In an interview with Glamour Magazine, singer Kesha sounded off on the “epidemic” of gun violence in America.
As with most Hollywood elites, celebrities, and musicians, the 29-year-old pop star had nothing intelligent to say on the matter and instead spouted the same ole, same ole pabulum we’re used to hearing from those too intellectually lazy to actually research gun ownership in the U.S. beyond the script they’re handed from gun-control organizations.
Here’s what she had to say (feel free to tell me if my assessment of her comments are unfair):
GLAMOUR: You were at the DNC in July performing at Gabby Giffords’ Americans for Responsible Solutions PAC event. When and how did you first connect with the issue of gun violence?
KESHA: Unfortunately, growing up in America, it’s all too common to hear about people getting shot on an everyday basis. It breaks my heart and makes me sick every time I hear of innocent people being killed by guns. Gun violence is an epidemic in America. We cannot ignore all of the mass shootings and lives lost due to the lack of gun control. People keep throwing their hands up in defeat about this issue, but that’s not an option anymore—we need change immediately.
And we should not divide ourselves by politics on this issue; it affects everyone. It’s our collective safety—it’s our family members going to school or a club or even just the movies and coming home safe. I understand that the right to own a gun is a constitutional issue, but our first right as humans is to live. By not putting some sort of boundaries on gun ownership, the right to simply live is taken away from some people for no reason. Why does a hunter need an assault rifle? And if anyone can buy an assault rifle, why can’t we all buy rocket-propelled grenade launchers? Where is this line exactly?
You can’t predict when someone’s anger or resentment will become so deep that they want to kill another person, but you can monitor who has access to guns, and what kind of gun they have access to. I love how free our country is and believe that love and empathy can heal divisions, but if our politicians—regardless of political party—cannot do something to reduce the frequent mass shootings and daily violence, they are not doing their job. We can’t just keep turning a blind eye. I believe in keeping America as free as anyone else, but as a fellow human being we need to open this discussion up for real change. We have to do something to keep ourselves, our families, and all our brothers and sisters safe—we are all in this together.
I’m not going to go sentence by sentence and deconstruct all the ignorant comments Kesha made (e.g. her implication that the 2A was codified by our founders and framers to protect hunting), but what I will address is her statement about the “first right of humans is to live,” which is obviously mentioned in the Declaration of Independence, as one of our “unalienable rights,” you know the line about, “Life, Liberty, Pursuit of Happiness.”
Our right to life is also protected by our Constitution which prevents the government from snuffing us out without due process. In other words, Uncle Sam can’t just kill us willy-nilly. We have a right to an attorney, a trial with an impartial jury before the government can pull the plug (unless of course you’re a U.S. citizen living in a foreign country and the government suspects that you are a terrorist, then it can murder you with a drone strike and chalk it up to a desperate-times-call-for-desperate-measures loophole. Is it Constitutional? Hell no! But somehow we let the government get away with it. I digress).
Anyways, what I want to say to Kesha is that we do have a right to live. For millions of Americans, our right to life is protected not by an inept government apparatus (FBI, CIA, DHS) that typically can’t tell its elbow from its a-hole (or, for that matter, prosecute a high-ranking official who clearly and deliberately mishandled classified material and then lied about it), but by our choice to exercise our right to keep and bear arms.
Think about it this way, Kesha. When you’re on tour, performing a concert, do you have armed security? I bet you do (but even if you don’t, wouldn’t it make sense to have armed security?). After all, if a rabid stalker with a knife or a gun or a crowbar came after you wouldn’t you want one of your guards to have the capacity to stop that individual dead in his tracks before he harmed you or someone you cared about?
Well, it’s no different for gun owners. A majority of us own firearms because we want to protect our families from whatever threat that may come our way in this crazy world we live in: a mass killer, a stalker, a serial rapist. And for many of us — to address your point about assault rifles — we choose to purchase an AR-15 (not technically an assault rifle, as it’s a semiautomatic platform, not a fully automatic one), because it’s one of the optimal tools for the job of home defense. It’s not any more complicated than that. We own guns because we want to protect ourselves, our families and our property.
By suggesting that lawmakers ought to restrict our Second Amendment rights is tantamount to saying that you ought to disarm your security detail. How does disarming them make you any safer? It doesn’t, of course. It only makes it easier for that deranged stalker to get to you and cause you bodily harm. And really, that’s what gun control does. It impairs the ability of law-abiding citizens to defend themselves, thus creating more defenseless victims.
Let’s unpack this idea a little further. You say, “we have to do something to keep ourselves, our families, and all our brothers and sisters safe—we are all in this together,” and I totally agree. We do. But what? What is the best solution for the threats we face? More laws restricting gun ownership? Don’t think so, for the aforementioned reason.
Believe it or not, the best solution for the average Joe (who can’t afford a security detail, BTW) is for him or her to purchase a firearm if he/she is willing and able. Why? Because it levels the playing field. It ensures that we won’t be hapless victims. It gives us the ability to fight back to preserve our right to life. Otherwise, we’re sitting ducks. Lambs to the slaughter.
