California Sen. Leland Yee — Portrait of a Scumbag

in 2nd Amendment – R2KBA, Authors, Current Events, S.H. Blannelberry, This Week
Leland Yee, a total and complete scumbag.

Leland Yee, a total and complete scumbag.

The story of Leland Yee reads to me like an infomercial where instead of adding on more features to improve the salability of the product, they keep piling on ascending notes of incredulity that only serve to make one more angry and frustrated on how broken the justice system is and how corrupt our politicians are. In short, the more you learn about Yee’s story, the more maddening it gets.

Let’s start off, shall we?

Ladies and gentlemen, I’d like to present you Sen. Leland Yee, a Democrat from California. He served District-8, that is to say, San Francisco. The city by the bay!

But wait, there’s more…

Yee is a staunch supporter of rolling back the rights of law-abiding gun owners. He is a gun-grabber of the highest order. In addition to backing the failed and pointless process of micro-stamping, Yee has been a longtime proponent of banning modern sporting rifles.

In 2012, while backing a measure (SB 249) that would ban any semi-automatic rifle with a detachable magazine, Yee said, “It is extremely important that individuals in the state of California do not own assault weapons. I mean that is just so crystal clear, there is no debate, no discussion.”

But wait, there’s more…

Yes was heralded by the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence for his anti-gun agenda. In 2006, he was awarded to the group’s “Gun Violence Prevention Honor Roll.”

But wait, there’s more…

After being the subject of a four-year investigation by the FBI, Yee was arrested in March 2014. The senator was charged with various crimes for attempting to extort campaign contributions from an NFL team owner, taking bribes to vote on certain pieces of legislation, i.e. selling his vote to the highest bidder, assisting shell companies in their quest for state grants and contracts — and most, importantly, offering to smuggle automatic weapons and shoulder-fired rockets into the country via Philippines-based terrorist cells in exchange for campaign donations.

Just to repeat, Yee does not want law-abiding Americans to have semi-automatic modern sporting rifles. Nope. That shouldn’t even be discussed or debated. But Yee is more than happy to furnish terrorist groups with fully-automatic assault rifles!

Yee, who is 67, faced up to 20 years in prison — essentially, the rest of his life.

But wait, there’s more…

Despite all the evidence compiled by the FBI, Yee only pled guilty to one count of federal racketeering in July 2015 for accepting bribes. Federal prosecutors then recommended an 8-year sentence for Yee.

But wait, there’s more…

Lee’s defense attorney argued that Yee’s gun smuggling deal involved only 100 rifles and $44,000 in bribes — not the $100,000 figure and 200 guns that the government purported. In other words, he should be granted some leniency with respect to sentencing because he only tried to place 100 guns in the hands of terrorists — not 200.

The attorney also had the audacity to say that Yee “shouldn’t be over-punished because he’s a public official.”

But wait, there’s more…

The judge seemed to be aware of the gravity of the crime, especially in light of Yee’s public image as a bastion for tougher gun laws.

“The hypocritical position on your part to be for gun control and that automatic weapons would be brought into the United States is frightening and unfathomable. I cannot tell you how disturbing it is,” said U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer on Wednesday, according to CourtHouseNews. “You were willing to go entirely contrary to your stated position for money, and that is the most venal and dangerous thing you’ve done.”

But wait, there’s more…

Despite Judge Breyer’s assessment, the hammer was not dropped on Yee. Instead, Yee was treated with kid gloves.

Breyer, a Clinton appointee, sentenced Yee to 60 months in prison. Five measly years! Five measly years!

But wait, there’s more…

Yee, now a convicted felon, is being sent to federal prison. But it’s not your typical hardened, federal penitentiary.

It’s a white-collar “correctional institution” in Taft, California, operated by a private corporation. It’s a “Club Fed,” not a Fed Pen. It made CNBC’s list of “The Best Places to Go to Prison.

But wait, there’s more…

So-called experts want us to believe that justice was served.  That Yee got a sentence worthy of his crime.

