS ARE SO MUCH MORE THAN WEAPONS OF DESTRUCTION!! GUNS ARE FAMILY HEIRLOOMS!! GUNS ARE AS MUCH A PART OF OUR FAMILIES AS ARE PEOPLE!!! GUNS ARE OUR FRIENDS. You liberals enjoy getting in your cars and driving wherever and whenever you want, every day. You liberals enjoy all aspects of the FREEDOMS that the CONSTITUTION allows us to have. Yet…..Liberals only like certain parts of it. You can’t pick and choose when it comes to laws and freedoms!! Rejecting any part of the CONSTITUTION negates the whole thing. The1st amendment doesn’t work if Liberals suppress everyone else’s thoughts! Facebook and other companies are blocking non-liberal thought as well as forcing liberalism onto our children, every second of every day.
Any new anti-second amendment law or bans will only…..
1- Turn law abiding citizens into criminals!!
2- Create a huge black market!!
    3- Wreck the economy!!
    4- Increase smuggling!!
5- Loss of billions of tax dollars!!
    6- Millions of jobs lost!!
    7- Are unconstitutional!!!!!!!!!!!!
8- Will probably be a catalyst to civil
    disobedience or possibly civil war!!
    9- Prevent people from protecting
    ourselves, family and our
    possessions!!
This list could be endless. WE THE PEOPLE will no longer stand aside and watch liberals RAPE THE CONSTITUTION, RAPE OUR LAWS, RAPE OUR FREEDOMS and RAPE OUR CIVIL RIGHTS!! Let’s pray that this liberal assault on the constitution and the corrupt impeachment of President Trump doesn’t lead to some form of mass violence, death and destruction!

The national guard needs to march on the governors office and take him in to custody.
The state police should have march on the governors office and taken him into custody!
If more than 1/2 of the counties of that state put forth laws preventing the governor from passing a law they do not agree with, the people have spoken and that law is unwanted!
I don’t know the process of removing a governor from office is, but he needs to be removed from office, either by a vote of no confidence, impeached, or out right dragged out of the state capitol by force if necessary!

California should have done the same!

Virginia counties need to make sure to vote in constitutional sheriff’s who will uphold the Constitution against these so called “laws.” And, certainly there has to be something stated in the National Guard’s mission statement that they uphold the Constitution making it impossible to confiscate guns…just saying. I don’t know…did no research, and am shooting off my mouth ’cause I’m pissed about the whole thing.

Respectfully our military today is a serious bad joke and few are capable of anything physically or mentally. Thanks to BHO and crew who literally destroyed it all in spades ! You are living in denial and fantasy on many matters. Beyond those clear facts all of these phony wars are a waste of time money and human endeavors and have NOT built good soldiers at all, just more clones incapable of actually thinking or taking any actions because the lawyers and partisans ran these phony wars.

The truth is these guardsmen would fail miserably for many reasons and many would not follow thru to harm their own families and friends as they should not ! I blame this insane government for allowing people like BHO to do what he has done and it is still entrenched in our military bigly and we must undo it ! I would urge every member of the military NOT to follow such absurd orders that are in fact illegal ! We are NOT obligated to do so. And maybe you will rethink some of your own junk thinking ?

I am an RVN vet from war zone D on the Cambodian border 68/69 and have stayed well trained out ever since as an athlete and warrior. I turned down a DOD job as a contractor to Afghan in 2012 because BHO was in charge and it was a lot of money to be sure. I have worked in other DOD matters as well and done with it all until we see far better leadership, clarity and morality. It is all a very bad joke these days for many reasons. Only a moron sheep in the herd would take up arms against his own people top support a governor like this idiot. He and many others need to be removed and dealt with legally and harshly.

the problem in virginia is simply based on what Dems are doing all over America. they move in illegal and legal immigrants into the state. they know they typically vote left and lean towards liberalism. so essentially they are using virginia and its law abiding citizens as a testing ground for the rest of the country. as far as the National Guard being on their A game it might be true of some but trust me 85% of the guard is on some type of physical profile that would keep them being active. besides it is funny how one little super sonic copper coated piece of well placed lead can really F up somebodies A game and make it a big fat F

  • Clint W. December 20, 2019, 10:04 am

I read this in a Playboy magazine article way back in my Navy days in the early 70’s. It was a story about ‘Oki Dogs’ a hot dog stand in LA run by an Okinawan. He was having trouble with youth and cops were always coming out to quell some disturbance. They finally made him shut his business down before normal closing time, his biz was not the problem, it was folks who hung around the area, and mostly not buying anything from him either. When asked why he would comply with the police order, he pointed to his upper left chest and his right hip, saying, “When you have these, you make any law you want”. Guns were rounded up in New Orleans during and after Katrina by the law knocking on doors in the middle of the night, they already know the best way to pounce on the unsuspecting. If you live and NC, each county sheriff knows who has handguns because you have to go to them to get permission to buy a pistol, guessing they will assume you have a rifle or two also.