Now, you also say this, “You can’t predict when someone’s anger or resentment will become so deep that they want to kill another person.” That’s true, you can’t predict who is going to do what, when. And since we can’t predict the future and since police are not omnipresent, what other choice do we have then to arm ourselves and to prepare for the worst (while hoping for the best)? There is a reason why the following is sage advice: If you want peace, prepare for war.
You go on to say that we should monitor all gun owners, but even if we did, the government can’t be everywhere at once. And aside from the obvious concerns about extraconstitutional surveillance that monitoring raises, what you fail to grasp is this underlying truth: violence is inevitable. It doesn’t matter what laws are on the books. Bad people will continue to do bad things to good people. Ergo, good people must have a way to fight back. Our founders and framers understood this concept quite well (along with the notion that governments have a tendency to bend toward tyranny over time). It’s why they put the 2A in our Constitution.
Quite simply put, our right to life is utterly contingent upon our untrammeled right to defend ourselves. When you place limits on the latter you indubitably imperil the former.
If she is asking, then she does not understand the gun market. Let me ask why does she need glitter and paint all over her body to sing a song? Maybe the song is no good and she needs a diversion to take people away from actually understanding the song.
Songs not so great eh?
The AR-15 has been around since 1959, it’s really a fine rifle, well suited to some hunting situations and you can configure it any way you like, the only limits are how fat your checkbook is. The number of cartridges you can put in a magazine is a none issue, yes you can buy 30 round ones, you can also buy 10 round ones and 5 round ones if you so choose. It makes no real difference, thou it makes it easier to shoot from the prone position with the 10 round box. But you would not know that, Gee if you lived in Texas, you would have one just because and you would also never have to buy a pork chop from the store ever again too. So till you manage to get the Bill of Rights amended, you need both houses to approve and 2/3 of the States to ratify, till then you just have to suck it up buttercup, we are keeping our guns!
So, if this girl’s opinion(which i do not agree with on many levels) is so wrong, out of touch and ignorant- why did the author include 3 links to her videos? None would suffice. And how nice my fellow weapons owners can be. Sounds like we need guns to protect us from us-just saying. I’m not defending her or her videos-i don’t care for the content or message they/she promote, but how vicious we can be when peeps don’t think our way. Myself included.
I’d do her . Aside from that , who died and gave her the right to decide what I can and can’t have ? She needs to get laid more often . All that pent up frustration .
Typical liberal wigger . Why do I need an assault weapon to hunt ? I don’t . I own them just to piss you off …. You and the rest of your kind going to leave America if Trump wins ? Or is that just another liberal lie ? It’s time to take out the trash . You need to leave . Your singing sucks anyway .. 😉👋🏻
It really is time for a cultural cleansing of Liberals in the United States.
Why does a pop star need a multi million dollar home and a 100 thousand plus dollar car? does that answer your question???
Another moron with a big microphone, spouting nonsense . The sad part is that, since the 1960’s or so, the public schools teach very little about our history, our government, about the English language, math, economics, science or logic (which might indicate to some that they should know something about a subject before lecturing others on its benefits or disadvantages). Obviously some kids come out of public schools with a good education, but many, probably most that suffer through the taxpayer funded propaganda mills, come out barely functional. This girl found her talent and made lots of money but obviously is either not educated or aware of the topic about which she speaks, or else has taken a hint from Hillary and lies to push her agenda. Either way, the thought that some may believe her is a rather sad situation.
Man, this is almost too easy. Picking apart the inane beliefs of pop stars and other Hollyweird degenerates is like seal clubbing!
OOH I LIKE SEAL CLUBBING!!!
Hear about the baby seal that went into a bar and ordered a Canadian Club?
This article plainly illustrates just how out of touch with reality many young people are.
Add to that a “stage” from which many with resources and a personal agenda can have their
own “Bully Pulpit”, it gives way to the national attention these and other so-called “celebrities” get their message out.
As a Military Service Veteran of the “Cold War” time period, it is plain to those of use that, people can be, and often are,
a predatory species. When given the mind and purpose to hurt others, they can and have been vicious in their determination to accomplish those goals.
Also, as a retired Law Enforcement Officer of over 30+ years experience, it is plain to see that people will and have used whatever mechanism is available to them to accomplish these goals. THIS MEANS, that if firearms were removed, other substances or tools would and have been used. THIS ALSO MEANS, that removing a tool of protection from EVERYONE, just creates more potential victims for those predators.
Unfortunately, many young people, and an amount of mature folks either will not, or simply DO NOT understand how social predators function. We, as Soldiers and Law Enforcement Professionals, understand these things and can only advise people that evil will never be vanquished. If someone wishes to do harm to others, they WILL find a way to do so. WE MUST stay alert and have the protections we have been granted by The Founders in the form of our 2nd Amendment. It is the Amendment that keeps the system of checks and balances in place, and also protects us from the Tyranny of Government.
