Maztech adds a high-power, civilian-legal IR illuminator to its X4-LRF ecosystem, bringing modular IR performance to night vision users. The new Maztech Illuminator mounts directly to the X4 LRF and leans hard into flexibility.

It targets shooters running night vision and clip-ons who want clean illumination at distance. The accessory is set to ship near the end of Q2 with an MSRP of $999.
Modular Design Built Around the X4 LRF Ecosystem
Maztech designed the X4-LRF as more than a standalone rangefinder. The “X4” name reflects an ecosystem approach. It’s currently the only rangefinder on the market built around a modular accessory port. That port allows users to add mission-specific hardware without replacing the core unit.
The new Illuminator marks the first accessory built for that interface and bolts directly into the side of the X4 LRF housing. Users can install it themselves without gunsmithing or factory service. Users remove two screws, swap the cover plate, install the Illuminator, and torque it down. This modular approach also opens the door for future accessories. Maztech confirmed the ecosystem will continue to expand.

High-Power, Civilian-Legal IR Performance
The Maztech Illuminator uses VCSEL technology to deliver high output while staying civilian legal. Maztech estimates output around 100 milliwatts. That power level targets shooters running night vision clip-ons, shooting at extended distances.
Maztech specifically tuned the Illuminator for clip-on compatibility. The company says the unit maintains consistent performance past 1,100 meters. The beam supposedly stays usable without falling apart at longer distances. Beam quality was a clear focus. Maztech designed the Illuminator to deliver a clean, even beam with minimal artifacts.

Adjustable Beam and Ergonomic Controls
The Illuminator offers both beam steering and flood adjustment. Users can zero the beam to their setup. The beam also adjusts from wide flood for CQB to a tight spot for long-range shooting.
A throw lever controls beam adjustment. It allows fast changes even in the dark. The control sits on the left side of the unit for easy up-and-down manipulation. The layout favors use behind the gun in real shooting positions.

Installation, Pricing, and What’s Next
Installation is user-friendly and fast. There’s no need to send the X4-LRF back to Maztech. That keeps downtime to a minimum. The Maztech IR Illuminator carries a $999 MSRP.
Shipping is expected around the end of Q2. Maztech also confirmed a wireless remote is in development for the X4-LRF. The remote will allow users to control accessories without touching the unit.