    • Rattlerjake December 20, 2019, 12:18 pm

You’re exactly right, especially about NC. NC is worthless considering that the lawful gun owners have NEVER stood up against NCs illegal/unconstitutional gun laws. NC has created laws that have turned many of our rights into “privileges” and the people just lay down and take it! Just like they never questioned how Cooper got elected, considering how NC voted for Trump/Pence, and republican reps in Congress and a republican Lt. gov. — so how did a leftist replace McCrory?

  • Robert December 20, 2019, 10:03 am

The Governor needs to look at the history books! The National Guard’s formation began with citizen soldiers fighting for freedom and independence from a foreign nation trying to impose their will on a free citizenship. Our President Trump is Right. The Democratic Party is now a full blown Socialist party trying to overthrow our government and country. The only way they will be able to achieve their goal is to disarm the Citizenship of the United States.
If You don’t go to the polls and vote for the Republican Party and President Trump you will be opening the Door to further oppression from the Democrats.

I think you guys need to go to Wikipedia and read all the events leading up to the violence at Kent State.
I am not saying that what the National Guard did was right. The students that were shot that day were caught up in a much more serious event than I think they fully understood that day. Only 2 were actual protesters, one was a member of the campus ROTC Battalion and the rest were innocent by-standers. The violent protesters are just as responsible for the deaths of these students as the National Guard and the officials who sent them there. IMHO. It was just a bad deal all the way around. This is what happens when you try to resolve things by force no matter who starts it. God I pray it doesn’t come to it.
I completely understand that we must defend all of our God given rights, but not to ask for divine intervention vs. violence is to not understand the nature of it.

I feel Virginia is going to test the resolve of both sides with lots of court challenges. I live in the enema target zone of S. Texas where the illegal alien and food stamps are King. I vote faithfully but do not feel represented at the State or Federal levels. Thank God Texas is big enough to absorb the dollars being poured in by soros/obama and bloomberg. We have to stop elections being bought. What I dont fully understand is how Virginia came under socialist rule. If 80-90% of their counties can resolve to be 2A sanctuaries, where were they on election day when socialism took away their rights?

    • Rattlerjake December 20, 2019, 12:38 pm

Are you really that pea-brained? First of all, Texas is becoming bluer and bluer every day. All of the major cities in Texas are leftist controlled, and it won’t take long for those cities to rule Texas voting like they do in other states. Secondly, Virginia is ruled by leftist Richmond’s high population of leftist voters, much like NYC rules NY, and Portland rules Oregon, and Seattle rules Washington, etc. Our states’ election systems are NOT in line with what the Constitution established for the federal government, they have no electoral votes by county, which allows one or two heavily leftist populated counties to rule the rest, and that is what is happening in Texas right now. But Texas’ problem is also that Texans conveniently ignore the Constitution when it suits them — case in point is Lyin’ Ted Cruz being a Senator when he canNOT prove his citizenship! Texans fully support Cruz because he is “republican”, yet Cruz completely ignored the Constitution by running for POTUS and claimed to be a Natural Born Citizen (which he isn’t). Texas will be completely blue by 2024 and their 38 electoral votes (by 2024 they may have 40 electoral votes depending on census results) will effectively make it impossible for the US to ever elect anyone but leftists!

    • redneckcowboy December 20, 2019, 1:21 pm

They were out voted by the liberals that have invaded their state from the DC and other liberal government employees that messed up where they came from that they have overwhelmed the native Virginians in an attempt to turn it into the same kind of cesspool they created and moved away from. Liberals are not smart enough to understand that if you screw something up, and then turn around and do the same thing the result will be the same. Stupid is is as stupid does.