“The public should be assured officials who violate the public’s trust will be held accountable, and those of us who are tasked with holding officials to the highest ethical standards will be vigilant in doing so,” Jodi Remke, chairwoman of the state Fair Political Practices Commission, told the LA Times.

This narrative that the government is doing its job to police its own is complete B.S.  For every one Leland Yee that gets caught, how many currently roam free in Washington and in state capitals around the country?

Our lesson?

Leland Yee is a scumbag who betrayed the people he claimed to serve. He deserves to spend the rest of his life behind bars, serving hard time. He shouldn’t be remanded to some minimally-secured day spa where he can pal around with other white-collar criminals and joke about how he almost got away with everything he planned. It’s ridiculous.

But his sentencing and his treatment are a sign of all that’s wrong with our justice system, which caters to those with power, influence, money and crashes down on the poor and working class. Think about this, the U.S. makes up only five percent of the world’s population, yet has 25 percent of the world’s prison population. That raises a lot of questions. Why are the powers that be so quick to jail regular and working-class folks and reluctant to imprison the real perpetrators of chaos and disorder (corrupted politicians, feckless bankers, inept bureaucrats, corporate elites)?

After all, they are the ones bankrupting this country, attacking our civil liberties, destroying our environment, etc., why aren’t they being held accountable for the damage the sow? Why is it that someone like Leland Yee only gets a slap on the wrist for what should be a lifelong sentence? Why do we tolerate a justice system that is so alarmingly biased?

HEY !!! Don’t talk like that about Odumba’s Buddy !! And Dianne Fientsteers Pal..

  • DaveGinOly February 28, 2016, 9:04 pm

As I understand it, Yee was allowed to plea guilty to racketeering, and apparently the gun-running charge (a measly “conspiracy to traffic guns without a license” charge) was dropped. This is another example of the Obama administration’s DOJ failing to prosecute and punish yet another (major) firearms crime.

I have always referred to the Democratic Party as the Party of Treason. Think about it, Andrew Jackson loses in the Supreme Court and then uses the US Amy to ethnically cleanse American Indians from treaty lands in the Carolinas and Georgia so that his buddies could get the gold that had been discovered. Our first homosexual president, James Buchanan almost single handedly created the American Civil War before Abraham Lincoln could take office. The Democratic Party tries to split the nation in two because they lost an election and the Republicans won. The Democratic Party conspired with the government of the CSA (all democrats) during the entirety of the civil war to include conspiring with Lincoln’s assassins in Canada two weeks prior to the murder. After the war they create our first domestic terrorist organization (KKK) which they still control to this day (yeah the media portrays these idiots as Republicans but that is on purpose). Woodrow Wilson locked up US citizens for protesting WWI, singing songs in German, or just for being German no trials for most and those that did get tried never got a fair one. Franklin Roosevelt took that a step further locking up entire Japanese, Italian, and German families (all without trial) a generation later. Roosevelt also tried to pack the court when it tried to defend the constitution. Congress gave him nearly everything they could to help him set up the constitutional work arounds that we still are dealing with today. We have unelected bureaucrats creating laws instead of congress and nobody is held accountable at the ballot box because they can all honestly claim not to have voted on, for,or against these deliberate violations. The President gets have powers that our constitutional framers never wanted him to have and we are closer now to a second civil war than we have been since the late 1960s. A vote for a democrat is an act of treason. Membership in that party is an act of treason. Not saying to vote for Republicans because far too many of them are bought and paid for by the same scumbags that are hell-bent on electing Clinton/Rubio/Kasich. If they can’t have one of them then they will happily settle for Romney. Wake up America before it is too late. Anyone who tells you that we can’t or shouldn’t deport all illegals is a traitor no matter what party they belong to. Anyone who votes to give Obama his pick for our court is likewise a traitor. Republicans have no way under our constitution to stop a nomination from taking place, but the traitors (from both parties) will work together to get another Breyer on the bench. Under this president or the next.

