One of the more unique AR products we saw at SHOT Show 2023 was the Cage handguard from Matrix Arms.
Basically, it allows one to switch his or her favorite modern sporting rifle from semi-auto to pump action.
For pump action mode, the user needs to remove the gas block and gas tube. Then, he or she can rack the pump on the Cage and it will work to manipulate the charging handle to chamber a round.
It should be noted that the pump also functions in semi-auto mode to charge the handle.

For those who live in states where ARs are prohibited, the cage handguard may prove to be a work around. Though, one better do some due diligence on state and local laws before one takes the leap.
It’s pretty cool product and Matrix is currently working on accessory mounts that will fit on the rails.
Price for the full upper should fall in the $800 range. It should be available for purchase in the coming weeks.

I’m not filled with much confidence on this not-ready-for-prime-time offering and the man they put out front to sell it is not doing well at all.
They might want to sell it as a hybrid semi/repeater with that gas cut-off for suppressor use but other than that… who asked the question that they are trying to answer with a hybrid?