I am a Federal licensed collector and my guns are as it states a collection, basically my retirement. I have spent 40 YEARS accumulating them and (I don’t have many) and for someone to come in and take my investment with No compensation is just wrong and unconstitutional. What do I do after… be homeless because I have noting to retire on. Some people have thousands or even millions of dollars invested in their guns and are licensed and most of the time NEVER shoot them, they just look at them as historical, I choose not to shoot mine to retain value. My family is in VA and if this stuff happens I can’t move back home without selling my collection. Crimes happen and police do their best but it is the person that pulls the trigger, the gun can not shoot itself. Sure let’s blame your dog for you training him to kill and giving the order to him/her to kill someone or this person strangles someone we blame his fingers and put a ban on them or let’s ban cars for hit and runs. This is not just guns this is peoples hard earned money that they are messing with and they don’t get it not everyone is a bad person, criminal, and our family’s from long ago came here because they had rights to do things here that they didn’t have in other places and land. The General is telling you that he will follow his orders. And for those that think Guard members would stand down rather than disarm their fellow Virginians or those that think the Governor doesn’t have the authority need to go on YouTube and search “Louisiana Gun Grab”. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the National Guard, State Police, and Parish Sheriff were ordered to seize all firearms in the affected areas. They ALL complied with the order. When those people were most vulnerable to roving bands of looters. the power of the entire state was turned against them. Little old ladies thrown to the floor like a rag when half a dozen troops looked on. Men trying to rescue their hunting firearms from floodwaters stopped in their boat and firearms taken. There are lots of videos out there that deal with this, go see for yourself.

I believe it WILL happen again. Especially since all of this division in our country has taken hold and seems to be growing, morphing into a socialist push to separate us from our constitutionally guaranteed rights. IMHO, It’s just a matter of time. The guarantee of our rights needs to be protected if we’re to retain them. I don’t advocate force, I advocate resistance to their efforts at all costs. “nationalize the National Guard”

That shows the stupidity of the democrats in Virginia. Only the president can “nationalize” the National Guard.

Next the National Guard is forbidden to used as a police force in any state except to establish order in a national emergency. To use them as such is a criminal offense which would lead to the removal of the governor. Besides to protect the constitutional rights of the people of Virginia, Trump would immediately Nationalize the Guard anyway.

  • James L. Riggs December 20, 2019, 8:49 am

Everyone in the U.S. will be watching how this goes. Virginia better think twice, they may have a huge increase in armed citizens from all across America. We all know that if We The People let this happen it will spread across the country. We will not let this happen.

  • Badlandsnative December 20, 2019, 8:36 am

No sense getting all hyped up.. Let the Democrats shoot themselves in the foot. Just more ammo for the 2020 election.. That crap along with the impeachment will just assure 4 more years of Trump so let them blow off steam… and pass laws that will push recalls..

  • Kent December 20, 2019, 8:33 am

Let Virginia be ground zero for Americas 2nd Civil War????

  • Michael Pritt December 20, 2019, 8:30 am

Don’t place your full trust into this General as most of them want their next star. The last Civil War ended at Appomattox Virginia. Be interesting twist of events if the new one started at the same place with the Governor of VA and his entire staff and all officials that signed this infringement of the Constitution hanged at the same place for treason?!? Only then will this threat end. Virginia state motto; “Sic Semper Tyrannis,” “Thus Always to Tyrants.”

  • Richard Poore December 20, 2019, 8:27 am

To call in the national guard to enforce unconstitutional laws would be a clear violation of the National Guards’ oath of service. These laws would circumvent an individual’s right to due process, A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things. When law enforcement officers violate an individual’s constitutional rights under the Fourth Amendment, and a search or seizure is deemed unlawful, any evidence derived from that search or seizure will almost certainly be kept out of any criminal case against the person whose rights were violated.

If these dastardly deeds that the politicians of Virginia seek to persue are some how invoke, another Civil War, based in illegal policies, is sure to follow.

  • Alan108 December 20, 2019, 8:18 am

The general sounds like a real weasel. He should have stated flat out that the guard will not enforce violations of the Constitution.

    • Big Al Robinson December 20, 2019, 11:37 am

I disagree, he was spot on in his comments. I suspect you don’t understand his position. He is NOT allowed to make political commentary, and that is exactly what you’re insinuating he do.

  • Johnny December 20, 2019, 8:08 am

Like my favorite bumper sticker says, you can have my gun when you pry it from my cold dead hand. Don’t tell me I or my sons can go to some God forsaken foreign land and get our asses shot or blown off in so called ‘defense ‘ of this country yet no longer have the right to use the semi auto version of the same weapon. I’m fed up with the whiny bitches male and female who blame the tool and not the user. Mass killings have taken place with knives and bombs as well. How about fighting THOSE people instead of gun owners you bunch of wimps!

    • deanbob December 20, 2019, 9:43 am

In interview after interview, these anti-gunners have demonstrated their absolute lack of knowledge about guns and I suspect most have never even touched one, much less bothered learning ALL of the pertinent facts about them.

  • Mark Daniel December 20, 2019, 8:01 am

see what happens when you don’t vote

    • Eddie December 20, 2019, 9:57 am

Exactly right brother, I couldn’t have said it better myself! The problem is not the anti-american communist governor… the problem is the lazy americans that neglected to vote.