It MUST SURVIVE, and so must we all… Minds and hearts need to change, NOT our God Given Right to protect who and what we love…
Pretty sure she is the one who couch auditioned for her producer – and then cried rape when she wanted out of her contract… Could be wrong, might have been Matt Damon or Liam Neeson. Ah well, same difference.
People ask why do you need a weapon that shoots 100 rounds. Why do people buy cars that go 100mph when the speed limit is 70 mph. BECAUSE ITS FUN……..
Please don’t give our enemies a podium.
Why bother responding. Waste of time.
And yet you responded.
Who’s this asshole? Why does ANY celebrity get air time? DILLIGAF what this brainless twit has to say?
You misspelled “twat”
NO kesha, democrap libtardism and stupidity are an epidemic in our Country!
She should keep her brainless comments to herself. When she like all others who don’t like guns stop using ARMED GUARDS TO PROTECT THEMSELVES, maybe, maybe i might listen to her.
Apparently, Kesha is as stupid as the day is long. Kesha, darling, hunters DON’T need assault weapons. Maybe your knowledge of this subject is so limited that you should’ve kept your mouth shut. The 2nd Amendment is NOT about hunting. It IS about self defense, defense of family, defense of nation, and as George Washington said so eloquently, when the government ceases to represent the people and become oppressive, it is the duty of the people to change the government-by force, if necessary. At any rate, what YOU term “assault weapons”, are not real assault weapons. Those have a fully automatic fire control, which the shooter can change from semi-auto to full auto by turning a control lever. This feature makes them machine guns, which are extremely regulated, are very expensive, and use up lots opt ammunition, which is also very expensive. The ones YOU are referring to are semi-auto only civilian-legal look-alikes which have been on the civilian market for more than 100 years. They are used in very few crimes – handguns being the most used. Before you make a fool of yourself yet again, please learn about what you’re talking about.
Your stupidity and ignorance showed when you opened your mouth about something you know nothing about, and could probably care less and never take the time to learn. May I suggest you stick to convincing the stupid that you actually have a talent, and stay away from mans God given rights backed up by the constitution of the United States, Perhaps if you payed more attention to that which really matters in life, then being a fool or stuck in the material world you dumb ass you would understand why not only God gives man the right to defend himself and his loved ones and the 2nd amendment backs it up ,you would not have opened your mouth about weapons. Stick to putting strange objects in it, your better off.
god given rights? No such thing! Man is an destructive, greedy animal who is inherently EVIL .That\’s why we need guns.
Bones – thank you. I get so tired of hearing about “god-given rights.” We have our rights because brave men & women fought & died to preserve them – not some imaginary “man in the sky.”
Typical elitist blather from behind as you say armed security or a walled off Hollywood mansion.
Sweet girl most of don’t have that sort of protection. We will protect ourselves or even your ilk when threatened by real criminals.
We have not yet begun to see the dangers looming outside our doors from radical Islam, racist hordes and sadly our own government, ask Lavoy Finicum how he feels about his right to life, wait no he was murdered by those sworn to protect us.
Tell her to talk to Kelly McGillis.
Good point Mark! Or tell her, to spend a weekend, unarmed, in south Chicago.
The City with the most restrictive gun laws in the country and is now considered a “war zone” with more gun violence than any other city in our country. I really wish they would check the facts before statements are made that make them look bad or uneducated. She probably feels the same as Hilary that I’m in the 50% of trump supporters!!!!! I just hope everyone votes in November. We have the supreme court and several other courts that will get appointed during the next election. People that are against every free dome we hold dear running every ruined or failed city want to take our rights and make us sheep to be run from Washington. If we allow this to happen we will never recognize the united states as we know it today it will be radically changed and fundamentally different for two decades before we might possibly get our rights back. So please “Run you mouths”, say the truths about whats at stake. But for our countries sake get everyone you know and care about to get out and “Vote” for this is the most important election of our lives!!!
So true. Chiraq, Baltistan, the People’s Republic of Kalifornia, the United Stupidity of Neu York and Neu Jerzy, Unhappyland (fka Maryland), Unconnecticut, the Land of Corruption (fka Illinois), etc. are all ruled by the Ditzycrats (aka Democrats, which is an oxymoron) that believe Hitler, Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, and other dictators were/are on the right track by disarming the people. What is their underlying agenda: a police state or a false nirvana were the criminals are the victims? Our Founding Fathers put the Second Amendment in our Constitution to prevent tyrants like them from gaining too much power (e.g., the autocratic English that they just ejected from the nascent United States). In the Ditzycrats’ world, Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Madison, and Franklin would be terrorists to be rounded up by the US Alphabet Agencies (if they could decide who has jurisdiction). I hold a doctorate, am not “anti” anyone, except those who want to hurt innocent people, a US Veteran who believes that I have never been released from my oath to protect the Constitution from all enemies, both foreign and domestic, and do not like either candidate. However, Hillary and the Ditzycrats would destroy this country, so I will vote for the lesser of two evils.