I’m surprised he got prison time and not a parade in San Francisco. This is the People’s Republik of California, and the bluest city in a blue state. It’s funny, the number of “Red” counties outnumber the “Blue” counties 34 to 24, but because of the large population centers, and their desire to get “free stuff” and not work, they always win the election. As a Native of this once great state, we are looking at Wyoming as a possible landing spot. At least it’s still part of the “real” America, and not some quasi-communist community.

  • law dawg February 27, 2016, 10:43 am

Why should any of us be surprised… As a law enforcement officer for over thirty years and working several Asian task forces it became clear to me that California and this country have been bought out by the Asian community. Throughout many investigations I conducted and was involved in really opened my eyes. Mr. Yee a very coorupt politician is not the only one as you know folks. I have to say he should of paid the full amount extent of the law. If it were a middle class NRA member he/she would of been sentenced to death. The hypocrisy that exist in our government is unbelievable and the people need to get off there butts and do something before it’s too late…which is very close to happen ing. All law abiding citizens have to fight for the 2nd amendment without haste. People like yeeyee, obama, fienstein, Reid, holder, kamala Harris, Kerry, clintons, biden, and bloomberg need to be put in place and THAT is not in the position of power or the government. If people don’t think so gun confiscation started the bafoon in the white house was sworn in the 1st term….HURRY …TIME IS SHORT.

  • Well regulated militia man February 27, 2016, 9:58 am

    C’mon Jake, it’s Chinatown.

    • JT February 29, 2016, 1:51 am

At least there’s one other person in the room old enough to remember the movie and appreciate your point.

  • Methadras February 26, 2016, 6:01 pm

The problem with Yee’s criminality is that it was utterly rooted in hypocrisy in that he pushed, voted, and had his gun control legislation passed while on the black market side he was facilitating black market sales of the very weapons he had legislatively banned and making money from it by selling them to Asian gangs. While, law abiding citizens were screwed for his personal illicit profit. In effect, all of the laws his name is one should be nullified on that charge alone, but that’s not going to happen.

But the larger overall problem is how much of a lost cause that California really is. It is a one party ruled state. GOP is simply furniture that shows up to get sat on and GOP/conservatives will never get California back ever again. Ever. So we Californians are left with really the power of protest or referendum. We have no other choice to fight back against these leftists and people like Yee get off with next to nothing and we are left with their criminal hypocrisy that affects us all.

  • murphjuss February 26, 2016, 1:54 pm

Yee should be held to a higher standard of punishment.

  • Rob February 26, 2016, 1:30 pm

His crime is simply being a politician. Most are truly not worthy of office. Removing him from office is punishment enough. Maybe throw in a tar and feather for good measure. Why send an old man to prison for the rest of his life? For people like him stripping his political power is punishment enough. I wouldn’t want to spend another dime “punishing with prison” someone like this unless they were on the road to raping or murdering. Geriatric prisoners cost 2x more to incarcerate than those up to around 50 years old.

Just your typical [Insert your state name here] State Senator, except he was caught. Got it.

  • Richard Jones February 26, 2016, 10:36 am

Very sad to see someone in his position perpetuate such a crime. It’s sad to say that this guy is on the bottom of the ladder when it comes to elected officials corruption. This guy should have become Charles Manson’s cell mate instead of a life of luxury in a Club Med prison.

    • TPSnodgrass February 26, 2016, 5:51 pm

Charlie is in the custody of the State of California, NOT, the Federal government. Part of Yee-the-Scumbag’s sentencing is that he “cooperate” with Federal investigators, re: his giving the Asian terror gangs critical information to avoid detection of the smuggled fully automatic weapons and RPGs into the Estados Unidos.
Yee won’t do that of course, being the stellar Democrat POS he is, and hopefully even in his Club Fed dormitory in Taft, just outside of Bakersfield, someone will have the courtesy to the taxpayers to shank him and leave him bleeding out like the terror supporter he is.
With the 85% Federal guidelines in time served Yee will be out before his Five Years is reached unless we get lucky and he expires in prison.
There is no justice, no peace, especially when it’s a lowlife scumbag(Yeah I know) Democrat involved. Had Leland been a round eyed white boy, and conservative, he would have gone to state prison instead of Club Fed in Taft.