      • Jim December 20, 2019, 12:49 pm

A large problem is mass immigration. 99% of these immigrants vote democrat for amnesty. There are several articles floating around about the population shift of Virginia with an influx of foreign born citizens and how they vote. Eventually there aren’t enough true Americans to win an election in a state.

      • redneckcowboy December 20, 2019, 1:41 pm

Let us not forget the idiots that because of a personal dislike of a candidate that will help the country stay home and don”t vote in “protest”. What are they protesting? Freedom. I would like Trump to be less abrasive, but if he were not an abrasive fighter, the communist leaning, muslim loving party that has for the last three years tried to oust him and install their form of oppressive government would have had their way. I say, God Bless an abrasive fighter if he is on the side of America.

    • Matt December 20, 2019, 3:10 pm

Well Virginia is a suburb of DC.

  • jamie December 20, 2019, 7:41 am

Virginians like their Civil Wars. Can you imagine…National Guard are basically a bunch of college students….going against Virginia Boys from the hills?

Brothers against Sisters…Dads agianst nephews…pretty crazy.

The part I didn’t like about this story is when the General says ‘I expect our service members to be Professional…’ Translation…You cash a military paycheck, then you SHALL point that RIFLE, where we TELL YOU TO!!!

It’s how they control cops, too!!!

    • Bad Penguin December 20, 2019, 8:58 am

Do you really think the National guardsmen would follow such blatantly illegal orders? No they wouldnt.

    • BR549 December 20, 2019, 9:33 am

So far, I haven’t seen any attempts at sedition on the part of the Virginia voters. What we HAVE seen, on the other hand, is the Democrat Party willingly inciting its flock of ignorant followers to help further enslave their population. But as is so typical with the Left, THEY break the laws and promote the coup and then accuse the Conservatives of breaking the very same laws the Left is already breaking.

When the dust settles, Gov. Northam should be dangling from a rope for abuse of power. If the Virginia militias were found instigating an overthrow of government, that would be one thing, although let’s not rule out the Deep State attempting to provide one false flag after another to give Northam the appearance of due diligence, but they are merely demanding their Constitutional rights be recognized.

Since ALL of the mass shootings have sprung from the dysfunctional ranks of the Left, perhaps Northam would be best advised to intern all those liberal supporters that still believe that any one of the prospective candidates in that Leftard dog and pony show they called the debates. I’ll leave Tulsi Gabbard out of that; she’s the only one of them who is rational.

    • deanbob December 20, 2019, 9:47 am

Does being a professional mean one completely ignores the oath they swore to protect and defend the constitution of the USA? Does being a professional mean one leaves their brain (aka ability to think and reason) with their civilian clothes?

    • WhiteFalcon December 20, 2019, 11:09 am

All servicemen and women operate under the Uniform Code of Military Justice are sworn to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America. In the UCMJ it is flatly stated that if your superior gives you an order that violates this, which an order to do that clearly does, that is an illegal order and is to be ignored and reported on up the chain of command. There can be no more clear example of an illegal order than an order to violate the Constitution of our country.

    • redneckcowboy December 20, 2019, 1:49 pm

I am a retired cop. I took an oath to uphold and protect the Constitution of the USA first and foremost. That superseded any city, county, or state law. I was never asked to retract that oath, and would not have if asked to do so. I took that oath before God with my hand on the Bible, and will die honoring if need be, and if there is a cop or soldier, or guardsman that took the same oath as I standing in front of me breaking it he is fair game.

  • jamie December 20, 2019, 7:38 am

Now you know why Democrats ‘like’ when their politicians get caught in blackface. They get to use that Governor, to push ANYTHING they want…it’s social blackmail…and it’s legal 🙁

The Left will turn a blind eye, to their own misgivings, because the Democrat voter, adores people that get caught riding dirty. Hell..there’s even a song named that.

If you want to know how a Democrat’s mind works….listen to Rap Music…brothers be spillin secrets…

  • Eric Holder December 20, 2019, 7:36 am

The National Guard are made up of “people”. It is a job. People do pretty much ANYTHING for money. I really can not remember too many “people” refusing to do what they are told because it violates law and saying to hell with this and a pay check. Oh wait, Edward Snowden bucked the system, the individual who was a man and became a woman…..Manning? Maybe a handful of others who probably will be unpopular here with the “law abiding gun community”. I guess I question if the proper solution is to allow the politicians to continue writing laws that violate the US Constitution and for the peasants to depend on the morals and ethics of the enforcers to not act on those laws because in their heart they know it is wrong?

Would like to write more but I need to ask the heroin and crack dealers on my corner to please stop because it is harming the community where they live also.