… I got to wonder if these liberal whiners would change there tune if ISIS were to show up in their neighborhood raping women, cutting off heads & burning people to death that refuse to join them…???
Will be hilarious the day that happens..
Hilarious? Really? Wow. U forgot to post ur address.
Really?
Just another self-indulged blovulator too busy thinking about her next mansion, BMW, or Mercedes and too lazy to do any intelligent research or think for themselves. Yawn. Same ole schit.
Kesha,
Sing, try to look pretty, act sultry, but stay outta my life. There’s gonna come the day when you’re gonna wish your man had one of those Evil black rifles to save your skinny ass, but by then it’ll be too late. So just keep on doin’ what you do best and pay no attention to the writing on the wall.
She should look in her own back yard and spout off about the thousands killed by illegal drugs which are glorified in their porno filled lifestyle.
After “Fast and Furious” I now hunt with an assault type rifle here in southern Arizona.
Way to go Bro! I hunt deer in Michigan with an MSR (aka AR-15 clone) in 6.5 Grendel using a state mandated 5-round magazine, which the round limitation applies to any rifle or shotgun, so you’re not alone in your endeavor to prove these idiots wrong.
Very easily answered… Why does anyone need a Kesha CD? Go your broke a$$ home byatch.
Well said, Rocky, well said.
There are those who have never been important, never will be, but! they want to be! To me she is one of those people. I don’t know her,she don’t know me! But she wants to spout off on rights of other people including those she don’t know anything about or a subject that she knows nothing about. She needs to have some one read the Constitution and the Bill of Rights to her. I say that because I do not think she has the intelligence to find the truth . Then again I don’t think she has the ability to think for herself. For some reality and truth comes ,because of their actions, only when there are is one left to defend them and they are on the long march as we have seen happen past history.
She is missing the biggest problem with banning something…IT DOESN’T WORK.
Doesn’t work with drugs, didn’t work with liquor, and it won’t work with guns/magazines…at least not for the criminals.
So what will citizens do when they have another “Battle of Athens”, (when WWI vets rebelled against their corrupt government).
Does no one remember the 1965 Watts Riots? Or the 1992 LA riots, or more recently the Hurricane Katrina looting & killing.
How many times has our National Guard been called out to kill their own citizens? (As they are being called out now at the pipeline in North Dakota!)
Maybe Kesha doesn’t think she needs a weapon, but she doesn’t speak for me….maybe she thinks our Government could never turn on us…it could never happen in America….BUT IT ALREADY HAS!
John, I remember Watts because I was there! Unbelievable!!
Kesha? Who’s she?
Unfortunately, neither she nor her fans (I assume she HAS fans) will ever read your post because they’re much too comfortable in their ignorance.
Don’t know her either. What happened to bands like Pink Floyd, the Ramones, REM, U2, etc.? Must be too expensive to make real rock music. Listen to country music now because it is what rock use to be.
These so called “stars” should F-off and go back to their fairy tale life. It’s obvious that they have no clue nor understanding of what is going on when it comes to 2A issues and firearms. Most of these so called stars are disgusting fruitcake types.
AMEN!
“I understand that the right to own a gun is a constitutional issue”
When did the Constitution become an issue? I think Hollywood should be moved to Canada!
Nope. Don’t see the back of her head bobbin’ in my lap; so don’t care what she thinks any more than she cares what I think.
If someone were to present a threat to me, she’d finally serve a second purpose, as I’d use her to shield myself from what she says “can’t happen, because like, stuff”. Besides, her ARMED security would be protecting us both (well, her). Funny thing about that “halo protection”…..
Does anyone really care what this wannabe says? If they want to pose a question, ask why so many blacks are the shooters in the majority of violent crimes Eve though they are a “minority”. And don’t blame African Americans. Every shooting I have heard about wasn’t committed by an immigrant from Africa.
Wish I could correct grammar and spelling after the fact but the point is still made. Most of us own weapons for protection – not aggression. The police do a great job for the most part but they almost always arrive after the crime has been committed. That is too late for the victim.
Another one from the land of fruit and nuts…California…wanting to re-write the Bill of Rights.
Gun deaths …30,000 or so a year…are NOT an epidemic. They are actually decreasing.
Also bear in mind that about 60% of those each year are a choice…suicide.
The rest? Many are the result of drug and gang violence.
People kill people…guns do not kill people.
Remember how well prohibition worked? Same as the “War on Drugs”…more drugs now…more powerful…cheaper than ever.
Yes…restrict guns from criminals…maybe start there.
Is Ke$ha going to volunteer to go door to door and take illegal guns from thugs and gang members?
Yeah…I thought not.
Just another gimmick to get attention.
