Meme Perfectly Sums Up How Foolish the NFA Is

in Authors, Industry News, S.H. Blannelberry

This might be the best meme I’ve seen to sum up the foolishness that is the National Firearms Act.  The guys over at Texas Machine Gun & Ordnance posted it to their Facebook page along with the following notes:

Meme Perfectly Sums Up How Foolish the NFA Is

While assembling some Pistol Grip Only Shotguns today, it occurred to us how silly the NFA can be.

These are all the same guns, from the same factory, came from the same distributor in the same shipment, and the bottom 3 are ll fitted with the same 14″ barrel.

1. The gun comes in as a regular Title 1, Pistol Grip Shotgun.

2. We add a 14″ barrel to it, and it becomes an NFA regulated Any Other Weapon which transfers with a $5 tax stamp.

3. Once we add a Shockwave grip, and it’s overall length comes up to 26.2″; it is no longer an AOW and reverts back to being a Title 1, Pistol Grip Shotgun.

4. But if you add a stock to the same gun, it becomes a Short-Barrel Shotgun, which transfer with a $200 tax stamp.

Your tax dollars at work

also why is there a barrel length requirement dont these idiots realize the oal could stay the same whether the barell length is 14 or 18 inch if the gun is 26 and that a 14 inch barell wastes more powder and has less deadlyness velocity and damage

  • Nathaniel Shelton December 29, 2021, 2:03 am

I personally thing gun control should not exist for law abiders but however one reason it looks so retarded is because of consealability and one has a stock and you have to understand when you have a butt padded stock(not shoulder brace) you can run the gun esp pumps alot faster with less recoil and more stability and better more consistent sight picture if you use the cheek rest right and have at least 3 points of contact which makes you much deadlier for say a shooting but law abiders would use that for good (self defense) and no matter how you control a guns deadlyness you wont stop criminals from killing fully auto sbr or you grandpops pump shotgun either way people will be innocent victims to shooters (not inanimate guns) from irresponsible people who put their problems through gun violence instead of manning up to their challenges in life

Illustrates what I feel about the nfa.
Let me tax full auto and modern artillery if they gotta but trash the rest.
How does demensions increase lethality? How does a muffler make a gun deadlier?

  • Luap June 30, 2017, 1:32 am

What about smooth bored pistols? They are less than 26inchs…

  • Greg June 25, 2017, 8:42 am

Really doesn’t matter why they make their laws, because the Constitution says the government will make NO law infringing o the right to own guns. Size, mag capacity or any other nonsense is unconstitutional period.

  • Daniel Getz June 24, 2017, 6:17 pm

It’s not the length that makes these guns perfectly safe, its that magic $200, now all the sudden you are OK to own it and its no longer dangerous. The premise that if you have more money to throw around a gun becomes safe is the real lunacy.

    Charlie has it right!
Also how about 10% tax for everyone, then we can do away with the IRS and that my friends is a big saving on us tax payers

  • Dtizzle June 23, 2017, 9:24 pm

I find it funny and agree with the meme, but I would suggest trying not to post it excessively at wave it around in people’s faces. I like my shockwave and would prefer to keep it and arm braces off the front page of someone’s anti gun website etc. Give the current administration some time and hopefully some of this anti gun nonsense will be relaxed, or preferably, completely removed.

The $200 stamp should go away. The only that is exist is for government revenue.criminals that use these type of firearms do not pay the tax. The only people who pay any attention to this tax is the ones who follow the law and in most cases do not use them for criminal acts.( May be one exception, not real sure about Holder former Oboma main man. Exempt form being convicted for any wrong doing.)

    • Ric June 30, 2017, 6:22 am

That is what laws are made for, the populus. Jails were supposed like made for those who don’t. Doesn’t necessarily work that way anymore tho.

  • Franks62 June 23, 2017, 11:47 am

Not defending the law at all but do keep in mind that in 1934 there was, for the general public, two types of shotgun, the sportsman’s hunting shotgun and something cut down for use by criminals. This is a simplification obviously but that’s the thought process. The numbers where probably selected to make sure youths could still have a useable shotgun but those dastardly gangsters would be stymied in their pursuit of a concealed shotgun (until they get a saw anyway…).

Don’t forget the old trench gun. Dann useful tool in certain spots.

    • Paint June 27, 2017, 11:03 pm

Or the double barreled coach gun. That’s not a “sporting” shotgun but is made for a perfectly legal use: self defense!

  • Larry June 23, 2017, 11:13 am

If the Feds would finally, once & for all, quit trying to regulate us citizens on our choice of semi auto & less firearms, they would finally begin to conform to the Second Amendment of the US Constitution, for the first time in many decades.

  • Just1Spark June 23, 2017, 10:05 am

Its not ‘retarded’ if it limits YOUR access to firearms in any way shape or form.
    Its called clever.

Stop giving them a pass by assuming they are stupid. They know exactly what they are doing.
    Which makes them GUILTY!

  • Brent June 23, 2017, 9:19 am

17.99″ barrel = deadly killer shotgun
    18.00″ barrel = perfectly safe

25.99″ length = deadly killer shotgun
    26.00″ length = perfectly safe

    Makes perfect sense.

  • mike June 23, 2017, 9:13 am

Ok.. I am a simple guy… so I will ask a very simple question… How much does it cost the Feds to administer a $5.00 piece of paper? My guess is $500.00! God help us.. PLEASE Pres. TRUMP – here is a great example of how to save $$MILLIONS!!

  • Cyrus June 23, 2017, 7:40 am

I got the top one in Mossberg and Remington and am perfectly happy with them. Don’t see the need for a smaller one with less shell capacity for HOME Defense where these type of shotguns are meant for.

    • David Smith June 24, 2017, 2:18 pm

the tube length/capacity is the same for all of them. plus a shorter barrel is easier to swing in a hallway or tight spaces. also opens up the shot pattern.

    • Gary Gaiser June 24, 2017, 7:00 pm

      Cyrus,
“Need” is irrelevant It is a right and no one shall infringe your right’s. PERIOD. After all you probably don’t need a car that has 200 hp or can go faster then 60 mph.

  • Will Drider June 20, 2017, 11:07 pm

26″ The magical number! All the different configurations and B/S tax on some make zero difference to the target, since there is ZERO difference in capability: there should be ZERO difference in the way they are sold and that should be the least restrictive!