  • Capn Stefano December 20, 2019, 7:35 am

Armed Virginians outnumber the 7,000 National Guard in Virginia by a factor of over 100 to 1. Anyone violating the BORs is a legitimate target

  • Chris Burns December 20, 2019, 7:14 am

If the Governor tries to nationalize the NG to enforce laws they will then become federal soldiers and cannot act in a law enforcement capacity in any way due to the Posse Comitatas clause which expressly forbids federal troops from serving in a law enforcement capacity. The Governor will be instituting an illegal act and commuting an act of treason.

The Posse Comitatus Act is a United States federal law (18 U.S.C. § 1385, original at 20 Stat. 152) signed on June 18, 1878, by President Rutherford B. Hayes. The purpose of the act – in concert with the Insurrection Act of 1807 – is to limit the powers of the federal government in using federal military personnel to enforce domestic policies within the United States. It was passed as an amendment to an army appropriation bill following the end of Reconstruction and was updated in 1956 and 1981.

While this act does not forbid NG from acting in a LE duty if ordered by the governor, if he intends to nationalize the troops they would fall under federal pervue.

    • Bad Penguin December 20, 2019, 9:01 am

Only the President can order the Nationalizing of the National Guard.

    • Irish-7 December 20, 2019, 10:57 am

I don’t believe that is correct. A Governor (of any state) can activate the National Guard within his/her jurisdiction. This is considered “State Active Duty” and is funded by the state. The troops are not paid according to their rank. When the President mobilizes the National Guard (as in deployment overseas), it is federal duty. The troops are paid like the Active Army or Air Force, which is HALF of their National Guard (Inactive Duty Training) rate. I’ve been retired for 9 years, so there may have been some changes, or I may not recall everything exactly. However, I was an Active Duty Administrator for multiple Army National Guard units. I handled my soldiers pay, for Inactive Duty Training (weekend NG drills), Active Duty for Training (2 week Annual Training) and State Active Duty (snowstorms, floods & riots).

    • Todd Young December 20, 2019, 11:13 am

Wrong!! National guard troops are NOT federal unless called upon by the President When activated by the Governor they are under State control.

  • Larry December 20, 2019, 7:07 am

THATS A PRETTY CHICKEN SHIT RESPONSE FROM SOMEONE WHO TOOK AN OATH TO DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION OF THE AMERICAS, YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED YOUR NO BETTER THAN THE POLITICIANS BARE ARMS AND BE READY TO MEET GOD AT THE GATE .THERE WILL BE NO FORGIVENESS FOR TRAITORS

  • Bill December 20, 2019, 7:03 am

This is what happens folks, when you elect Democrats. This is the result. Your freedoms as guaranteed by the Constitution will be taken away. Forcefully if they deem it necessary. So if you insist on voting Democratic, remember the old saying, “Watch what you wish for, because you just might get it.”

  • Joan December 20, 2019, 6:53 am

The National Guard shouldn’t even be called in..the President has to give those orders and hes not going to..the governor has no authority to call them in

    • Simon Remwald December 20, 2019, 7:28 am

Actually the governor can. As guardsman, the commander in Chief is the governor of that state. The President can federally call them up, but that changes the status of guardsman from title 32 to title 10 status. The guard and military also do not have law enforcement powers and can only assist law enforcement, they have no arresting power at all.

    • bill lockerby December 20, 2019, 7:54 am

the governers of each state can activate the nat. gd. of their state. they don’t get very much pay. only the president can ‘nationalize’ the guard then they get regular pay. if the gov. activates them they can only serve in their state. nationalize they will serve anywhere. worry here is like during Katrina they brought in LE and natGd from localities not around New Orleans so there was noconnection with the citizens they were going door to door confiscating firearms.. don’t know if Vir. passed a guarentee against confiscation in an emergency like a lot of states did after Katrina

    • Richard C Dorsey December 20, 2019, 7:54 am

No, unless called up to federal service the national guard answers to the governor. Only when called to a national defense role do they answer to the president. Trump could (and should) activate the Virginia guard federally to prevent the governor from being able to use them.

    • Braveheart December 20, 2019, 8:09 am

Not true. The Governor of each state has the authority over the National Guard for his state. The president can request them for overseas use or outside the state. Each state’s National Guardsmen are the militia for that state EVEN in defense of the federal government.

    • shrugger December 20, 2019, 8:19 am

Actually, Governors are the only ones with the authority to call up the National Guard.

The first thing the VA NG Commander should do if called up for confiscation is arrest
the politician responsible that called up the VA NG for such an unconstitutional purpose.

    • Tom December 20, 2019, 8:20 am

Only in a state of emergency can the national guard be called in. Not enforcing laws.

    • Wilko December 20, 2019, 8:22 am

I’m sorry, but a state’s governor does have the authority to activate units of that state’s National Guard.
However, there are legal restrictions on their use to enforce civil law.