While speaking of dangerous weapons, let us not leave out stiletto ‘assault’ heels. These fearsome devices contain greater than 4 inches of ‘mean fighting to the death pointy ends’ and in the hands of fighting types like Keshsa, need to be regulated to keep them off the street and out of the hands of those who walk on our streets. Why do people need ‘assault heels’ anyway, when there are all sorts of soft soled sneakers which will keep our streets safe? If someone needs ‘assault heels’, then a thorough background check prior to issuing an ‘open heeled’ permit for purchase and wearing of assault heels. This is a common sense solution to keep our streets and homes safer. People won’t need to worry, we aren’t after banning them completely just keeping them off evil feet.
Gun Control? Just this past weekend Chicago had the most gun related crime in the nation. Ill. and NY have the most Gun Control in the country. Rights for Police to enforce the laws and courts that will put this shit in jail where they belong are needed! NOT letting them out, like one of the two brothers that shot and killed Duane Wades niece or cousin. RESPECT is also lacking today. Look at the man mowing his lawn, I believe in CHI. who was shot by a young man on a FRICKIN BIKE. He should be still be getting a beating from his Dad, if he has onethen put in jail. Read this young lady
Why does a pop star need a Maserati? I drive a Ford, there is no need for a car that will go 200 MPH. They should be outlawed.
I agree with all the comments so far. Had to go out of my way to agree with yours: Cars and Guns are both objects used by people; both have the potential to be dangerous. Why are they not ‘regulated’ the same way?
If I didn’t know you were being sarcastic, I would be offended. I drive a Ford…that will go 200 mph.
Gun owners must stop falling into the trap of admitting to and using the phrase “Assault Rifle or Assault Weapon”. One must first understand that no particular gun can assault anyone. It is the criminal that uses the gun who is the assailant. Assault weapon is a term made up by the anti-gun lobby and politicians. It is a term that morphed from the early 60’s when these same people wanted to ban “Saturday Night Specials”. I’m sure if they ever succeed to ban the popular semi-auto rifles and handguns, they will come up with another term like excessively powerful firearms aimed at banning centerfire rifles and shotguns. Another point to debate is the anti-gun politicians and faceless, bureaucrats categorizing “assault weapons” by curtain features like folding stock, threaded barrels, flash hiders, and so called high capacity magazines. Their argument is that they make a firearm more lethal. This is disingenuous because by their nature, guns are lethal when used to hunt or for self-defense. If they were not lethal, there would be no reason to have the Second Amendment. These anti-gun politicians ask for so called, “common sense gun laws”, yet nothing they present makes sense, and does not stop criminals from getting, and using guns to commit their crimes. They ask gun owners to “compromise”. Well I believe we have compromised too much already. There are over 20,000 gun laws already on the books and they keep asking for more. If they want compromise, let’s start by cutting the numbers of those laws in half. Lastly, this year’s presidential election will be the most important ever for gun owners and our Constitutional freedoms. Hillary Clinton has made it clear that she will push for a complete ban on guns, and the eventual repeal of the 2nd Amendment, in her first 100 days if elected. We cannot let that happen.
After the 2a falls what’s next? Perhaps the 1A, and then we wouldn’t have to listen to inane numbskulls hash out BAD POP music! Doesn’t the government have the same obligation to protect us from bad music, bad lyrics, and bleeched hair, TOO?
No… it doesn’t.
‘Nuff said.
Actually this is one of the most coherent arguments I have seen from a singer. Unfortunately it is full of fallacy but as a whole it is persuasive and for those who are ignorant probably pretty effective. Notice there was no name-calling, casting aspersions or “us vs. them” in it. This is what we need to learn from and our pro-firearm articles should be just as persuasive and balanced.
2A, 2A, 2A . . . Methinks we are approaching the gun ownership rights position a bit incorrectly. Each word in the Second Amendment has been dissected, evaluated, re-evaluated, debated, defined, redefined and scrutinized until each of us have ample opportunity to craft an opinion we can live with, or protest against.
But, does anyone remember the Third Amendment?
“No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.”
I truly believe that we have to look beyond the Second, to the Original Ten (Big 10). They work in concert with each other, each having specific value in and of itself, and feed the others.
Within the context of the Big 10, each should have equal value, in my opinion. And, if you incorporate the language from 2 AND 3 into one big paragraph, and look back to the origins and spirit of their crafting, the Founding Fathers (FFs) did not wish to be oppressed, ever again!
It is my opinion that the FFs, if they were alive today, and aware of modern warfare technologies, would look at us crossways and ask a collective question – “Um, how will the citizen defend his home against troops, foreign or domestic, at time of war or peace from entering upon and remaining upon their land without Congressional authorization?”
And, the easy answer is quite simple. Whatever they have, we should have as well. No standing Army of any country in our world today uses sticks, bats or butter knives. So, give us a permit process where a law abiding citizen can keep and bear equal weaponry, by jumping over reasonable hurdles.