      • Justin Time February 27, 2016, 5:02 am

What I want to know is after he serves is time in Club Fed, does he still get his Government pension? He should be stripped of that. I would hate to see my tax dollars going into that sleaze’s mailbox every month.

  • Tom Benton February 26, 2016, 10:13 am

If you Tar and Feather him and parade him through the streets of San Francisco, it will look like any other parade in that city.
Officals in San Francisco are no different than the rest of the loonies who roam the streets. As the rule of law no longer prevails, perhaps it will take a great quake to return the once great City to some degree of deceny. Statistically, it is just a matter of time.

    • HOCUSPOCUS February 26, 2016, 4:43 pm

“Matter of time”… good point, unfortunately the cockroaches always prevail …. maybe there is some old DDT or gas line that ruptures….

  • Charlie King1 February 26, 2016, 8:55 am

“The attorney also had the audacity to say that Yee “shouldn’t be over-punished because he’s a public official.”

    This says it all…

    • Ram6 February 26, 2016, 9:22 am

Actually it’s the reason that Yee should be “overpunished”. Not only did he commit the crime, but he violated the public trust. A trust that doesn’t extend to an ordinary gun smuggler. It’s exepected that there are some that will commit these offenses, but we don’t expect it to be done by someone who occupies a public office. Therefore the 20 years behind bars would have been totally appropriate, but nothing less than the 8 years in the plea bargain (which should never have happened in the first place). At any rate whatever the sentence he’s a convicted felon and therefore should be serving his time in Pelican Bay or San Quentin or some such, not some Club Fed.

  • Chad J. February 26, 2016, 8:11 am

What else can you say but TYPICAL LEFT WANKER. The fascist laws and rules are for everyone else, not for them. You can see it even in the Senator Joe Biden diatribe calling for holding off on selecting a new Supreme Court Justice until after the elections in 1992, but now joining in the chorus to let Sheik Barack Hussein al-Obama select one before the elections.

  • Jim February 26, 2016, 8:03 am

Strange and mysterious things happen in prisons sometimes……maybe even in club fed. We can only hope REAL justice is metered out properly. Every dog has his day!

  • alex February 26, 2016, 7:32 am

and they put the bundy’s and their compatriots in jail for life for protecting their land and rights????? we’ll all regret the day we didn’t back them up.

    • Justin Time February 27, 2016, 5:05 am

As far as I know, the Bundys haven’t been tried yet. Just arrested and charged. But I hope they’re hanged in a public square after they are tried.

  • Joppa Farms February 26, 2016, 7:27 am

The people of Kalifornia voted for this scumbag, my guess is they will put another douche bag in office who will continue to abuse their constitutional rights. Until they get off their lazy asses and vote for someone who will protect the 2A, they can expect exactly the same. The power, people, resides with you and YOUR VOTE

  • Chris Baker February 26, 2016, 7:25 am

Judge Breyer may have stated some good points but Yee’s sentence certainly belies his statements. As far as I could see, the article does not state that Breyer was the sentencing judge but if not, who was? Now, on to the crux of the matter. By attempting to import automatic weapons and rockets for criminals/terrorists, he potentially harmed far more people than your typical crook. As such he deserves a punishment that will teach him not to do it again. If he can’t learn right from wrong from being punished, then execute him. Same for every criminal. Putting people in jail for the rest of their lives as a sentence is stupid. Jail is supposed to be punishment. Punishment is supposed to teach right from wrong and not to do wrong. If they can’t learn, there’s no reason to keep them alive. If you keep them alive, they have a chance to escape and do even more harm. If you keep them alive some bleeding heart politician may grant them a pardon and potentially they can do more harm. To prevent those possibilities they should not be alive. The execution, since it isn’t punishment should be absolutely as painless as possible. I’ve had a couple of dogs that I had put to sleep (killed) and the vet injected a dose of whatever and they just stopped. No whining or agitation like they were in pain. If we can do it for a dog we can do it for a person. A long time ago I had my appendix taken out. The doc said count from 100 to zero. I made it to about 97 and then I woke up and it was all done. No pain, no memory of anything. If they could do that 53 years ago they can certainly do that and then inject poison or drain their blood or any number of things to kill the criminal. It would be ok with me if they took the criminal’s organs and blood for transplant to save some lives. Maybe they could do more good dead than they did alive. My church’s assistant pastor needs a kidney. Maybe one of Yee’s would be a match.