    • Blasted cap December 20, 2019, 8:30 am

Might want to look into how the National Guard works and their Command structure.

    • Elapid King December 20, 2019, 8:53 am

To the contrary, the National Guard is absolutely answerable to the Governor of their respective states.
I don’t know where you got the idea that the President controls National Guard assets, however, you are woefully misinformed.

  • TRUMPFORCEONE December 20, 2019, 6:46 am

The Maj. Gen. Should have said we will not infringe on the Constitution period! Not let’s wait and see what happens!

    • Damon December 20, 2019, 9:13 am

24yr retired combat veteran here. This General is never going to say anything pro-2A. Most Generals that I know are very anti-gun.
Nowadays, with very few exceptions, they are mostly a group of risk-adverse, military-politician, yes-men who are completely out of touch with real people. They have made a career out of not taking risks, hiding and covering up any flaws in their units, and exaggerating their accomplishments. Todays officer cadre has been sculpted by the Obama administration and a leftist education system (yes, even at the Military Academies) that teaches our youth and young officers that America may be very flawed, but the American people are absolutely horribly ignorant trash.
So IMHO, 80% of the officers in DoD are leftists, whereas 70% of enlisted are conservative.
The good news is that my friends here in Virginia that are actually in the Virginia National Guard have assured me that they will refuse the obvious unlawful order, if the Governor gave it, as it would violate the oath that they swore before God.

  • Tom Rhoads December 20, 2019, 6:46 am

Troops where not allowed to cross the Rubicon as it was seen as a threat to the Republics freedoms Julius Caesar’s crossing the Rubicon river in January 49 BC precipitated the Roman Civil War, which ultimately led to Caesar becoming dictator and the rise of the imperial era of Rome. Caesar had been appointed to a governorship over a region that ranged from southern Gaul to Illyricum (but not Italy).
Will the National Guard cross the Rubicon and start civil unrest in Virginia. Will they Crown Governor Northam Caesar ? Are they willing to die for his self aggrandizement?

  • NonyaB December 20, 2019, 5:57 am

Seems to me that if 90 counties passed measures to support the 2nd amendment and declare it a sanctuary that even under mob rule the legislative body would be violating the will of the majority, as there are only 95 counties in Virginia. So the legislation no longer has to honor their oaths under the constitution, and they no longer have to abide by the concept of majority rule, then isnt is safe to say they are rogue acting unlawfully and the federal govt should be calling in the military to shut down any invasion on the state by any unlawful standing army that would participate in destroying the union?

    • Hillary lost, get over it December 20, 2019, 7:55 am

If 90 out of 95 counties do not want their 2nd amendment rights taken from them, I want to know how are the dems in charge of all 3 branches of state government?

      • Tom December 20, 2019, 8:26 am

Because the large populated cities have more voters/votes than the less populous rural counties.

      • Kenneth Arnold December 20, 2019, 10:25 am

Now THAT is an excellent question. How DID the left come to power? Did the conservatives stay home? Did they “protest” vote? William F. Buckley Jr. said to “vote for the most conservative candidate running who has a chance to win.” That is solid advice. If the incumbent “conservative” is not conservative enough then REPLACE him with someone who IS conservative. In any case the “right” MUST stick together. The only way we lose is through fracturing our base.

      • John Rogers December 20, 2019, 10:56 am

There are large population areas in Virginia, that are independent cities and not part of any county.

    • Hardtimez December 20, 2019, 8:46 am

Elections have consequences. Get out and vote!!

    • LABillyboy December 20, 2019, 1:27 pm

States need some kind of Electoral college to return power to rural residents of less populated areas. More common sense resides there than all the urban jungles combined. Let the urbanites have some seats but never let them gain a majority based on sardine packed tenements, mentally ill and drug ravaged voters bused to the polls by Democrats and of course the new favorite of the Communists, Illegal immigrants.

  • Dan M. December 20, 2019, 5:54 am

I would suspect that the members of the National Guard are mostly part of these sanctuary counties and would not even appear to regulate.

  • Michael Enders December 20, 2019, 5:47 am

No governor can “nationalize” the National Guard. To nationalize it is to called it into the service of the federal government. The federal Posse Comitatus Act forbids the military from being used to enforce domestic laws. I am not sure exactly how that applies to a state’s National Guard units while under a governor’s command, but I am sure that what the Virginia governor proposes to do will face a challenge in federal court.