Yes, we should be able to own handguns, shotguns, rifles, 66M LAWS, Howitzers, Battleships, F18A Hornets, any any other “tools” a military has in their arsenal, up to and including ICBMs if the citizen can ensure he has the means to ensure he’s got a good plan to keep his Peacekeeper in good working order and proper protections for the half life and disposal of his unused payload, as per BATFABCDEFG guidelines.
And, maybe a neighborhood of Peacekeeper owners on our west coast can all chip in (like an association fee?) and operate a private command center that tracks what Kimmy from Korea is up to, and if their homesteads are threatened, they have the means to reasonably respond to the threat.
Is this an over-the-top position? Ha! Heck no. Its an inalienable right from the Big 10! Actually, from a combination of numbers 2, 3, 9 and a sprinkling of 10.
If you build any structure that you wish to stand the test of time, you use a cornerstone to build upon. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but, if you start with a cornerstone of Jell-O, that changes shape every so often, your building will fall down. I’m no builder, but, I’m no dummy, either. I want MY structure to have a corner STONE!
So, I ask that you join me in asking Kesha and all the others what their position is on the THIRD Amendment and how it is usable and practical in today’s world, and in concert with the Second. And, have your camera ready, because you’re going to get a caricature of the RCA dog staring at the Gramophone. What a great photo to post on your social media site as an response to THEIR post about their strong and unwavering opinion on 2A.
Fasten your seatbelts, and please keep your hands and feet inside the car at all times. Welcome to Great America, enjoy your ride!
An attempt to stay relevant. Sad.
I love it when these half-wits spout this crap. I will surrender my arms when she sends all of her security peeps’ weapons to the scrapyard. The media is complicit in these BS spouting celebs also. It’s not news anymore, it’s entertainment and celeb opinions get top billing. Most are barely educated beyond a GED and yet they are the “prophets” of the new age.
Ignorant wench! The 2nd Amendment wasn’t written because the deer were coming. And an AR 15 is NOT an assault rifle.
Until today, I did not even know who she was. Still I don’t but I know she’s an idiot!
Ironic coming from her… She has this guitar… http://cdn03.cdn.justjared.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/kesha-caux/kesha-caux-france-concert-08.jpg
Wow, looks like she is the, ‘Matt Damon,’ of pop music. Another efin’ hypocrite.
Her left-leaning views are not surprising. They are based on a script they feed them along with the liberal cool-aid that ‘gun control saves lives’. Bringing your kids up to respect law and law enforcement and keeping them off unsafe streets and out of gangs saves lives. I’m only surprised she didn’t pull out the the ATF’s ever-so-popular ‘sporting use’ excuse as well.
I’m still waiting, but not holding my breath, for someone to show me where hunting and sporting use is mentioned in the 2A…
I have been a gun owner ever since I became 16 years old. In fact I had taken training from some members or the NRA. I also have a NC concealed carry permit
Unless we are planning to have another civil war within the borders of the United States I see no need for there to be assault rifles in the hands of our citizens. This is a weapon of war. You, as a hunter surely don’t want to go out and kill prey with one of them unless you are totally crazy. There is not one single documented case where having an assault rifle ever saved any ones life.
So yes some of us gun owners are sane people who understand that not every type of gun should be in the hands of the public.
Sorry to burst your bubble, Michael, but until someone defines what an “assault rifle” is, and not the squiggly mushy descriptions we get from some people like the AG of Mass (an assault rifle is a rifle that is “black”), we can’t even have the conversation about what to prohibit. We have one sensible statement in the CT gun statutes – a weapon with “selective fire” – i.e. fully automatic and switchable to semi-automatic. Now I may be criticized for this, but I find that a “reasonable” exclusion.
However we see the Hollywood elite throwing around terms they don’t understand and can’t define. Which makes all their statements “crap”. Like Matt Damon – rich from movies about guns and killing, but against guns. Give me a break!
Michael,
Sorry to break it to you, but you are dead wrong on everything you have written. See my post below about the use of semi-auto rifles as an effective tool in hunting. Instead of just taking lessons from an NRA member, perhaps you should join the NRA. Then you could receive one of their fine publications like, “American Rifleman,” every month, which contains the official journal, “The Armed Citizen,” which cites instance from the newspapers across our Nation of individuals defending themselves and their families with firearms, which include semi-auto rifles. Ask any soldier, or LEO if semi-auto rifles save lives.
Furthermore, war was declared on us officially on September 11, 2001, when Muslim extremist killed almost 3000 Americans. George W. Bush made it official several days later with a declaration of the War on Terror. Wake up! We are at war! That war is still being waged on our very soil. Do we need a weapon of war? Not unless you love your family.
Case & Point: The Orlando Night Club Terrorist, of 6/12/16.
This terrorist was brought down by semi-auto, high capacity, so called, “weapons of war.” Oh, you mean only the police should have these weapons of war, and regular folks should wait around and get slaughtered during the 30-60 minutes while waiting for the police to arrive (3 hour stand-off, in the case of Orlando Terrorist).
