Let’s Fire a Squib Load!!!

in Authors, Rapid Fire, S.H. Blannelberry, This Week

From DemolitionRanch, “A squib round is a bullet that gets stuck in the barrel. It can be dangerous if another cartridge is fired and the 2nd bullet slams into it. So let’s do that!”

Yep. Nobody should ever experiment. Never. Especially those pesky Wright brothers. That contraption they are trying to get up into the air might land on someone and hurt them… Will you guys please lighten up. I, for one, actually wanted to see what would happen. I understand that this was not a standard squib, but he was going with what he had on hand to work with. I like the guy. He does things with relative safety and satisfies peoples’ intellectual curiosity. I’d rather watch him do it from the safety of my home office, with my son, than have my son do the experimenting. If it wasn’t for peoples’ curiosity and desire to explore science, we wouldn’t have many of the things we have today, like SURGERY, the power of FLIGHT, ELECTRICTY, etc. For xxxx’s sake, lighten up. Don’t like him, don’t watch…

He seems a nice enough guy BUT, this childish experimentation with loaded firearms is just a disaster waiting to happen. It makes me shudder when I think of all the impressionable individuals who may attempt to emulate his behaviour. We may get enjoyment from our firearms but whatever they are, they aren’t toys. If you get it wrong they kill you or they kill some somebody else who just happens by. I really think this guy should stick to water buckets over doors and fart cushions. This sort of thing absolutely gives shooters a bad name.

Isn’t this the same idiot that thought micro wave popcorn is what you load into a shot shell? You would think the administrator of this web site would have figured this clown out and stop posting from him! There are enough gun grabbers out there trying to make gun owners look like kooks, I don’t think Guns America should be helping them. Maybe reconsidering my subscription.

Looks like he is just having fun. I enjoy his postings. He does what he does relatively safe. One of you posted, is afraid kids are going to try this. If the kid doesn’t know how to handled a gun, What in the hell is he doing with one? Just another way to cleanse the gene pool.

This should be a eye opener for beginner re-loaders. Some times the powder drop screws up and does not put enough powder in the case and the bullet gets seated and guess what, you get a squib. Check your powder weight periodically to make sure its dropping a full charge of powder or you will have a bullet stuck in you barrel. And in a semi auto with a double tap you just might have a kaboom and a ruined fire arm or worse .

I reload. After charging each case and before I seat any bullets, I look at every case in my loading block(s) to ensure that every case has the same level of powder. On occassion, I have found cases with no powder and cases with double powder. Only once those are corrected do I seat the bullets. I would never intentionally create or fire a squib load. But, to each his own… I just remember the law of natural selection.
With that said, I have had a squib load. If you don’t pay meticulous attention to the reloading manual, you might miss the requirement of certain powders for magnum primers, even if every other powder only requires regular (small pistol or small rifle) primers. What saves you is knowing what firing the round should sound like, and reacting accordingly when you don’t hear enough “boom”. After haveing to disassemble 350 rounds with an impact bullet remover, I’ve not repeated that mistake….

I disagree, he seems to be safe in what he does, it may not be the safest thing to do, but he stands way away and uses a “contraption” to fire the weapon. I know I’m not the only one out here that would want to know what would happen if you fire one of those, now I/we know. I watched several of his videos and there really is good entertaining information there, he seems to always wear safety protection and take a reasonable amount of precaution.

    Interesting..
1st .. This was not an example of a squib load. I’m not even sure he understands just what a squib is.
A squib is not created by blocking the barrel.
If he had wanted to replicate a squib he would have loaded progressively lighter loads in the cartridge
until the bullet remained in the barrel. A true squib is not expanded ans stuck in the barrel.

2nd.. There has been plenty of correct and proper research – testing on squibs by smarter people.

3rd.. YES!! Squibs do mess up things if a round is fired behind them.

#1 contender for the very next Darwin award!!
Morons like this guy make ALL gun owners look bad. I’m not only talking about this video, but the clips of his other videos serve to prove my point.
And you just know that some of the younger viewers will completely ignore the “warnings” from this moron, and try something similar. NOT a good video to present here!

Why the hell is this idiot even featured? Good example of a dangerous person. Dangerous to himself and to others. This guy should be shopping at Toys r Us not the gun store.

    • Ron February 12, 2015, 12:52 pm

Tracy, I couldn’t agree with you more!! This guy’s a real moron and should never have been featured nor should he be allowed to own a firearm!! One day we’ll read how he blew is head off doing something stupid!!