    • bill lockerby December 20, 2019, 7:56 am

it WOULD violate posse comatatus. ran into that here on the mex/us border when the guard was called up. they can only provide support units

    • Elapid King December 20, 2019, 9:03 am

The national Guard has in at least 12 instances been called upon the Federal Government for the purpose of domestic law enforcement, as well as innumerable times that National Guard units have been activated by state Governors for law enforcement purposes.
Posse Comitatus, despite popular belief, doesn’t prohibit the use of military assets in domestic law enforcement but rather limits how they are used in such a role.

  • JORGE GARCIA December 20, 2019, 5:39 am

This is a sad time in our history, I truly believe we are at the beginning of many consequential encounters between diehard patriots and the new generation of morons that have evolved, the impeachment of our president is only the beginning, These so called democrats are nothing more than the strong arm of the money machine that is slowly but surely taking over this land. If you don’t believe this is all about total control, you need to look at the cold hard facts, we will be Soros trolls when this is all over, and we will work for peanuts. God help us all! and enjoy your dollar store brooms.

  • Josiah stephenson December 20, 2019, 5:38 am

I am 80 years old and one thing I learned in the military is that you must always refuse and unlawful order. Next out duty was to the constitution, etc. I also will try to find a niche for an old veteran and know that even at my advanced age, i can look, and i can observe, and i can listen and pass information along. i can use a talky-talky, and drive a truck with supplies, and a good deal of many other things even though i can live on the battle front any more. I will look for a place. My country is not a place for marxists to rule. I refuse to live under a marxist ruler. I know i am supposed to capitalize the m in marxist, but I refuse to do that or give any credence to it. Old old patriot.

    • Michael December 20, 2019, 10:24 am

My friend – you are never too old, too young, or too weak to help the cause. Every one of us who have served our community and/or our state or Nation while in an official capacity As an elected official, an LEO, or soldier/Marine/airman or sailor has sworn to “protect and defend” our Constitution from enemies, both foreign and domestic. We can all “serve” in some aspect in thwarting unconstitutional activities of any unconstitutional and traitorous “govern”ment body. Resistance fighters in the past have disrupted communication lines such as telephone lines and now could do that with fiber optic cables and satellite disks, removed street and road signs, disabled government vehicles in place or on the road (punctured tires, cut brake lines and cooling system hoses, punctured radiators, and so on), observed and reported to resistance leaders the activities and troop movements of unlawful government traitors/troops, blocked roads, contaminated or destroyed in place government water/food/fuel reserves and other supplies and storage areas, and when the resistance won, those who had cooperated with the corrupt, unconstitutional “govern”ment agents were dealt with accordingly. Maybe take the advice of Mad Maxine Waters – harass these un-American traitors wherever you find them, on their home streets, at the grocery store, in Walmart, at their favorite restaurants, and so on. Be creative, intrusive, and persistent. Age shouldn’t stop the resistors from their goal.

    • Kenneth Arnold December 20, 2019, 10:29 am

Amen! Thank you, Sir, for your service and your continued service.

  • Gus December 20, 2019, 5:23 am

If they try to send in the National Guard for Illegal gun confiscations, THERE WILL BE A CIVIL WAR, and the first time hometown soldiers are asked to fire on their own towns, friends, relatives, neighbors, what do you think they will do? If anything like this happens, the politicians responsible should be held for treason against the people of the United States of America.

    • Patriot December 20, 2019, 9:20 am

Not “should”, WILL. It is far past the time these traitors need to be held fully accountable for their treasonous actions. And I strongly suspect they will be finally. FULLY. I love the Constitution but I live by the Declaration of Independence. It tells Americans what their true duty to this nation is, just as it did my forefathers who directly fought for our freedoms.

  • Pete December 20, 2019, 5:20 am

    • Matt December 20, 2019, 7:49 am

  • SuperG December 17, 2019, 10:25 am

It is the beginning of the end if armed soldiers allowed themselves to be used as pawns, and enforce civilian law on the streets of America. Gen. Williams was appointed during the Obama era, so I’m skeptical if he’ll protect the Constitution.

    • TK Anderson December 20, 2019, 6:09 am

It was over some time ago with California leading the way. We have surrendered or guaranteed rights to government granted privledges and we are subjects of compliance or else. We have failed in our duty to protect the Constitution from the progressive social enemy that is legislating the Constitution into a socialized union. We have allowed our government to reverse the rules of fear by enacting laws that will take our freedom away via: imprisonment. The government no longer fears the people, the people fear the government. Get used to it.

Virginia National Guard personnel swear an Oath: FIRST ITEM is the Constitution of the United States of America. The State of Virginia Constitution and the Governor follow in priority. Guard like the Regular Military have a DUTY to refuse UNLAWFUL Orders.

It seem pretty simple to me what will and will not happen.

    • Tom H December 16, 2019, 9:55 pm

      AMEN TO THAT!