But if we banned citizens from owning them, like Chicago has, we would be just as safe as those Chicagoan’s are. I’m a little slow, I guess. I just don’t get it. Someone please enlighten me.
Hey, ignorant slut; hunters don’t use, or even have access to, assault rifles. The liberal media is famous for using this phrase to make a certain semi-automatic rifle (i.e. the AR-15) sound scary. An assault rifle by U.S. Army definition is a selective-fire rifle chambered for a cartridge of intermediate power.
That ring in her nose must be where Hillary Bloomberg chains her on the leash. I’m sure everyone will have one in the New World Order.
She’s too ignorant to even KNOW what an ‘Assault’ rifle is….
Not to mention clueless and naive enough to think that criminals who already ignore existing laws re Rape and Murder,, will magically obey gun laws…..
I read this with my morning coffee…now its time to take a Obongoloid/Hillabeast and wipe my Kesha
I almost spewed a mouthful of beer on my monitor after reading your comment. FTG1(SS)
Folks please do not feed the beast and refer to our defense rifles as “assault” rifles .The very term assault makes us sound like nut jobs ,don’t use it .
Your mindset is the first step in voluntarily forfeiting your right. We are free to call an AR-15 or AK-47or whatever, anything we want. Assault rifle, assault weapon, tactical rifle, battle rifle, automatic weapon, machinegun, big scary black gun; DON’T GIVE ANOTHER INCH!
I actually used to like her, but after making those statements, I realize she’s just an ignorant twit.
I did not read this article, I do not have to. What’s a pop star named Keisha know about guns and their uses? The answer is nothing. Her opinion does not matter. She is just being used to keep the ant-gun band wagon rolling.
For that matter… what does a Joe-shmoe named, Roger know about guns? You can’t make statements like this about people you know nothing about. What do you know about the knowledge of people you never met?
Mike, for real? Go somewhere else if you wanna be stupid.
Maybe she should spend some time with Keanu Reeves and see that GUNS aren’t the problem. GUNS don’t kill anyone. PEOPLE kill. And NONE of my rifles, even the ones with 50+ round magazines are “assault” rifles. They are DEFENSE RIFLES to defend myself to the best of my ability against ANYONE, that includes Gestapo agents with badges that have decided to “enforce” some psychopaths edict on ME or my neighbors. Molon Labe
I agree with Kesha: “if anyone can buy an assault rifle, why can’t we all buy rocket-propelled grenade launchers?”
Where do I sign-up for my rocket-propelled grenade launcher? I always wanted one of those. And a nuclear physics package wouldn’t be too much to ask for, too, would it?
I love how the anti-gun crowd doesn’t even have a clue what laws we already have on the books for these things, they just continue to use hyperbole as it suits their needs.
Dave…you’re right WHY CAN”T I BUY A ROCKET PROPELLED GRENADE? If all I was EVER going to do with it is use it against a vehicle full of TYRANTS enforcing TYRANNICAL laws? I should be able to own a Stinger Missile to blow an Apache helicopter out of the sky that was doing what the psycho screwball pilot was doing that Bradley Manning released the video of. Maybe we need to get the laws off the books that prohibit us from having those items. Maybe they shouldn’t be limited just to those psychos in the government to have.
What do you know about assault rifles? For one thing the only ones with assault rifles are the police, and the military. An assault weapon is steady fire once you pull the trigger and regular look alike rifles are on at a time.If your so hung up on guns why don’t you look at the statistics for automobile accidents that were caused by cellphones and texting while driving. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
Dale, it appears you know little about “assault” rifles. The police do not have “assault” rifles unless the officer that owns it has gone through the same process as everyone else with the BATFE. They have ARs, just like the rest of the population.
Maybe they should have an IQ test to drive a car. That would clear the roads and prevent so many deaths from car accidents.
Dave – keep me posted. I was a gunner on a 105mm Howitzer in the USMCR. Always liked the weapon, and I’m sure my F150 can tow it with a little modification. It would look neat in my driveway – although I’m getting older and those 42 lb shells are probably a bit heavy for me now.
How much would 50 rounds of 105mm White Phosphorus cost? With Time Delay fuses, of course!
FP, Let me check my Army/Navy surplus catalog, and I’ll get back to you.
All humor aside, many items currently prohibited should not be; and is is high time we repealed NFA 1934.
Well responded Mr. Blannelberry. But to address her original question, “Why does a hunter need an assault rifle?” I’m not sure what an assault rifle is, but in my State, a semi-auto, high capacity rifle is allowed by State law for coyote hunting, and is a very effective tool in that pursuit (quick, humane follow-up shots). I have an LEO friend with land in TX. He uses a semi-auto rifle in .300 BO to help control feral hogs on his property.
“Be courteous to all, but have a plan to kill them.” – Richard Garrison, from Hank Reinhardt’s: Book of Knives
Hey lady I need my assault rifle like Rosa Parks needed to sit in the front of the bus!
It’s called a right!
