Kimber is adding new models to the company’s K6 series of revolvers for 2017. These compact handguns are built for everyday carry, concealed or on the hip. They are all double-action only revolvers with a tuned action, hammerless profile and a lot of clean, straight lines.
The K6 series is a very modern take on the snub-nose revolver. The design proves that these guns are still relevant today for self-defense. What makes the K6 stand out is its use of 6-round cylinders instead of 5 and large 3-dot sights, the type of sights more common to semi-autos.
Kimber advertises these as “the world’s lightest production 6-shot .357 Magnum revolvers” weighing in at 23 ounces unloaded. They’re not featherweight handguns compared to lighter 5-shot revolvers but they will handle full-house loads with less felt recoil. Like any .357 Magnum revolver they can also shoot .38 Special and .38 +P ammunition.
For 2017 Kimber is adding high-polish deluxe models of K6 including a limited run of “First Edition” handguns. The company is also expanding their original matte-finish K6s model with more sight options.
The K6s First Edition comes with contrasting satin Pao Ferro hardwood grips and simple black serrated sights. Intended to be somewhat exclusive, Kimber is pricing the First Edition at $2,039. The other pistols are priced a lot more in-line with today’s nicer revolver options.
None of these are budget revolvers with the simplest K6s priced at $899. The basic version comes with 3-dot iron sights and a simple rubberized, checkered boot-cut grip.

For a little more shooters can opt for night sights (K6s NS) or laser sights (K6s LG) with their revolvers. The night sight model is priced to move at $919 where the laser sight model runs a bit higher at $1,177. These are suggested prices — real-world pricing will be less.
Kimber tapped Crimson Trace to make the grips for their K6s LG. These sport textured black rubber Crimson Trace Master Series grips with the company’s “Instinctive Activation” power system. Built into the grips is a power switch that clicks on as soon as you grab the handgun. The grips provide a red light laser sight on target and run off two 2032 power cells.
And also new for 2017 is the K6s Deluxe Carry Revolver, or DCR. Unlike the limited production First Edition, it’s nearly half the cost at $1,088 with the same mirror polish. It comes with checkered rosewood grips and a fiber optic front and serrated black rear sight set.
The K6 series was a big departure for Kimber. Announced last year, the original K6 was Kimber’s first try at making revolvers. The K6 has been largely successful for Kimber. The one criticism has been that they were a bit shy of delivering revolvers in quantity.
Hopefully, with this announcement Kimber will satisfy everyone looking to get their hands on a K6, whether it’s a straightforward model for everyday carry or a deluxe version for a little showing off.

Yes
Too expensive.
I’m not a big fan of pistols, but know that Kimber is one of the best manufacturers of quality pistols. I’ve considered buying one, but truth be told is that every time that I look at one, I end up buying another revolver…Smith & Wesson, Ruger, and I have a few Charter Arms as well, and even one 4″ Rossi .38 Special…my one and only Taurus. I don’t know that Kimber doesn’t manufacture a quality revolver, but I’ll stick to what I know…if I finally purchase a pistol, a good bet is that it might be a Kimber, but as long as I’m buying revolvers…probably won’t be a Kimber. Closed minded? That’s me.
S&W, Colt, Ruger, Kimber, Charter and others offer different things. The only real question is what do you specifically require in a revolver? Buy what you need or buy what exceeds.
YUP ! ITS A BEAUTIFUL PIECE BUT I RATHER STICK TO MY TAURUS COLLECTION : RAGING BULL 44 MAGNUM TO MY MODEL 617 ( SNUB 357 MGNM ) AND MY 1911 45 CAL….MORE BANG FOR YOUR BUCK !!! From reading the comments by people on here, it sounds like some want a high end, quality handgun, at stupid cheap prices. If that is what you want to protect your life with, by all means do it. I own 3 kimbers, and yes, they are not cheap. Neither is a Rolls Royce but the choice is always the buyers. What will/does it do better? Nothing. It shoots just like any other hand gun does. Is it quality? Alsolutely!!!!! Does it feel really good in your hand? Absolutely!!!! Is it as smooth as butter? Absolutely!!! Does it really sell for $900.00? Mine didn’t. Personally, I want high end quality when I am protecting myself and family, nothing less.
An interesting first effort, but it looks blocky and crude compared to my 442.
Nice revolvers, but I think I’ll stick with my S&W Chief’s Special…
Just got a 637-2 Performance Center model that I really like….light for pocket carry too….
If I hit the lotto I would get that limited edition one, though…Ha!
The price shouldn’t be a surprise. This is a high-end firearm. You can’t compare it to an LCR or a GP100 because it’s got custom features. I own a Kimber 1911 and its a great pistol. Worth the price I think when you compare it to other semi-custom 1911s.
I have one of the new Kimber revolvers. My advice to those bashing it is, until you hold one, shoot one, and carry one, you have no idea what you are talking about. The trigger on this revolver is second to none, especially that it is hammerless. As always, you get what you pay for!
I have been wanting a Kimber for a long time but NOT AT THESE PRIZES>.What can
they do that their competitors can’t do???
Geez, for that kind of money I could go buy 4 Ruger LCRs and get the same or better quality and arm my entire family!
Try again, Kimber!
I am very glad to see new revolvers coming out.
I did 38 yrs in law enforcement and the old school is the way to go.
I have the Kimber Micro and love it, I have had 2 other small frame carry pistols and neither performed like this gun, they are a bit expensive but wort every penny.
Sorry….yet again….nice gun…..but not something Average Joe will be going out and buying. Sure, they are pretty, but they just as well be made from a meteorite.
AMERICANISM!!!! NOT Globalism!!!!!
I wouldn’t call these “new revolvers” so much as additional options for the one revolver. Still, it is very nice to see the number of sight and stock options that are becoming available. Makes the Kimber J-Frame a stronger contender with the S&W and new Colt.