BUT, what really burns my ass up iss, this scumbag will collect all his political pension and bennies when he gets out ???????

    • Chris Baker February 26, 2016, 7:31 am

I have to agree with your points. Our so called “justice” system isn’t about justice at all any more. The adversarial manner of trials virtually guarantees that it won’t be. What we need is to find a way to change it to a “Truth” based system where nobody gets points for winning just for finding the truth.

    • rt66paul February 27, 2016, 2:54 pm

The road to Pelican Bay is through the calif prison system. After you are convicted and placed in a calif prison, then you have to get the warden’s attention by being a soldier or snitching off the high ranking gang members, then, if you are very unlucky, you might just get sent there. That place is the last stop.

  • Martin Smith February 26, 2016, 5:26 am

If you want a real example of the out of control criminal elite in this country look no further than former Senator Corzine of NJ. He literally stole hundreds of millions of dollars from his clients and was never ever served one day of time. The Republicans are not free of blame in this but corruption seems to be part of the Democrat Party’s DNA.

  • TROJAN4EVR February 26, 2016, 3:36 am

Because he has dirt on others in power. And in exchange for keeping his mouth shut…he gets 5yrs in club fed.

THIS MAN NEED GOD’S FORGIVENESS, HE IS A VICTIM OF SATAN, DOING WHAT HE DID NOT KNOW. PUBLIC PEOPLE NEED TO HAVE THEIR SENTENCES DOUBLE NOT LESS SO A STRONG MESSAGE NEED KNOWN. THE ONLY WAY FOR A MAN TO BE FREE FROM ANOTHER’S OPPRESSION IS TO HAVE ABILITY TO FACE THE OPPRESSION. PEOPLE IN THE U.S. ARE FREE BECAUSE OF THE 2ND AMENDMENT NOT POLITICIANS IN WASHINGTON D.C. COUNTRIES THAT CITIZENS DO NOT HAVE THE BILLS OF RIGHTS AND THE 2ND AMENDMENT ARE BEING OPPRESSED BY THEIR OWN GOVERNMENT. UNLESS PEOPLE’S EYES ARE OPEN SPIRITUALLY THEY ARE BLINDED TO THE TRUTH OF GOD AND EVEN THOSE WHO HAVE THEIR EYES OPEN, THEY STILL DOING THE WORK OF SATAN, UNBELIEVABLE. WE ARE IN SPIRITUAL WARFARE IN THE HIGHEST DEGREE AND WE NEED GOD’S SPIRITUAL POWER NOT MAN’S POWER TO WIN.

    • Shawn McManus February 26, 2016, 11:38 am

  • Will Drider February 25, 2016, 11:18 pm

“WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.”
It does not say: with a seperate standards of Justice and punishment for the Guilty based on continued protection of those with prior social, political or celebrity status. Why do Club Fed type correctional facilities exist in the first place?
Very simply, companies and groups hire lobbyists together they barter for influence and favor with politicians. The degree of these interactions may cause some of them to get caught, and occasionally found guilty. Politicians are very capable ob breaking the Law on teir own too. This case stands as an exapmle of hundredes more, these folks will need accommodations but are to “good” to do hard time with common criminals. Hence, politicians created the requirement for white collar Club Fed Institutions because they are a personal insurance policy for the if/when they get caught and convicted.