Get over it.
…..Assualt…..
WRONG!
Kesha who? Never heard about that woman before, guess just one of the thousand “singers” out there that can only sing with the help of a computer. I hated mainstream music and ever will.
Take a look at this statement of hers: “I love how free our country is and believe that love and empathy can heal divisions”
Well, if she believes into this stuff, then why not sending her to the ISIS controlled areas and let her try to enforce that statement of hers. I am sure that her “love and empathy” can heal the sick minds of these terrorists, doesn’t it? Or another idea, put her on the streets of Chicago in the middle of the night, of course without having a gun. Let’s see how long she survives without getting assaulted, raped or whatever.
But you know what “Kesha” (stupid fake ID): I cannot even really blame you. I know that in today’s times people have to be politically correct to make it big. But I am sure, as soon as a new “star” rises and your 15 minutes in the spotlight are over and you are down on the streets again without fans, without guards and whatever you have right now, I am sure your thoughts will change, probably when it might be already too late. You live in an ivory tower now “Kesha”, enjoy it as long as you can while there are million people out there in America trying to protect their rights and billions of people outside of the United States, just like me, that are wishing every day for having the same freedom like your country has: The very most important thing in life if you want to keep it: Self-defense. It is part of human history since the dawn of time “Kesha”, just that you know. And as soon as you are down on the streets again and see the truth by getting assaulted etc., then I am sure you will change the sides but then no one will listen because you are not important then anymore, while so many other young women will be in the spotlight then, going through the same rollercoaster lives as you did.
“Where is this line exactly?”
The 2nd amendment knows no line and believe me “Kesha”, your fathers, the ones that wrote the constitution, knew what they were doing because they experienced life in Europe and it never changed until today: A victim stays a victim because we don’t have the same right of self-defense as you have, thanks to our dictatorship loving, gun-grabbing, political correctness cheering politicians. This is how things “work” outside of the USA, think about that “Kesha”! People are killed here, getting assaulted, getting raped, getting robbed and whatever else you can imagine every day because the bad guys have the guns and the good guys have NOTHING!
Well said, Christian.
Hello Tom, my thanks to you. I am always glad to see that my humble English skills are fine enough, so that even mother tongue speakers can understand my political view on a matter, which I admit have very less knowledge about.
Have a nice day.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^He’s RIGHT you know!^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I feel for those of you outside of the US that don’t have the ability to defend yourselves against the criminals on the STREET and the CRIMINALS running your countries! I just had a recent conversation with a young lady from the Ukraine that told me of her experience living in a country where only the PSYCHOS in control of have weapons. How they are defenseless. I mean even someone with a knife can rob and rape over there because seriously, what does any woman of small size and stature have as a defense unless she takes years of martial arts? And even then there is no way to know for sure that you won’t end up cut. SELF DEFENSE IS A HUMAN RIGHT and the RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS IS A RIGHT FOR ALL HUMANS! MOLON LABE!
I studied martial arts for years. One thing I learned: You go up against an attacker with a knife, you are going to get cut. No ifs, ands or buts. The best defense against a knife is to run or a gun. Otherwise, prepare your mind for getting cut because it is going to happen.
Hi, interesting that you have studied Martial Arts. As I just wrote to Mark, I honestly do not believe (as a layman) that you have any chance with these techniques, as soon as the bad guy has a gun, even if it is just a knife. And due to the fact that Martial Arts are always relied on hand to hand combat, you are doomed if your opponent draws even nothing more than a small revolver and you are still a few meters away. Maybe if you have something handy with you and learned Kobudo, then you would stand a chance against a guy with a knife (just my guessing though) but I don’t think that you are always walking around with some peasant tools on yourself to actually use Kobudo techniques. No, if I could I also would stick to modern weapons for self-defense. A nice Glock, Heckler & Koch or any other reliable pistol are good enough for the job, I believe.
Mark, ‘Nuf said!
Hello Mark,
You are absolutely right in everything you’ve just written! I was shaken so much, when I followed some of the news about the Ukraine last year. Especially Europe should know better, after having fought in two world wars, that self-defense comes first. And I personally don’t trust into Martial Arts in the modern times. I remember watching videos in the internet that kind of teach you in how to fight off a random guy on the streets, who is threatening you. They were showing special kinds of conversations to cool down the situation, defense-moves and stuff like this but when they got to the point that the attacker has a knife, they gave you the tip of just keeping distance or, in a worst case, run away. That’s it.
Without any kind of weapon in your hand you are just busted. The attacker doesn’t have to be a master in swordsmanship to give you some cuts because everybody can obviously wield a knife randomly around and become dangerous. It is so sad to see that your country is the only one which knows that the worldwide guaranteed right for life requires a right for self-defense as well but at the same time is infringing its own freedom, even with the fact that any kind of infringement is forbidden by your very constitution. Every day I just wonder how can this all be possible, as most Americans surely know about the 2nd amendment, not just the republican voters.