    • bart December 18, 2019, 7:05 pm

right, so what happens when laws are passed, they aren’t obeyed, and the governor orders the NG to assist in their enforcement? how is any of that unlawful?

better work this thing out beforehand.

      • Randy D December 20, 2019, 4:54 am

Lets start with the US Constitution – Second Amendment – “the right of the people to keep and bear arms, SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED”. No gray area there. It is very clear. What part of SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED do you not UNDERSTAND?

      • Mark the 2nd December 20, 2019, 4:56 am

ANY anti gun laws are unconstitutional, both as regarding the Constitution of the United States and the Virginia state Constitution. The National Guard is sworn to uphold the Constitution which would make using the National Guard to enforce any communist inspired anti gun “laws” not only unconstitutional but also illegal at both the federal and the state level. It would be the duty of the Guard to refuse to enforce any “laws” by the communist left. If they choose to enforce said anti constitutional illegal “laws”, the war will be on. There’s your answer.

      • Na December 20, 2019, 5:59 am

Its unlawful because its under color of law.

      • Bradley Stewart December 20, 2019, 6:01 am

I am ready to protect the 2 amendment at any cost and so should the NG! War is coming and the law abiding citizens Will stand up! So these Democrats had better rethink this!

      • Tarheel Realist December 20, 2019, 7:09 am

State Laws are a derivative of Federal Law which is forged vis a vis the US Constitution. When stand-offs like this (VA) Bill occur, SCOTUS are the final arbiters.

      • Andrew Ling December 20, 2019, 7:14 am

What’s going to happen is that the law abiding, gun owning, US Constitution fearing people of Virginia will be ready for the tyrannically mandated State of VA constitutional law(by Democrats, for the Democrats?) enforcement bullied upon the people who volunteered to uphold the US Constitution. The end result will be pretty clear. We will pay for our freedoms with whatever resources we have. We are no different today than as it was when the Colonies declared independence from the rule of the Brits with the meager(?) resources they had and prevailed, only today, it’s totally emotional and lazy bunch of Bloomberg funded politicians headed by Northam. We will never back down. Not a chance for that! Long live the US Constitution, the free Virginians! Long live the free, great USA!

      • CountryLogic December 20, 2019, 7:19 am

An unconstitutional law is and always will be a unconstitutional law. Orders based on an unconstitutional law are unlawful. I don’t see any other outcome. They either refuse to obey a unlawful command based on an unconstitutional law or they don’t. If they refuse to obey the unconstitutional law then good for them. If they attempt to enforce an unconstitutional law then its going to get bloody.

      • tim December 20, 2019, 8:10 am

Because the U.S. Constitution is the law of the land preempting all others despite what these idiots pass.

    • Robert Allen December 20, 2019, 3:11 am

Um possee comitadas. Anyone remember that phrase. If that takes place. And actual troops are used against citizens. We will be in a state of war. It’ll be very ugly for, those troops. I mean civilian gun ownership in America is the main reason why we dont all speak Russian. Id see that not being received well by any American.

      • Nemo December 20, 2019, 8:21 am

Posse Comitatus Act was neutered a long time ago when Reagan authorized the military to engage in anti-drug operations. We saw the results of that with the gun grabs in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

The Act does not prevent the Army National Guard or the Air National Guard under state authority from acting in a law enforcement capacity within its home state or in an adjacent state if invited by that state’s governor.

That slippery slope was greased long ago (all supposedly to keep the kiddies safe from drugs) and just as the critics of that move said it would, it has paved the way for the military to try to act like police. Those Virginia Guardsmen will be given Constitutionally illegal orders, just as they were in NOLA, count on it.

Liberals (like their predecessors, the Bolsheviks) being the cowards that they are, lack the intestinal fortitude to risk their own arses in bringing about their vision of Utopia; they always get the ones with the guns to do it for them, and take that risk. It’ll be too tempting for the Dems to not try it.

        • Eric Holder December 20, 2019, 6:57 pm

Agree 100 percent, and the Posse Comitatus as you said is BS baloney today. All the domestic terrorist crapolla that the media and Feds push. It did not help the people murdered fleeing the fire at WACO.

    • John Bicknell December 20, 2019, 3:14 am

Only if they are ready to start the next civil war.

    • Tiny Terrence December 20, 2019, 5:19 am

Go back centuries ago when the laws of man were thought of as superior to the laws of God. As well as through the ages, the laws of God must always reign supreme. To think otherwise means you believe man to be superior to God. Isn’t that why the USA was

    • ron December 20, 2019, 6:52 am

But people with authority and guns have been known to violate their oath.

Nothing has shown that more than the last several years in this country.

      • Eric Holder December 20, 2019, 9:24 am

        Boy are you RIGHT.
